Pre-Day 61: pre-game threading

... That's never happened before.

[ Well, hopefully its dizzy - or dead - when it slams back down onto the ground. Since the girl was fairly good at going fast - at least all the reckless jumping from before seemed to hint at that, Duke has no problems with agreeing by action. The knight may not be a sprinter but this is some definite ponytail streaming going on. ]

Maybe it was too light.

[It certainly lands with a satisfyingly loud SPLAT! that would indicate dead or at the very very least, splattered enough that it won't be moving any time soon.]

Maybe! Ain't like they got much else to weigh 'em down except that gross spit of theirs!

[She can't help but grin at Duke as they run though.]

That was pretty awesome!

[ This is a fairly startled blink back. Well, the place is a bit strange, the rules of nature are a bit .. .stupid, and her abilities are rather different. ]

The flame thing you did was rather fascinating as well.

[ A flicker of a smile. the knight has the strangest feeling that the explanation is not going to be a good one. ]

[Oh it isn't, but Rin isn't about to jump in to that right now. They're nearing the beacon and details can come when they're not running for their lives.]

[ Duke just nods, since running and talking was a little more taxing than everyone remembers it as.

That, and the knight wants to study that thing they're running for. ]

[There's not much to it from where they're coming from. It's just a light, blue and shooting straight up in to the sky above them where it vanishes in to clouds.

It's where it takes them that matters.]

[ Up up up where the spell flung that balloon creature? ]

[ One word questions are the plan for now. ]

Yup! Just run in to it!

[ ... This will be all sorts of fun, won't it-

[At least the beacon doesn't cause a rough landing of any sort. It might be a little disorienting at first, but that would be the worst of it.

Rin steps out once she goes through and lands on the Bastion grounds, letting out a relieved sigh.]

[ Duke clearly isn't sure how to feel about this.

Its very very plain that this isn't Tarqaron, or Terca Lumireis... ]

... I think a lot of people would never get fit if these replaced stairs.

[ For the attempted joke, its really... really flat in tone. There's something very wrong. ]

They'd get all the exercise they needed runnin' from those damn Windbags!

[Dry joke or not, Rin is going to respond to it.

She turns around, gesturing with her arms to the area around them.]

... Good to know there's a home base.

[ The knight studies the area, then idly shifts to start sticking long hair back where it was supposed to be. ]

Is it always this empty?

Ah... no... actually it's pretty early... everyone else is probably still asleep.

[ A moment spent studying Rin, then back to that beam of light and the rest of the area- ]

... why's that?

[Sorry, Duke, she's a little... dim.]

That someone was up. I probably would have swatted those things until that big .. windbag? showed up, and the stuff it was spitting didn't look that good. And then not known about the limits so...

[ The knight shrugs. ]

Oh! Yeah, yeah, hahah you're totally right! I'm not really a mornin' person but...

[Being there has kind of borked any sense of a normal sleep pattern.]

A-anyway, are you hungry? We can talk over breakfast.

I ought to be, so where to?

[ The knight bobs a little tiny indication of a bow, and does so.

Duke is totally looking at everything along the way, but following is something that can happen while looking about. ]

[Rin leads her in to a building. It's a bit dim inside, but she goes to open a few window shudders to let some light in.]

Anything you can't eat? We don't got a lot but I can see what I can do.

Anything up to making me breathe fire, that I know of.

[ Duke looks about, and finds a place to sit. Cooks usually don't like people hovering about them. ]

Hmn. Well I'm not gonna start shovin' tonics at you and call it good. So uhm. Oh, I think we got some eggs...

[ Duke raises an eyebrow at that, but settles back to sort of.. absently watch the girl go about cooking.

The knight has the feeling Rin likes this. ]
