Day 201 [event post]

What: People in the Bastion are falling sick, and Zahi knows where a cure can be found. Unfortunately, it won't be easy to get to.

[On Day 201, after several people have fallen ill, another meeting is called. This time, however, it is not Nathaniel who has called for everyone. It's Zahi.]

Okay, I know everyone's been worried about the people in the hospital, and it looks like our fears weren't unfounded: some of the people who went on that last trip, they caught something.

I've been watching the symptoms, and I think I know what this is. A long time ago, back before Zayna was born, there was a terrible illness that claimed the lives of many Ura. Everyone who fell sick here, they had the same symptoms as those who caught the disease before.

On the plus side, this means that it can be cured. I know of a clinic, way out in the Terminals, where there should be some medicine stocked. Not only can we cure the sick, but we can give another kind of medicine to those who aren't sick yet, so they won't catch it at all.

The downside is that it's gonna take a while to get there. It'll be at least two days there, and possibly more to track down exactly where the clinic is, and then the same amount of time back. We're looking at a four-day minimum, which means we won't be much help to those who are sick right now. They'll either be dead or getting better by the time we get back.

Then there's the fact that it's really dangerous out there. Zayna and I were out on the Terminals before we came here, and let's just say that there's a reason we went looking for somewhere safer to stay.

If you'd rather stay here, I can understand that. The Bastion is an amazing place, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone here managed to save everyone. But I'm not a fan of putting all my eggs in one basket, so I figured it's worth a shot to go and try to get some of the medicine.

[It would be a little more turbulent riding the winds next to Paar's flapping wings, but so long as he minded his placement and kept his ears focused, he'd do just fine.]

[ Tris inspects her skirts, then sets to organizing her braids a little while they wait. Some thicker ones are getting tucked down by her ears instead of up in their net. ]

[SUDDENLY

a small bag of some sort with a sensor attached to it goes floating by, heading for the monument.

By the way, there's a pecker riding on it, and it's trying to get into the bag at the sweet, sweet donut crumbs in there.]

[... So that's where it went. Tobias allows himself a brief moment of amusement at it, but once he's dropped the shards off with Colin he wheels back and lands in front of the gathered group. Hawk faces don't betray anything, and hawk body language is sufficiently different from human body language that he's not worried they'll see how tired he is.]

[He can sleep when this is over. Right now he has to fly. Once Zayna gets back, he stares at each of them in turn before he 'speaks'.]

<Here's the situation. There's some homes underground at the Terminals, near the clinic. While Zahi took one group to look inside the clinic, another group was scouting the area. We found a home that was booby-trapped and tried to disarm it, but it didn't go so well. Ahime was injured in the blast, and I tried to get her to stay still but it took a bit for her hearing to get back.>

[He ruffles his feathers a bit before continuing.]

<Someone started shooting at us, but they couldn't understand us. I went to get Zahi to send him back to the others, since I think they were Ura, too. I figured he'd be our best bet. But they found the cure and I had to fly it back, so I didn't see how it resolved. I think they should have been able to make it out, but I don't know who else got hurt. It took me a while to fly back, so I'm not sure how fast we can make it, but we should probably leave as soon as we can.>

[He pauses for a moment to stretch out his wings.]

<That's what happened and that's the plan. Any objections? Anyone need to use the bathroom? We're not going to be stopping on this road trip.>

[Zayna had returned before Tobias began to speak to them (but after the odd arrival of that bag) carrying a heavy looking bladed polearm over one shoulder and dressed in a different set of Ura clothing.

She listened intently, lips pulled tight in to a frown, waiting until Tobias was done to speak again.]

Then we go and hope for the best for them. I am ready to move out as soon as everyone else is.

[stormsinbraids]

That was supposed to be a long trip. You need to eat something - or get something you can eat on the way.

[ Tris may have only raised a starling, but birds. He can sleep later, yes, but some food now. ]

[wayofvoice]

Lokkoraav, rest your wings. [Paarthurnax lowers his long neck, chin spikes brushing against hte ground.] Ride with Tris and I as our guide.

[followsthevoice]

[The Tazal Terminals. A place Raile had been hoping he would never have to visit again, for all the horrible memories it brought up. His face visibly darkened and his lips pursed into a solid straight line, but he showed no signs of backing down. People's lives were at stake and if he needed to bring down the fury of his hammer once more...that's just how it had to be.]

I'll be over by t'skyway. Once y'take off, I'll be close behind.

[Raile raised a hand to the dragon and parted company. He wanted to be alone for this one, it was almost a requirement at this current moment. His face might have been steeled, but his heart wasn't yet walled off again and he could feel conflict stirring beneath the bricks and mortar.]

[Wait what. What is this concern for him. Tobias stares at Tris and then Paarthurnax, before he sags a little. Fine. He flutters up onto Paarthurnax's head, gripping one of the spikes near the top.]

<I can find something on the way. We need to head out now, we can't waste time.>

[stormsinbraids]

[ Tris scowls at the hawk, tugging a braid once or twice, before she sighs, dusts off some accumulated sparks like they were dirt, and climbs up on Paar as well. ]

I'll save any wind for the ride back, if we have any who need more urgent a flight.

I imagine if some one was that injured, it will be needed. And I'm certain I don't need to tell everyone to watch their step. Anyone setting that sort of trap is likely capable of much, much more.

Let's go.

[Zayna didn't wait for commentary after that, following Raile shortly to the exit. He would get a moment or two alone, but not a whole lot more than that. They needed to hurry for the sake of one of their own.

Though he wasn't the only one with a knot of fear in his stomach, though Zayna's reasons for keeping her expression cold and placid were far, far different...]

[Paar carefully shifts, raising up his neck to make sure that both Tris and Tobias are settled. With that certain...]

[Hello, welcome aboard Giant Motherfucking Dragon Airlines, this is your Captain speaking. We are now taking off. Please make sure you are properly strapped in and all electronic devices are turned off.]

[Dragon Airlines is so much better than American Airlines. More room, too. Tobias adjusts his grip as they take off. He's tired so he's not doing much besides pointing the way to the others as they go.]
