Day 201 [event post]
Who: Zahi and everyone who wants to go hunt down the cure
Open: Open
When: 201- onwards
Where: the monument, and then out on the Skyway
What: People in the Bastion are falling sick, and Zahi knows where a cure can be found. Unfortunately, it won't be easy to get to.
Format: action
Warnings: none
[On Day 201, after several people have fallen ill, another meeting is called. This time, however, it is not Nathaniel who has called for everyone. It's Zahi.]
Okay, I know everyone's been worried about the people in the hospital, and it looks like our fears weren't unfounded: some of the people who went on that last trip, they caught something.
I've been watching the symptoms, and I think I know what this is. A long time ago, back before Zayna was born, there was a terrible illness that claimed the lives of many Ura. Everyone who fell sick here, they had the same symptoms as those who caught the disease before.
On the plus side, this means that it can be cured. I know of a clinic, way out in the Terminals, where there should be some medicine stocked. Not only can we cure the sick, but we can give another kind of medicine to those who aren't sick yet, so they won't catch it at all.
The downside is that it's gonna take a while to get there. It'll be at least two days there, and possibly more to track down exactly where the clinic is, and then the same amount of time back. We're looking at a four-day minimum, which means we won't be much help to those who are sick right now. They'll either be dead or getting better by the time we get back.
Then there's the fact that it's really dangerous out there. Zayna and I were out on the Terminals before we came here, and let's just say that there's a reason we went looking for somewhere safer to stay.
If you'd rather stay here, I can understand that. The Bastion is an amazing place, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone here managed to save everyone. But I'm not a fan of putting all my eggs in one basket, so I figured it's worth a shot to go and try to get some of the medicine.
What do you guys think?

Only all the sick people
[So when he hears Tobias's telepathic call, he drops a clipboard and a vial and he runs for the entrance.]
I'm here! I'm coming! Please tell me it's still good!
no subject
[It's all spilling out in a rush, but he holds out the leg with the bag tied to it.]
<I think she'll live and I'm pretty sure the others are hauling out of there. If nothing else I think Zahi will drag them.>
no subject
[Colin listens patiently to all this news. He reaches out to take the bag from Tobias, and he opens it, taking out the bottle of the cure.]
Okay, priorities. I need you to fly around the Bastion and get as many shards as you can. This isn't enough to treat everyone, so we're going to need more. I'll head to the monument to get to work synthesizing this... We need at least ten doses immediately.
After that... Gods above and below, this is going to be a bad debriefing. We need to prep the hospital for wounded, we may need a rescue mission...
Cure first.
You did great, Tobias. Everyone here owes your their lives.
[Colin's already studying the cure, scanning the chemical composition... If anything happens, at least now, he knows EXACTLY how this stuff is combined.]
no subject
[He flaps hard, struggling to gain altitude. He'll head back to his tree and grab his shards. It won't be enough to get all of the doses but it should give them a start.]
no subject
Go out there with a Dragon and some backup, and you'll be able to bring everyone back in one piece!
[Speaking of which...]
PAARTHURNAX! I need you!
no subject
I am here. What is needed of me?
no subject
Then, I need you to get Tris, Raile, and Zayna. The away team was under fire when Tobias left with the cure. Tobias needs to lead you to them, and I want our people brought back alive. If we need to play "Hand of God" to bring our people back, then I'm all for it, but one way or another they need help.
Can you foresee any problems with that? I suspect Tobias is going to try and fly on his own, but he's bound to be tired. If you can carry everyone, then... well...
[He shrugs helplessly]
I can only advise as I see fit. Do what you gotta do, you know things better than most anyone else here.
no subject
They are good choices, especially with what little we have with our group divided. I will ensure that Tobias does not rush ahead. I will gather them and we shall set out soon. [He takes in a deep breath... only to pause and bow his head politely to Colin.] Please do what is required to control the sound for your body. I am about to be very loud.
[He likes you, Colin, he doesn't want you going deaf or your weird audio equipment possibly breaking.]
[With that warning given, then he yells.]
ZAYNA!
RAILE!
TRIS!
[And you fuckers thought Zulf was loud.]
[With that waking-the-dead-and-dying yell done, Paar lowers himself down onto his wings again as usual with a slight thmp that shakes the earth again. His head is shaken a little as well.]
no subject
You don't need to shout that loud!
[ Tris herself will be here in a minute. ]
no subject
Y'called?
no subject
She stumbles out, half dressed, hair unwrapped, looking like she's about ready to hit something.]
What in the name of the Mother and all that is blessed are you shouting for?!
no subject
[ Because its Paar.
Anyone looking closely might tell that it isn't the sun on her glasses that's making the shine, but a bit of lightning. Someone hasn't been very calm lately. ]

