Light years away from home, just my demons and I alone
Who: Rin Okumura and anyone else in the Bastion
When: After Groups A and B return and the Core is installed
Where: Near the apartment building
Style: [these fun things]
Status: OOOOPEN
[So hey. There's this girl. She's been in this place for a while, helped out with a lot of things, and today she got to help do something awesome! Cores are important to the Bastion after all, so that's a good thing.
Except she kind of... lit herself on fire and a lot of people saw it.
Anyone want to talk to her about that?
In all seriousness, Rin can be found after all that hubbub taking a break near the apartments, outside because she really doesn't want to be in her room right now. She's nursing a bit of a wound on her thigh from sliding on her legs under the bird earlier, but whatever road rash she got from doing so is starting to fade finally. Her sword is lying next to her in the grass, and she's just on her back, watching the odd sky above the Bastion quietly.
Mostly because her ears are still kind of ringing from what Crona did.
Ringing ears won't stop her from holding a conversation, though, if anyone cares to bother her, and she's in a decent mood given their accomplishments.]

Yeah... Shiro, too. [a sigh] Well. Whatever it takes to keep people alive, right?
[She really didn't want to lose any else. Not the way they already had.]
no subject
[He is looking down and frowning now. It's something he's given a lot of thought to. Even though they survived the end of the world, what happens next? there's what, fifteen of them? They'll get old eventually, if they're not killed off by monsters at some point, and then what? Will humanity die off in a few decades?]
no subject
[Rin didn't often ask what was going on in Bon's head. Even back home. She always figured she was too dumb to understand it, or she just wouldn't be interested because Bon was just so out of her league on everything, but right then curiosity got the better of her.
Even if she wasn't sure she would like the answer.]
no subject
That is why he's not quite as happy as everyone else.]
How many people do you think it would take to keep humanity from dying out?
no subject
The question makes her frown as thoughtfully as one like her can manage, but soon enough she holds up two fingers.]
You just need enough people to make babies, right?
[... no. Rin. Just-- no.]
no subject
If you have two people, and they have a bunch of kids, what do you think is going to happen in the next generation?
[That is said in a very flat voice.]
There needs to be genetic diversity. Don't you remember this from science class? With the pea plants?
no subject
[Rin tilted her head to the right. Then to the left. Come on, there had to be one class she wasn't actually sleeping through--]
... OH YEAH! With the weird mutant peas and the ones that were like half formed and shit right?! That-- ... oh.
... ew. Ew no! Ohgod, no! I don't want that!
[Well now she's imagining two headed babies and other horrible abominations. Awesome.]
no subject
[And that isn't even taking into account things like compatibility and if feelings are returned or not.]
no subject
We're fucked, aren't we?
[Yes Rin that's... exactly what he's saying.
But she seriously believes it, and her shoulders slump and her heard even goes down with a groan.]
no subject
[It's a sad, depressing truth. It's one that Bon has been trying to find reassurance in, but it's hard to do so.]
But at least the last of humanity gets to live in a place that isn't so bad. I can think of worse ways to die.
no subject
Humanity. People that aren't me.
[Something she had known but not really entertained was the fact that her demonic side likely meant she would live longer than anyone she knew.
In this context, it wasn't just depressing, it was terrifying.]
no subject
Then he looks away as he reaches over to pat her on top of her head once.]
Don't be stupid.
[He doesn't want to say 'you're human enough,' because that isn't true from a biological standpoint. Rin will still be living longer than anyone else here.]
You'll have your future kids, at least. And it's not like we're all gonna drop dead tomorrow.
no subject
End of the world or not, I ain't gonna burden some poor child with what I got stuck with just because my real father is a colossal asshole.
no subject
Bon is the only child of a very important family. While his father tried not to pressure Bon into any career, especially not one running the temple, everyone else always operated under the assumption that Bon would take over for his father someday and become the new head of the temple.
With that job came responsibilities, one of which was ensuring that the next generation happened.
Sure, Bon had decided to become an exorcist instead of a priest. But that didn't undo fifteen years of hearing about arrange marriages and 'it's for the good of the family line.' To him, kids aren't a choice: they an inevitable event.]
And what's your husband gonna think when he hears that?
no subject
What husband?
no subject
[Come on Rin this is elementary stuff here. It's frustrating that he has to spell it out like this, and the tone in his voice might be rising a little.]
no subject
[oop there goes her voice]
no subject
[Yeah he's not even trying to hold it back now. Yelling time is a go.]
no subject
WELL NO ONE'S GONNA WANNA MARRY YOU IF YOU KEEP YELLIN' LIKE THAT YOU BIG GORILLA!
no subject
[It's the contest of who would never ever get married.]
no subject
[Rin is the best at these arguments]
no subject
[he's pulled away from Rin and is standing up now, by the way. It's easier to yell when standing.]
no subject
[wait no get back here she has to be at least almost eye level with you]
--YEAH WELL YOUR FACE IS STUPID!
[... thank you Rin for being exactly what he said you were]
no subject
See? Told you. You're not creative at all.
no subject
[Rin stomps her foot on the ground, letting out an annoyed snarl at the whole thing.]
I'd kick you but I think you'd like it. Jerk.
