Day 123 [OPEN]
Who: Everyone
Open: Open
When: Day 123
Where: All over the Bastion
What: Obligatory "We just got more people/survived a hellish experience" mingle log!
Format: Your choice!
Warnings: Shouldn't be any?
[So the past few days in the Bastion have been very hectic and a little more than emotionally stressful for everyone. About two days have come and gone since the last very large batch of arrivals have come in to the Bastion, and thankfully since then it's been relatively quiet. It's a good time to compress, meet some new people and maybe have some good food at the distillery courtesy of Rin.]

B
And then it happened. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a silver flash go by, a child in dresses running quickly. She probably would have ignored it since children running were nothing new in the Bastion, if not for the very sudden, frightening pain in her chest that came on so fast it literally dropped her to her knees.
She gasped for air, clawing at her throat as if something was choking her and she needed to get it out but didn't know how. The dishes fell from her hands and crashed to the floor around her, more than one shattering upon the impact.
Drowning.
Drowning.
That's what it felt like. Like she was submerged in water and couldn't find the surface. Worse than that, it felt like her very power was being suppressed by the non-existent water, like it was squeezing around her heart. Her demonic self seemed to react instinctively to the invisible suppression by trying to push it out, which resulted in her flames activating in a burst of power that lasted barely a second before dying down in to dull, barely alive flickers of blue across her skin.
She couldn't breathe, she couldn't speak, she couldn't even cry out save for a disturbing gurgling noise. She collapsed further, dropping on to her side on top of the broken dishes, legs kicking out weakly while an arm reached out for... something, anything... a person, something to grab on to so she could pull herself out of whatever the fuck was doing this to her. '
Her vision blurred, hands twitching and legs kicking until--
it was over.
Just like it had begun, it ended, and Rin was able to drag in a huge breath just a little too fast. She gagged on her own air, barely giving herself enough time to roll over on to her knees and promptly throw up on to the floor.
Eugh. Gross.
She'll eventually get back up again and go to check on others, but if anyone manages to get there before she leaves they'll find her sitting up still surrounded by broken plates and (unfortunately) a bit of sick, staring at her hand and the tiny flickers of flames die out slowly, all sorts of confused.]
no subject
Fortunately Bon is one to cry quietly, so he hears when all of the plates come crashing to the ground as Rin falls over. It is a struggle, but he staggers a few steps towards the door, more worried about what is going on in there (especially after seeing the burst of blue flames for that moment) than anything that could possibly be wrong with him.
The feeling quickly passes, though, and he is finally able to push himself up against the doorway to the Distillery and stumble in.]
Okumura! Just what is-
[Aaaaaand that's puke. Gross.]
no subject
Hearing his voice gets her attention away from her shaking hand, wide blue eyes slowly moving up until she could see his face. The tears were... odd and more than startling, but her brain doesn't register it fast enough to actually ask right off.]
I... felt... l-like I was drownin'...
[Which doesn't fully explain why she threw up, but there it was.]
Why... why're you cryin'... ?
[There's an unspoken 'are you okay?' in there, but she can't seem to get all the words she wants out.]
no subject
[That's the frustrating part. He knows the feeling of loneliness that hit him, but he can't really put that into words, especially not how it hit him so suddenly.
But he's self-conscious now, and he's wiping at his face as he speaks to Rin again.]
What about you? How could you be drowning, there's no water!
no subject
[Rin is pretty much in the same boat. She doesn't want to admit to being afraid of something like that, but it's written all over her face. She doesn't mind water normally, she swam with everyone else at the beach after Kyoto, but the idea of going under and not being able to come back up again, to have her very powers suppressed inside of her... it was horrifying.
But like him she doesn't know where it came from or why, just that she saw something before it happened.
Shaking, she tries to get up, shards of plates falling off her clothing and a few drops of blood from healing scratches dropping on to the floor with the rest of the mess.
She only makes it part of the way up, though, clutching at her stomach as another, lesser wave of nausea hits her.]
God, I feel sick...
no subject
C'mon, you need to lay down.
[He'll...find someone to clean this up. Hopefully not everyone was crippled by sudden terrible feelings.]
no subject
[It'll pass in time, that horrid feeling, and she'll probably be feeling better within an hour anyway. But laying down does sound like the best option because there's no way she's cleaning up while feeling so weak on her feet. Especially when it's a sensation she's entirely unused to.
She leans against him as they move out of the kitchen, taking in and letting out deep breaths to keep from hurking again.]
... y'sure you're okay? I've never seen you-- ... like that before.
no subject
[Focusing on taking care of Rin has really helped him with not thinking about those feelings of loneliness.]
I just got hit with...something, I guess. I don't know what.
I think it got to you too.
no subject
[Rin scowled thoughtfully, but her mind wasn't good enough to wrap around any other ideas except for:]
M-maybe somethin' went wrong with the monument?
no subject
I can go check on the monument, once we get you into bed.
no subject
Luckily for both of them the apartments aren't too far away, and she doesn't have to lean against him too much for support.]
R-right... just be careful, okay?
no subject
[Bon helps Rin into her bed, but then he stands there awkwardly for a moment, wondering if he should do anything before he leaves. When he was small, his mother used to kiss him on the forehead when he was sick. Should he do the same here? But Rin isn't really sick, so...
He eventually decides not to, and he straightens up before speaking again.]
I'll be back in a bit.
no subject
She puts an arm over her eyes, blocking out the light in the room without realizing that Bon was left standing awkwardly there before deciding to leave.
She slid her arm up a little more to look at him, trying to get a smile out before he left.]
'kay... see you when you get back.
no subject
But first he will peek in to see if she is awake or not. If she is sleeping, then there is no sense in waking her.]
no subject
She peeked an eye open at hearing Bon's footsteps enter the room, and before he had a chance to decide she was asleep and leave her hand reached out to tug on his arm.]
Stay?
no subject
Well then.]
...sure.
[He sits down on the edge of Rin's bed, sitting so he can face her.]
The monument was fine, by the way.
no subject
Rin rolls over on her side after he sits, scooting back a little so he's not being shoved off accidentally. Her hand moved over, touching his gently while she nodded to his comment.]
I'unno then... hopefully it doesn't happen again...
no subject
We'll find the source of it. If it was that girl, then someone can talk to her about it.
[Since it only lasted a moment, he figures it wasn't something serious, or at least not serious enough to warrant immediate intervention.]
no subject
Another nod, and Rin closed her eyes again, letting out a sigh through her nose. At least her stomach was finally calming down, but it had left her feeling completely worn out.]
Are you feelin' okay after all that?
no subject
Bon smiles a little when Rin speaks, though.]
Yeah, I'm fine. But don't worry about me, you got hit a lot worse than I did.
no subject
Rin makes a face, and then blurts out something that... is probably a bit insensitive, all things considered.]
Y-yeah but you were actually crying!
no subject
You say that like it's weird or something.
no subject
I've never seen you cry before!
[It's weird to her ok?]
no subject
[Okay, so he was little when he cried before. But still!!1]
no subject
[Never mind that she was the one on the floor...]
