Day 201 [event post]
Who: Zahi and everyone who wants to go hunt down the cure
Open: Open
When: 201- onwards
Where: the monument, and then out on the Skyway
What: People in the Bastion are falling sick, and Zahi knows where a cure can be found. Unfortunately, it won't be easy to get to.
Format: action
Warnings: none
[On Day 201, after several people have fallen ill, another meeting is called. This time, however, it is not Nathaniel who has called for everyone. It's Zahi.]
Okay, I know everyone's been worried about the people in the hospital, and it looks like our fears weren't unfounded: some of the people who went on that last trip, they caught something.
I've been watching the symptoms, and I think I know what this is. A long time ago, back before Zayna was born, there was a terrible illness that claimed the lives of many Ura. Everyone who fell sick here, they had the same symptoms as those who caught the disease before.
On the plus side, this means that it can be cured. I know of a clinic, way out in the Terminals, where there should be some medicine stocked. Not only can we cure the sick, but we can give another kind of medicine to those who aren't sick yet, so they won't catch it at all.
The downside is that it's gonna take a while to get there. It'll be at least two days there, and possibly more to track down exactly where the clinic is, and then the same amount of time back. We're looking at a four-day minimum, which means we won't be much help to those who are sick right now. They'll either be dead or getting better by the time we get back.
Then there's the fact that it's really dangerous out there. Zayna and I were out on the Terminals before we came here, and let's just say that there's a reason we went looking for somewhere safer to stay.
If you'd rather stay here, I can understand that. The Bastion is an amazing place, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone here managed to save everyone. But I'm not a fan of putting all my eggs in one basket, so I figured it's worth a shot to go and try to get some of the medicine.
What do you guys think?

What do you guys think?

... they're Ura! They're Ura and they don't have any amulets, they can't understand us!
[Oops now she's starting to hork blood on the ground, too.]
I-I... believe... we are in a world of trouble here... that we may not be able to get out of...
no subject
Good grief what the fuck do you say to natives when you blow up a house.
SORRY! I'M SORRY I BLEW YOUR SHIT UP MAN, DON'T SHOOT! [ She shouted, clapping her hands together in typical over the head pleading fashion. She'd rather beat them up than beg, but having other people around made being any more reckless entirely too dangerous. ]
no subject
"Hey wait, I think the pink one's surrendering."
"It doesn't matter. The general's orders are to kill anyone who trespasses here. We can't risk having the disease spread, we don't have enough medicine to cure everyone if the sickness spreads here."
"But she's being really insistent about something-"
"No buts. Just do your duty, soldier."
no subject
No no no! [ She shouted, waving both hands before pointing to herself and gesturing coughing, then shaking her head no. ]
No no we're not sick! We're not---wait what the fuck... [ She huffed a sigh, snagging her amulet and yanking it off to toss at the Ura, gesturing for someone - anyone - to put it on. ]
no subject
Bon can't hear the conversation, just Roze's shouting, and then he sees her throw the amulet. Which gets him to shout.]
Just what the hell are you even doing?! Get back here, we need to go!
[Except that's going to be a mess of jibberish, unless Roze understands Japanese.
Also he's grabbing Ahime now, so he can drag her back and hopefully get her to leave with them.]
no subject
What the fuck do you want me to do, run in a hail of bullets you fat-headed pisspot?! YOU get her and run, I'LL block the damned shots! Fuckin' GO, dude!
no subject
...You know what, he's just going to pick up both Ahime and Bon and book it. He's not one to try and fight what he has no understanding of.]
no subject
[Roze that was the opposite of helpful.]
No, stop--! Listen to me! Listen to me! I couldn't understand what they were saying but I know a kill order when I see one! They don't care that we're not sick, they don't want anyone getting away with that cure--!
[Whoops she just got picked up.
But Alucard has two people to focus on, and for as injured as Ahime is there's a reason she's a warrior. She has fighting spirit keeping her going, so she manages to squirm, wiggle and eventually drop out Alucard's grip next to Roze.]
O-ow--... nn... Roze, I don't know if you can understand me right now... [Probably not, since Ahime's language sounds far more European in origin] but you need to protect them so they can get out... please... I'm not ordering you I'm asking you!
[She doesn't wait for an answer, confused or otherwise, and hobbles forward towards the men, raising her blade over her head once she's close enough to be within earshot of them.]
no subject
[Unlike Ahime, Bon cannot just wriggle out of Alucard's grasp. So he's being carried away, and he can't do anything about it.]
Stop, we have to get her too! She's going to die if we don't do something!
no subject
Fuck all those Ura. Catching the plague was a shitty thing, as was wishing ill on others, but shooting people you weren't even sure had it? Nope. She hoped they caught it, and soon. ]
no subject
Get out of here, now! I'll handle this!
[And he runs over by where Roze is, shouting something in Ura at the soldiers. Obviously Roze wouldn't be able to understand it, but whatever it is he's saying, it's getting them to actually stop and lower their weapons.
Well, all of them except that one guy in charge, he keeps his gun locked on the trio right there. And then it follows Roze into the sky, ready to shoot, because clearly the bird-woman is a bigger threat.]
no subject
[Too late. Already grabbed.
But they don't get too far away before Zahi he comes running out, and for a second Ahime over hears... something that makes her eyes go huge and her face go even more pale.
Too bad she's finally going to faint from bloodloss before she can tell anyone.]
no subject
It's that one weapon still trained on the two escaping that prompts her to action. She's seen enough of guns to know that, if his aim is good enough, all it might take is one shot. She's not going to count on Zahi calming the man down before he takes that shot.
Motioning for Aoi to stay well back, Zuko creeps the rest of the way up on the group. She takes one of the rearmost soldiers from behind, putting her swords at his throat.]
Don't even think about firing.
[...which of course will just sound like Chinese gibberish to the Ura, but sword-to-throat is a pretty universal language.]
no subject
Also, the fact that Zuko managed to sneak up on the group makes everyone else tense up. And what with being so close, it should be obvious to Zuko that most of the men here are ill-suited for this work. A couple are far too young, or too old, or look like they've never held a gun in their life. Which may explain why their shots kept missing, actually: they're clearly what's left of the people, the few lucky ones who survived the Calamity.
The one Zuko is threatening, he is just a boy, probably even younger than Zuko herself. He should be in school, not shooting at people. He looks downright terrified to be in such a position, but he's too scared to move or try to get away.
It does get the officer in charge to lower his gun, though.]