The cure has been found- Tobias has brought it to us. Yet as he left, the others were under attack.
[Short and sweet, to the point. Paar nods to Tris.]
Is it easier for you to summon storms, or use what is already at your disposal? The former, I would wish for you to ride upon me with Tobias. The latter- [His head turns to Raile.] Then it is your eyes I would wish to have with me. The two who are left may use the horse the Festival left for us.
Tell me quickly now- we take flight once Tobias returns. You will have to gather up whatever you need in haste.

[ She thinks for a moment longer, and implications - There usually isn't that much weather up on the skyway. ]
If one is just forming, I can add wind and take control that way. Its usually how I catch them.
no subject
[Between his time here before and what he'd learn working for the Marshals, he knew how to fly the skys with the best of them. Landings...were a little tricker, but hey, he could get to the place quick enough and it wasn't like he didn't know the outlying areas around here well.]
no subject
My father went with those teams... I suppose this is unavoidable then. Give me a moment, I need to retrieve my Halbred.
no subject
[Zayna is given a nod- go do what you have to do. They won't leave without her. Raile is spoken to next.]
We go together.
[His tone hints that he will hear no arguments on this.]
no subject
[It would be a little more turbulent riding the winds next to Paar's flapping wings, but so long as he minded his placement and kept his ears focused, he'd do just fine.]
no subject
[ Tris inspects her skirts, then sets to organizing her braids a little while they wait. Some thicker ones are getting tucked down by her ears instead of up in their net. ]
no subject
a small bag of some sort with a sensor attached to it goes floating by, heading for the monument.
By the way, there's a pecker riding on it, and it's trying to get into the bag at the sweet, sweet donut crumbs in there.]
no subject
[He can sleep when this is over. Right now he has to fly. Once Zayna gets back, he stares at each of them in turn before he 'speaks'.]
<Here's the situation. There's some homes underground at the Terminals, near the clinic. While Zahi took one group to look inside the clinic, another group was scouting the area. We found a home that was booby-trapped and tried to disarm it, but it didn't go so well. Ahime was injured in the blast, and I tried to get her to stay still but it took a bit for her hearing to get back.>
[He ruffles his feathers a bit before continuing.]
<Someone started shooting at us, but they couldn't understand us. I went to get Zahi to send him back to the others, since I think they were Ura, too. I figured he'd be our best bet. But they found the cure and I had to fly it back, so I didn't see how it resolved. I think they should have been able to make it out, but I don't know who else got hurt. It took me a while to fly back, so I'm not sure how fast we can make it, but we should probably leave as soon as we can.>
[He pauses for a moment to stretch out his wings.]
<That's what happened and that's the plan. Any objections? Anyone need to use the bathroom? We're not going to be stopping on this road trip.>
no subject
She listened intently, lips pulled tight in to a frown, waiting until Tobias was done to speak again.]
Then we go and hope for the best for them. I am ready to move out as soon as everyone else is.
no subject
[ Tris may have only raised a starling, but birds. He can sleep later, yes, but some food now. ]
