Day 123 [OPEN]

Who: Everyone
Open: Open
When: Day 123
Where: All over the Bastion
What: Obligatory "We just got more people/survived a hellish experience" mingle log!
Format: Your choice!
Warnings: Shouldn't be any?

[So the past few days in the Bastion have been very hectic and a little more than emotionally stressful for everyone. About two days have come and gone since the last very large batch of arrivals have come in to the Bastion, and thankfully since then it's been relatively quiet. It's a good time to compress, meet some new people and maybe have some good food at the distillery courtesy of Rin.]

[Affectionately but accurately called Dragonfield, it should be noted. The reason for this becomes apparent as a large shadow passes over Chopin and something very large and very scaley dives into the water.]

[Paarthurnax had noted the presence of paper, after all, and hadn't wanted to land in case the rush of air from his wingbeats blew it all away.]

[But he does reappear, his head surfacing somewhat along the river before rising a bit more so that he can see what the composer is doing. Water follows the paths of his scales and scars, dripping from his horns.]

Ah, a sonaan. I recall songs they have sung in Skyrim.
orzelbialy: (♭ what... ?)

[personal profile] orzelbialy 2013-11-01 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Well that was little more than startling. Frederic had seen the dragon at least once, but having it appear like that was sudden and surprising.

Though little had been put on the paper yet, Frederic was grateful that enough consideration had been taken for it to not get ruined. He couldn't help but gape for a good minute, though. Paar was certainly larger than expected up close and for one who had only faced creatures of his size and might on the battlefield it was rather humbling to have one speak to him as an equal.]

I'm afraid I haven't been able to write much yet. An incomplete song is hardly a song at all.

May I ask the name of this magnificent creature that has graced me with it's presence?
wayofvoice: (Raan Mir Tah + Nobody grows old)

Some might say that such things are never truly complete, and that adds to their beauty. It is not my trade, however, so perhaps you are correct.

[There's just the barest shift of his head at the adjectives used towards him.]

I am merely an old dovah. There is little that is magnificent about me now. I am Paarthurnax, although you may call me Wuth Gein or 'Old One' if they are easier on your tongue. Not all find it so easy to speak dovahzul.
orzelbialy: (♭ allow me to introduce myself...)

[personal profile] orzelbialy 2013-11-01 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... yes, that holds some truth as well. I suppose it all depends on the final composition. I have more than enough songs in my repertoire that I feel I could have improved on if I had been given the time.

But such things don't matter much here, do they?

[Frederic smiled at that, and rose to his feet to give a proper gentlemanly bow.]

I am Frederic Francois Chopin, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance Sir Paarthurnax. I may not be able to speak your language, but to my ears it sounds quite lovely.

Zu'u lost pogaan kogaani. Many seem to be interested since I have arrived here. I have begun to teach some here.

[A nod to a certain large stone wall not too far off.]

It is important to keep such things alive.
orzelbialy: (♭ conduct a symphony)

Ties to one's home are always important, and more so when you are taken away from that place. That is a pain I unfortunately know well, and knew even before I came to this world.

[Frederic looks at the stone in the distance, a sad smile coming to his features.]
wayofvoice: (Feim Zii Gron + But we will escape it)

Life is not always pleasant.

[It's stated quite plainly, although softly.]

Some things can be brought here, however. You know of the shards' power?
orzelbialy: (♭ what... ?)

[personal profile] orzelbialy 2013-11-01 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
No, of course it's not. But we continue on through the bad in hopes of finding those brilliant but small pieces of good found within all existence.

[The question isn't one Frederic knows the answer to, and he shakes his head.]

I do not.
wayofvoice: (Faas Ru Maar + which I constantly)

[personal profile] wayofvoice 2013-11-01 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
They are the glittering gems that you find upon the Skyway, often dropped by the beasts there. Give enough to the Bastion and it will give back. That is what I have been told.

[A low rumbling noise comes from deep in his throat.]

I am going to attempt to bring back creatures from my home of Skyrim soon.
orzelbialy: (♭ what can you do?)

[personal profile] orzelbialy 2013-11-01 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, those. I'm afraid that the only time I saw them, we were fleeing for our lives from a creature that had injured our companion badly.

[The information earns a bit of a wide-eyed stare, though.]

Is such an amazing thing truly possible?

[If it was, then Viola could have her goats back. It would be a small comfort from home for her.]

[personal profile] wayofvoice 2013-11-01 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
It is what I have heard.
orzelbialy: (♭ what... ?)

[personal profile] orzelbialy 2013-11-01 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
That is incredible. So much destroyed and yet we can bring back pieces of our home if we give enough to the Bastion.

[It was nothing short of a miracle in Frederic's mind.]

So if I requested say... a piano, I could have one? So long as I have enough of these shards?
wayofvoice: (Gaan Lah Haas + I miss you)

[personal profile] wayofvoice 2013-11-01 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I would imagine it would be possible.

[Paarthurnax shifts his head from side to side, cracking his neck a bit.]

If you would care to see them, I venture out onto the Skyway each day to nir, hunt. I could take you with me, if you are strong of stomach, to see these shards.

It was dangerous, but I'm no stranger to such things. The last place I inhabited, albeit temporarily, was rife with creatures that saw fit to attack us over fleeing. We simply weren't properly prepared last time.

[A wry smile crossed the man's lips at that, admittedly with a bit of possibly misplaced pride in the simple fact that being in Polka's world had given him fantastical powers that were otherwise impossible where he was originally from.]

I may not look it, but I am capable of battle.
wayofvoice: (Yor Toor Shul + Good men must die)

[personal profile] wayofvoice 2013-11-01 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Then it would be all the less trouble for me.
orzelbialy: (♭ a gentlemanly depart)

[personal profile] orzelbialy 2013-11-01 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
In that case I would love to join you on the Skyway.

I will look forward to it. Tomorrow, then, when the skies clear.
orzelbialy: (♭ the man behind the music)

[personal profile] orzelbialy 2013-11-02 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I will look forward to it as well.

[ANd in the mean time, he would continue to write in preparation for the day when he could put that music to keys once more.]
