Pre-Day 61: pre-game threading

day 60

[blackblooded]

[The teenager, a thin, lanky child with a black dress and purple-pink hair, isn't doing well. Gender isn't apparent, not with the combination of dress and wide hips and flat chest. They're the sort of person who moves in obvious fear, sliding between shadows with the air of someone used to being constantly terrified, a person who freezes with fear like a startled animal at the first sign of someone noticing their movements.]

[Bon happens to be there, and he notices Chrona. It's kind of hard not to notice Chrona, because whoops shaky kid who Bon has never seen before!

Figuring Chrona is new, Bon with go ahead and approach them.]

Did you just get here?

[It's kind of hard to miss when someone is new. Bon remembers how confused and exhausted he had been five days ago when he had first arrived.]

[blackblooded]

[Crona jumps, twitching away from the stranger. A nod, shoulders twitched up protectively.]

... mmmm. [A noise of agreement.

Someone's nervous.]

[Crap, a new person. But hey, it's nice to see someone else survived the end of all the worlds, the population here has been woefully small.

Bon isn't excited about possibly having to explain everything, though. He's not that great at random conversations anyway, and he's still kind of upset about all of this.]

Did you talk to anyone else here yet?

Day 55

[So, about mid-afternoon, A gruff-looking teenage boy is looking slightly less-than-gruff. He managed to make it almost all the way to the Bastion on his own, he's in the home stretch now, but he's exhausted and injured from the monsters that keep attacking him. He doesn't know what chants are necessary to get rid of these monsters, and the ones he has tried don't seem to be working. It's a problem, to say the least.

Bon ducks behind a broken wall, leaning against it as he gasps for air. He doesn't even know what he's running towards, but it's big and looks less destroyed than everything else, so he can only hope that it's somewhere safe. He also is hoping that his body can hold out long enough for him to actually get there, it would be shitty if he made it all that way just to die right before he reached his goal.

There is a pack of Squirts trailing him, and he's in for a world of hurt if he lingers too long. Help would probably be for the best.]

[Luckily help would be arriving, in the form of familiar blue flames lashing out from further up the skyway. The Squirts weren't often easily dispatched, but the fire was still strange and frightening to them, sending the ones that weren't immediately incinerated fleeing in all directions.]

Yeah that's right, you'd better run!

[He would be more grateful if he weren't wondering why the hell Rin is in the girl's uniform again. Because that has to be what's going on here, Bon recognizes those flames. Nobody else has them like Rin does.

But Rin is also wearing a skirt and possibly a wig too and Bon doesn't know what the fuck. Did Rin find his secret calling as a cross-dresser or something?]

What the hell is this?

[Now that the Squirts are gone, Bon is poking his head up over the broken wall he hid behind, so that he can get a clearer view of Rin. He is so confused right now.]

[Yeah that's no cross dresser, that is a 100% female half-demon. But it certainly looks like the Rin he knows, just with longer hair and actual (if not small) boobs, so the confusion is warranted.

Rin lowers the sword once Bon pops his head over the wall, and her expression goes from angry to... relieved?]

Bon...

Day 35

[unflattering]

[When everything went black again, Maka thought--for a brief and horrible moment--that he was dead.

But--that couldn't be, he heard noises, felt that same damp and sticky warmth on his forehead from the bleeding injuries he still had. The boy cracks open one eye, then sits up, looking around the new area.

It doesn't look anything like the moon, no, though it does look like the courtyard for the Academy just slightly. Maka chances standing and looks looks down at himself--yep, the bits he could remember were correct, he had been fighting recently.

...Where's Soul?]

Soul? Black*Star? Kid?

[He looks up and sees a beacon in the distance, squinting at it as though he was trying to see past the light and pick out any details.

Is that the moon? Did I fall off? Why can't I remember anything?

Better follow it, it might lead him to some answers. Maka starts forward at a brisk pace, breaking into a run soon after.]

[Maka isn't the only one running, and soon enough there's a decent ruckus behind him of some one tearing up the broken skyway frantically.

