Light years away from home, just my demons and I alone
Who: Rin Okumura and anyone else in the Bastion
When: After Groups A and B return and the Core is installed
Where: Near the apartment building
Style: [these fun things]
Status: OOOOPEN
[So hey. There's this girl. She's been in this place for a while, helped out with a lot of things, and today she got to help do something awesome! Cores are important to the Bastion after all, so that's a good thing.
Except she kind of... lit herself on fire and a lot of people saw it.
Anyone want to talk to her about that?
In all seriousness, Rin can be found after all that hubbub taking a break near the apartments, outside because she really doesn't want to be in her room right now. She's nursing a bit of a wound on her thigh from sliding on her legs under the bird earlier, but whatever road rash she got from doing so is starting to fade finally. Her sword is lying next to her in the grass, and she's just on her back, watching the odd sky above the Bastion quietly.
Mostly because her ears are still kind of ringing from what Crona did.
Ringing ears won't stop her from holding a conversation, though, if anyone cares to bother her, and she's in a decent mood given their accomplishments.]

He quietly takes a seat next to her. For a few moments he stares out at nothing, contemplating what to say, how to begin.]
...I have never seen flames quite so blue as those you produced today.
[Certainly a more tactful thing to say than to directly ask what composed of the non-human half of her blood; a demon of some sort if he were to hazard a guess.]
no subject
Rin doesn't hear him approach like she normally would, but there's enough disturbance when he sits that she's not startled by his voice. She doesn't bother opening her eyes, either, recognizing him by his words alone given that they spent enough time on the Skyway for her to distinguish between him and the other survivor they found.
Her tail gives a twitch where it lays on her stomach, and her shoulders went up in a slight shrug.]
It's a talent.
[Then, after a pause, she peeked an eye open.]
... but you have seen flames like that... ?
no subject
He 'hmm's softly in confirmation.]
There are many creatures I have encountered that create fire through various means, although rather fewer who's flames were a different hue than one normally sees. I too possess some ability to manipulate fire, although I suspect yours are a bit more closely linked to your bloodline than my own.
no subject
Ah... yeah...
[That gets her to react in a much more closed off manner, even going so far as to sit up and wrap her arms around her knees, resting her chin on them. The comment about his bloodline confirmed some of her own suspicions. She couldn't sense exactly what he was but there was enough oddity from human nature that it did ping something.]
I haven't told anyone yet. But... I think some of 'em kinda figured it out before now, just by the way I talk about demons in my world.
... I'm half, by the way. My mother was human. Oh, and Bon knows. The guy with the blonde streak? He's from my world.
no subject
He finally looks directly at her. Although his face continues to show little in the way of emotion, he seems a touch softer than he had until this point.]
...It is dangerous for those of us who are but half human. Most humans consider us as much a pariah as the parent that is fully a creature of darkness. It was clearly far different in the worlds you and the others are from to so readily show your skills with magic - [At least he assumes it's magic of some form] - but in my own, mere suspicion of possessing it could be a death sentence.

[Rin nodded slowly, blue eyes glancing away.]
I didn't choose to be his daughter, and my friends back home know that now, but... it ain't easy, no. A lotta people wanna blame me for the things he's done cause I'm some one they can actually throw their anger at. Not even my twin sister gets this much shit 'cause she didn't inherent the flames like I did.
[She hopes. The way things have been going lately... well, if Yuki is still alive she has reason to worry.]
But it's not magic. The power is uhm... what's the word-- ... inherited?
no subject
[He returns his own golden eyes to the sky.]
...Yes. Your flames are part of your inheritance, as my magic and agility are part of mine.
[Another pause. There really isn't a polite way to phrase this, is there?]
...The flames may or may not have caused the others to question what you are, but I... The scent of your blood tells of your heritage.
no subject
[At least she's not easily offended?]
I could tell you were different too, but for me it's just... a feelin', y'know?
gagtag
[It's because he's ridiculously pretty, and his hair can compete with Duke's.]

[Although he knows that someone who has received so much ridicule for her own heritage is unlikely to take this revelation particularly poorly, a part of Alucard still cynically expects Rin to scream or drive him away.]
no subject
[Nope, not screaming.]
... neat.
[... wait.]
Uhmmm not that I'm gonna freak out or anythin' but how are you gonna... y'know... survive here?
no subject
...Rin's question is, however, a valid one.]
...While blood is necessary for the survival of true vampires, I am able to survive upon the same foods as humans.
[Including things it might be inadvisable for those without iron stomachs and immune systems to consume. Wall meat anyone?]
no subject
Oh. But-- ... okay it might go over my head 'cause I really ain't all that bright... but why? What makes you different?
[Admittedly she's a little relieved he IS different though, just because she really wouldn't know how to help keep him fed like everyone else.]
no subject
[All his education is homeschooling in the 1400's, Rin. He can't be expected to understand exactly how power inheritance works with the kids resulting from inter-species romances when you quite possibly know more about genetics than he does.]
no subject
[Yup. For once Rin is knowledgeable in something!]
You're half then.
no subject
[And for the first time, he is able to admit to this fact with the knowledge that not only is he not being judged for this, but that he is speaking to someone who truly understands what it is to be half human. It's... a feeling he can't quite describe.]
no subject
[It's... something, alright. Rin knew other half demons existed, but her time in the cram school had only introduced her to other human exorcists.]
no subject
[It's true enough; his father had been almost kind before his mother had been killed, taking with her any care he might have held for humanity. He does not care to speak of his past in detail, however. Perhaps he never will if he's never pressed about it.]
no subject
[Rin shifted a bit, not really wanting to talk about her own past either. But they were on the subject, and it was difficult to not think about what happened.]
The old man died... tryin' to protect me from Satan. So... I kinda know how you feel.
no subject
...Satan himself killed your father? I had thought neither he nor God could directly affect the world...
[Admittedly, he had considered that perhaps neither truly existed, or had perhaps lost interest in the affairs of the world.]
no subject
Demons possess humans and other livin' objects in Assiah. They can't truly cross over from Gehenna, no, unless they're half like me and were already born in Assiah. But anythin' Satan possesses just burns up and dies.

...My deepest sympathies.
no subject
[Which is her way of ignoring that she's still grieving.]
Herp derp, thought I replied to this already
It's ok
