Day 201 [event post]
Who: Zahi and everyone who wants to go hunt down the cure
Open: Open
When: 201- onwards
Where: the monument, and then out on the Skyway
What: People in the Bastion are falling sick, and Zahi knows where a cure can be found. Unfortunately, it won't be easy to get to.
Format: action
Warnings: none
[On Day 201, after several people have fallen ill, another meeting is called. This time, however, it is not Nathaniel who has called for everyone. It's Zahi.]
Okay, I know everyone's been worried about the people in the hospital, and it looks like our fears weren't unfounded: some of the people who went on that last trip, they caught something.
I've been watching the symptoms, and I think I know what this is. A long time ago, back before Zayna was born, there was a terrible illness that claimed the lives of many Ura. Everyone who fell sick here, they had the same symptoms as those who caught the disease before.
On the plus side, this means that it can be cured. I know of a clinic, way out in the Terminals, where there should be some medicine stocked. Not only can we cure the sick, but we can give another kind of medicine to those who aren't sick yet, so they won't catch it at all.
The downside is that it's gonna take a while to get there. It'll be at least two days there, and possibly more to track down exactly where the clinic is, and then the same amount of time back. We're looking at a four-day minimum, which means we won't be much help to those who are sick right now. They'll either be dead or getting better by the time we get back.
Then there's the fact that it's really dangerous out there. Zayna and I were out on the Terminals before we came here, and let's just say that there's a reason we went looking for somewhere safer to stay.
If you'd rather stay here, I can understand that. The Bastion is an amazing place, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone here managed to save everyone. But I'm not a fan of putting all my eggs in one basket, so I figured it's worth a shot to go and try to get some of the medicine.
What do you guys think?

Day 202
Roxas now lies curled up under a blanket, coughing and trying to understand how he can feel so cold when he's been told his temperature is high. His own illness isn't the foremost worry in his mind, though, and anyone coming into the room might be greeted with a hopeful if groggy question:]
Xion?
[The Samurai lingers in the room, keeping watch over its master. It won't leave, but may be persuaded to run errands if they benefit Roxas.]
no subject
[He's dressed as protectively as he could manage, wearing gloves, a white smock that can be easily bleached to disinfect it and a mask over his face. He's not taking any chances. The plague seems like a nasty way to die.]
[He approaches Roxas's bed, carrying a glass of water, a basin of cold water and a washcloth. He hasn't been able to make antipyretics just yet, but he can attempt to relieve some suffering.]
Darling? Are you awake?
no subject
[That's definitely not Xion. Who the heck is calling him darling? Roxas peers out of his blanket cocoon.]
...who're you?
no subject
[He holds out the glass of water.]
You should drink some water, darling. We can't allow you to dehydrate.
no subject
Why're you- calling me that?
no subject
Just an affectation, darling. Don't think much of it.
no subject
[That doesn't really explain it for him since he doesn't have the best vocabulary, but it doesn't seem hugely important right now.]
'm Roxas.
[In case you're doing it because you don't know his name.]
no subject
I'm Jay, darling. Do you have enough energy to wash your face or shall I do it for you? It might cool you down.
no subject
I- I can do it.
[It's not that he's offended by the idea of a stranger doing it so much as he's alarmed at the thought that he might not be able to do it himself later.]
no subject
I'm working on ... something to help the fevers, but it's going slow. I'll bring it around as soon as I have it ready, dearest.
no subject
[Just the thought of the cold water makes him shiver, but he presses the washcloth to his face anyway. His motions are sluggish, but not yet feeble.]
no subject
Unsurprising, darling. Your body's trying to cool you down. Er. Mortal immune systems aren't ... very smart.
no subject
Are you a god or something?
[Yeah, let him ask that completely casually. Well, as casually as a sick person can do anything.]

[It's Saix, on his own and... maybe looking a bit unwell himself although he's doing his damndest not to show it much.]
...I have one of the Dusks looking for her right now.
no subject
[Roxas is not in any condition to be observant right now, so Saix can hide that a while longer.]
Maybe- [cough] Maybe she went looking for Axel again.
no subject
[But that's really all he'll say on the matter.]
When did you first start feeling sick?
no subject
[Maybe it has been kind of dumb of both of them to go out on their own like that, but Saix doesn't get to say it.
He shifts under the blankets.]
I- guess when I woke up this morning. [He'd been feeling tired before, but it's normal to feel tired before you go to sleep. Not so much after waking up.]
no subject
[An awkward shift before Saix says anything else.]
Did you eat anything?
no subject
[A shiver and he tries to curl up tighter.]
Are you- here for something?
no subject
no subject
[Are sniffles a symptom here? ... No, that's just Roxas starting to tear up.]
no subject
Who knows with him.
[Point proven.]
Yet... We both know he's too much of a pain to die so easily.
no subject
[And he's been missing a long time and now Xion's missing, too. Roxas pushes his face into his pillow and just winds up coughing again.]
no subject
[Crying isn't his expertise. Coughing isn't exactly either, but he has a slightly more clear cut idea of what to do for that. While he isn't particularly sure if it will listen, Saix gives an order to the Samurai.]
Get a glass of water.
no subject
And Roxas is having a hard time saying anything between the coughing and the crying, so he just won't. Good luck, Saix.]