If Maka turns, he'll see a girl already beat to hell, blood dripping down the side of her face, a pink and white school uniform stained and dirty. She's carrying a sword in one hand, clutching a red silk case in her other, but whatever she's been fighting she's no longer going after.

She's just running.

And there's a good reason for that.]

[unflattering]

[Oh there's someone following hi--

Clearly he looked too fast, he'll look again--

...Nope, it's still a girl carrying a sword and running for her life.

For her LIFE? What's going on?]

Hey!

[Maka can slow down to let the girl catch up, of course, it's not like there's an issue or he's an idiot shonen protagonist]

[The closer she gets, the clearer it becomes, what she's running from. Something large - a little bigger than human sized - and swinging a heavy looking hammer-axe combo is right on her tail. Literally. She has a tail, and it's right behind that.

But that aside, whatever is chasing her looks pretty damn dangerous and intent on smashing the girl in to itty girl pieces, and she's running out of steam to keep going.

She jerked her head around at the voice, and seeing another person seems to give her an extra boost of speed if only for a second. She reaches the boy and--

yanks him down to the ground.]

DOWN!

[Probably a good thing she did that, though, considering the next second was that axe being swung hard at where he had just been standing. Had that hit, Maka would have gone flying off the skyway, never to be seen again.]

Late Day 60

[ Marie hadn't had any idea where she was or where she was going, but she'd managed to make it to a broader expanse of land than she'd found before. If she hadn't been a death scythe, there was a very real chance that she wouldn't have made it even this far.

And that wasn't as much help as it should have been either.

It shouldn't be any surprise that she's a wreck by the time she got to the Bastion, not when she'd been on the move constantly for longer than she could easily manage. She's bent over at the waist, her hands resting on her thighs as she tries to catch her breath. There's even blood in her hair, though hadn't been too serious an injury and only bled like crazy just for being a head wound.

Nothing has come after her yet, so she's just going to go ahead and sit down for a minute there.

It is safe to say that this is literally the worst time she's ever been lost. This wins it and she never wanted it to be topped by anything else ever again. ]

Stupid Bon... stupid stupid stupid...

[Rin knew she shouldn't go anywhere alone. She knew better by now. Really, she did. But she was just so damn irritated and just so damn tired of all the arguments with Bon as of late. And of course it was because they were in a tense, difficult situation, and it certainly wasn't the life they were used to living. Even Exorcist training had been easier than life in the Bastion, but they were there and they had to learn to deal with it.

But it didn't make those damn arguments any less irritating. And yet another one had sent her stomping out of the apartment building, sword in hand, grumbling under her breath with every intention to go knock some Squirts around with her flames for the sake of venting.

But she hadn't expected to come across a new arrival on her way out.

She very nearly passed the woman by, a mantra of 'stupid stupid stupid...' marking her steps as she stomped across her path, but three steps past the threshold she stopped and turned.]

... uhm. ... did you just get here?

[goodlifechoices]

[ Marie's head snaps up when she's addressed, obviously startled. She may have dozed for a second there, a very bad decision, and she's scrambling up onto her feet as she clenches a hand into a fist.

Then the reality of the situation catches up to her, and her visible eye widens. ]

You're a human.

[ Yes, that's her response instead of answering the question, and it is clearly a very profound one. Never mind Rin's appearance or anything, this girl was the first actual person she'd seen since she found herself here. ]

... more or less.

[What? It's a decent confirmation. She knows Marie can see her tail - everyone can see her damn tail and her pointed ears and her sharp teeth - but Rin also knows what state she was in when she arrived, what state Bon was in, others. She can't fault the woman for not being terribly observant.

Hell, she was glad to see another person when she arrived, even if they both wound up running for their lives right after.

But this woman was new, and there was blood (as there was with most new arrivals) running down from her forehead. Any sense of irritation she had from her earlier argument with Bon washed away as she shouldered her sword and moved closer, crouching down to get a better look at what was bleeding.]

