[So hey. There's this girl. She's been in this place for a while, helped out with a lot of things, and today she got to help do something awesome! Cores are important to the Bastion after all, so that's a good thing.

Except she kind of... lit herself on fire and a lot of people saw it.

Anyone want to talk to her about that?

In all seriousness, Rin can be found after all that hubbub taking a break near the apartments, outside because she really doesn't want to be in her room right now. She's nursing a bit of a wound on her thigh from sliding on her legs under the bird earlier, but whatever road rash she got from doing so is starting to fade finally. Her sword is lying next to her in the grass, and she's just on her back, watching the odd sky above the Bastion quietly.

Mostly because her ears are still kind of ringing from what Crona did.

Ringing ears won't stop her from holding a conversation, though, if anyone cares to bother her, and she's in a decent mood given their accomplishments.]

Welllll... I can't train with candles like I used to, since every attempt would be considered one, y'know?

But when the sword comes out... that's one. Until I put it back in.

[She figures if it's limited at all, then there's a chance even that "one" will burn out sooner or later, but it still lasts longer than say a single spell.]

... We could clear you a section of Skyway, get candles, and you sit with the sword out...

.... But who knows how many candles we can find.

... yeah I don't wanna use somethin' we actually need.

[Rin lets out a frustrated sigh]

Even if I can't be an exorcist here I still need to train somehow.

.... rig up cheap torches. Or use useless wood; stuff that's gotten rotted or wormy or... something. Those old stalls might have some use to them.

The way my teacher had me trainin' was to light the two candles on the outside at the same time, without lightin' anything else.

... then something like a railing without the handrail. A bunch of boards sticking up in a row, sounds close enough.

... heh. Wow. I'm actually takin' imitative with my own trainin'. Shura would actually be proud.

[As amused as she sounded, there was still a note of sadness in there. As difficult as her teacher was, she was among the many that Rin missed.]

Teachers usually like it when you don't have to be prodded to get moving.

Yeah, but most teachers aren't drunken twenty six year olds who are lazier than their students most of the time.

... True enough, but in that case they ought to be pleased that you're actually doing things.

... maybe. I'unno what Shura would think of all this, to be honest.

Some parts are harder to swallow than others, definitely.

[Still, it bothers her that she's not here. Shura was a very strong, very capable exorcist, but it goes back to what Bon said - it was random, who arrived and who didn't. When, too. But there was always that chance that even some one like Shura didn't survive...]

... So we still don't have a meatsource, if what I saw from that core was right.

Uhm. Yeah... we are. We might be able to get shards together to get some sort of farm animal here but...

[do any of them actually know how to make that work for them? Butchering for meat isn't exactly an exorcist skill.]

... Fish and birds, I can take care of those. Something like... a cow, boar, or pig? I guess its... the same in general... this isn't eaten...

[ But they're a lot bigger, and probably more gross. ]

.. although we'd probably want to keep cows for milk, or something.

They're bigger, though. There's more... parts to deal with.

Cookin' only goes so far, and swingin' a sword around with flames is only good on enemies.

[ Just raising an eyebrow at that. ]

I know that I'm no great cook, so its definitely good you're here. As for "only good on enemies", that just means you're one of the first people we'll look to - unless its lunch time or something - to go with us for searching on the Skyway. Maybe someone else will show up and not be good at fighting, but good at... taking care of places.

Maybe its just me being awkward and saying that "being good at one or two things is fine, so long as you're not picky about attempting new things".
