[So hey. There's this girl. She's been in this place for a while, helped out with a lot of things, and today she got to help do something awesome! Cores are important to the Bastion after all, so that's a good thing.

Except she kind of... lit herself on fire and a lot of people saw it.

Anyone want to talk to her about that?

In all seriousness, Rin can be found after all that hubbub taking a break near the apartments, outside because she really doesn't want to be in her room right now. She's nursing a bit of a wound on her thigh from sliding on her legs under the bird earlier, but whatever road rash she got from doing so is starting to fade finally. Her sword is lying next to her in the grass, and she's just on her back, watching the odd sky above the Bastion quietly.

Mostly because her ears are still kind of ringing from what Crona did.

Ringing ears won't stop her from holding a conversation, though, if anyone cares to bother her, and she's in a decent mood given their accomplishments.]

... True enough, but in that case they ought to be pleased that you're actually doing things.

... maybe. I'unno what Shura would think of all this, to be honest.

Some parts are harder to swallow than others, definitely.

[Still, it bothers her that she's not here. Shura was a very strong, very capable exorcist, but it goes back to what Bon said - it was random, who arrived and who didn't. When, too. But there was always that chance that even some one like Shura didn't survive...]

[ Yeah, thinking down that line... is kinda sucky. Sorry for the topic downturn. ]

... So we still don't have a meatsource, if what I saw from that core was right.

[ Time for a topic change. ]

Uhm. Yeah... we are. We might be able to get shards together to get some sort of farm animal here but...

[do any of them actually know how to make that work for them? Butchering for meat isn't exactly an exorcist skill.]

[ And then they get rabbits instead ]

... Fish and birds, I can take care of those. Something like... a cow, boar, or pig? I guess its... the same in general... this isn't eaten...

[ But they're a lot bigger, and probably more gross. ]

.. although we'd probably want to keep cows for milk, or something.

They're bigger, though. There's more... parts to deal with.

[Rin lets out a defeated sigh.]

I don't know what I'm doin'...

... yeah. Especially in cows.

[ Neither does Duke. ]

Cookin' only goes so far, and swingin' a sword around with flames is only good on enemies.

[ Just raising an eyebrow at that. ]

I know that I'm no great cook, so its definitely good you're here. As for "only good on enemies", that just means you're one of the first people we'll look to - unless its lunch time or something - to go with us for searching on the Skyway. Maybe someone else will show up and not be good at fighting, but good at... taking care of places.

Maybe its just me being awkward and saying that "being good at one or two things is fine, so long as you're not picky about attempting new things".

I'm not normally, no. I can be stubborn about a lotta things but I do like tryin' new stuff.

Stubborn is both good and bad, I've found. Get you into trouble and keep you out of it. But with how small of a group we have here, I think we're all going to end up with an odd skill list eventually.

That wouldn't surprise me. It's uh... for the greater good and all that, right

Greater good, survival, self-reliance.

[ The knight shrugs. ]

Right now, I think its probably all of them.

Mn... yeah. That makes sense.

[Rin lets out a sigh, shaking her head slowly.]

Yuki woulda been better all this...

[ Duke thinks on that for a moment. Would someone be better at this than the knight? Very likely. Brave Vesperia was better at dealing with age groups, but...

They weren't here.

Which is why the knight reaches over and casually shoves at Rin's shoulder with the intent to tip the girl over. ]

[Rin was still dealing with the effects of Crona's attack, and her balance was already compromised, even sitting up as she was. There was a wobble before she flopped backwards, partially do to the shove but partially because she just didn't care to remain upright after that.

Sorry, Duke. She's just going to lay there and stare the odd colored sky.]

(and then keywords were somewhat suitable-

[ The knight studies this behavior for a moment. Then there's a sigh and some knuckles against the side of the girl's head. ]

Yeah. It sucks, missing the familiar faces. But you know what? They aren't here. You are, they aren't, who knows exactly what happened. If you let it bring you down too much, then you start sinking. If you're sinking, then what about the rest of us, huh? We're a group now, all in this little floating island. We need everyone to stay afloat.

[hellpyre]

Yaaahh!

[The fist dropping on to her head gets a yelp and the end of her tail poofing out as she jerked back in to a sitting position. She listened, but not without a frown and her hands on the sore spot on her head.]

What if she's still out there though? I never found her statue--! ... Yuki is tough... she's the youngest certified exorcist ever, she could survive, but...

[But for how long.

It wasn't just Yuki not being there that bothered her, it was the fact that they hadn't found her.]

Then those peckers are edible.

[ Okay, so that's the first thing that came to mind. Something more serious takes another moment of thought. ]

What does this tell you?

[ Duke points at Rin's torso. Gut or heart, take a pick. ]

[The joke doesn't earn much of a response, but the motion at her does. She opens her mouth, closes it, and looks away with a pained expression.]

... that... even if she did survive... we woulda found her by now.

[She hated herself for admitting that.]