There's a lotta people here. You're safe now, the monsters can't get in here.

Day 58

[ The change in scenery was both welcome and most definitely not. Welcome because it was flat, and the knight had been climbing those stairs for far too long with the end still being a spot of light ahead, and not because.. ]

.. This isn't Tarqaron.

[ Sure, there had been that horribly melted section, and the standard town-turned-ruins sort of area, but this- ]

This is a bad trick, I'm not going to stay away just because you re-arrange the interior of the floating tower! And no, that isn't going to work either-

[ The last is directed at a squirt, which had been trying to sneak up on the white haired knight. The irritated shouting at nothing seems to have been drawing the things in, not that the swordsman seems to mind much. ]

[Rin had reasons for going out on her own. Reasons that in her mind trumped everyone's insistence that she not go alone. Her pride continued to rear it's ugly head even after nearly a month of being there, insisting that if she stuck to certain pathways, she would be just fine with her power.

Some days she came back a little more scratched up than usual, other days she came perfectly alright. But she always made sure to leave early in the morning before she thought anyone was up.

Of course the nightmares helped facilitate that.

But no matter how much she searched she couldn't find what she was looking for. Sure she returned with found supplies, but that wasn't what she was truly after.

Today was another bust. She couldn't remember the way she had come, that day almost a month past. She wanted to remember. She had to. She needed to be completely sure that certain people hadn't been turned to stone...

She was on her way back, knowing it was about to be "morning" for the rest of the Bastion residents when the noise caught her attention. She wheeled around to search where the sound came from, eyes eventually falling on some one amidst an oncoming swarm of Squirts.

Damn.]

HEY!

[notduchess]

... What?

[ The knight looks about, still batting away at the things, mostly just keeping in motion and blade swinging. They weren't horribly tough, just... a lot of them.

It takes Duke a moment to spot the voice- a girl ... some form of uniform, although Duke didn't really know what kind would wear that. ]

Day 43: for Rin and Maka

[Early in the day, Rin and Maka are approached by one of the NPCs within the Bastion: Nathaniel, the apprentice to the Mancer who maintains and repairs the Bastion.]

Listen, I'm sorry to bug you both when you're so new, but something important's come up and we really need your help.

[hellpyre]

[Rin and Maka had been sharing breakfast outside when they were approached, Rin still on the very edge of 'not quite awake'.

She did her best to look attentive, though, sitting up with a fork still in her mouth.]

'sup?

[unflattering]

[In contrast, Maka's a morning person, and if someone's approaching him his attention will be immediately drawn to them.]

What is it?

[But dammit this is a really good breakfast.]

Late day 58!

[spotofsunlight]

[ A little—very little!—slightly overdressed, white-haired boy in a heavy winter coat, oddly rabbit-shaped hat, and set of manacles wanders the Skyway. He's talking, though because he's on his own, it doesn't appear to be directed toward anyone in particular. ]

Jeez, it's really bright around here. Why's it so bright? [ He's squinting. A lot. ] And where'd all the fluffy white stuff go?

[ He takes a few steps, trodding on a random patch of grass. ]

Wow, what's this? Haha, it looks weird.

[ Shiro backs up, then kicks at the blades of grass a little, and that causes the entire section of grass in front of him to crumble. Luckily the ground beneath him hasn't given way. Yet. ]

Whoa. That's dangerous. How'd that happen?

[ So he's kicking another part of the ground to see if it'll happen again. ]

[kyotoprincess]

[Oh HELL no.

Bon sees this kid kicking at the crumbling Skyway, and he rushes over to grab him before he goes tumbling over the edge.]

Watch it! That's dangerous!

[spotofsunlight]

[ Whoa! He's been picked up! Shiro looks away from the crumbling pieces of floating landmass, at the guy who just fished him off the edge of oblivion. ]

Wow, where'd you come from? Did you see that stuff? It fell.

[ He points, as if the guy didn't see what he just saved the kid from. ]
