Day 244 :: This is not a proper wasteland, damnit! [OPEN]
Who: Maya Schroedinger and anyone
Open: Open
When: Day 244
Where: Around the monument
What: Maya Schroedinger tries tosteal inspect the monument.
Format: Will match yours.
Warnings: N/A
It hadn't been Maya's day, that was for sure. Waking up in what looked like a dried-up wasteland was, well, normal for her. Not waking up with her team at her side, however, was not.
Nor was discovering that the world had been torn apart, that there were only patches left! And the only remotely stable place might as well be on another continent, with the constant shifting of this sorry excuse of 'ground'!
Traversing this all had been a much needed distraction, though. It had forced her to move ever forward, to put her worries about Alfred, Todd, even Shady, not to mention Virginia and some others on the back of her mind.
And it had left her angry, really angry. Her only wish: To have a very stern talk with whoever was responsible for this, all of it. And then shoot them in the face!
After quite an odyssey, she had finally arrived at what was apparently called the Bastion. It didn't even look like anything from her world, and the crazy rambling of the only person she had met so far (the poor NPC mentioned in the FAQ) hadn't helped at all. At least he had given her an amulet with a pretty gem embedded into it, that alleviated her mood somewhat. What she had spotted shortly afterwards, though... that was different and immediately distracted her from everything else, including the toll the travel had taken on her.
The monument. Or, rather, the fact that a part of it resembled a large, pretty gem. Pretty much a mystical mega-sized gem, practically asking for her totake embrace it!
And thus, she started circling the monument. Could it be transported? What about the people that no doubt lived in this blasted place? Maybe a distraction would be needed...
[Your character can spot her walking around the monument, poking it, trying to climb it, trying to take a sample, in other words being totally suspicious and/or nuts.
Alternatively, she might spot your character, in which case she'd shout a "Hey, you! Yes, you! Get over here!" and point at them - Maya is anything but shy when it comes to requesting information on gems and gem-like objects!
And she'll likely continue to do all of this even after the first person tries to tell her off. She can be pretty persistent!]

Is monument climbing a sport around here!?
no subject
[Maya had been so lost in thoughts that the sudden voice startled her, almost making her fall. But she recovered quickly, she wouldn't be the true 'Disaster Girl of the Wasteland' if mere shock could take her for long!]
What? No! I'm - I'm just inspecting this.. Whatever this blasted thing is supposed to be!
[She was referring to whatever held the pretty part of the monument in place, of course.]
no subject
That's the monument! It eats shards and makes guitars! [That kinda rhymed...]
Unless you don't want guitars. It can make a lot of things!
no subject
[...And why would it give guitars? That ...sounded completely like bollocks!]
no subject
By the way, I'm Ibuki Mioda. Nice to meet mew!
no subject
And, err, I'm Maya. Maya Schroedinger. You might hear that name around here a lot, soon.
no subject
Nice to meet you, Mayay! Hm... so are you an adventurer?! You totally look like a cool gunslinging adventurer treasure hunter!
no subject
[After that interjection, she blinked. She was about to protect the mispronounciation of her name, but then...
...well, that made her straighten herself and jump off the monument, to land softly on the ground.]
That's right, that's exactly what I am! No treasure, no gem's safe from my hands. Treasure and Gems and jewels, I'm gathering them ALL!

...
Is even the Monument not safe from Mayay? If so... Ibuki has a small request-

A woman he'd never seen before was circling the monument with the same look in her eyes that a wild beast might cast on its prey and that was enough to make him worry, even if only a little. The last thing he or anyone else here needed was for someone to go tinkering with the heart of the Bastion and send the lot of them hurtling towards the ground.
So, with that in mind, the small Cael would approach, his eyebrow raised and his hammer slung lazily across his shoulders.]
Y'need help or somethin'?
no subject
She did notice his raised eyebrow and the weapon. Well, she could deal with this!
Or so she assumed.]First reasonable thing anybody has said around here! Could definitely use some help here or there. Like with that thing behind me. What's that?
[She gave him a confident smile. Let's see what he knew about all this!
What, polite introductions? Psshaw, Maya's favorite books were adventure novels, not handbooks of manners! ]
no subject
[He said flatly, agreeing with the woman's quick and to-the-point mannerisms; he'd graduated from that school of thought as well, so at least they'd get along in that respect.]
I reckon yer new here, huh?
no subject
[Except in caves or ruins, of course - but you expected that in such places. You certainly didn't expect a piece of desert to just drop into nothingness. That probably was why her tone sounded as if the ground had personally insulted her by not staying where it was supposed to - under her boots and nowhere else!]
That monument of yours, some special place of worship for you people here?
[Gotta fish on how important it was for them. Hey, some people were perfectly fine with adventurers plundering old ruins, so she might as well have some luck here.]
no subject
[He gave her a look which said only that he was being serious; he wasn't in the mood to drop out of the air like a rock. He could survive landing on his face from great heights, but he wasn't about to try riding the Bastion down to earth.]
Sorry t'say though, there prolly ain't enough left o'where your from t'go fallin' away anymore.
[Wow Raile, way to be blunt about it.]
no subject
[Maya glared at him for a moment, as if the monument not being up for grabs was somehow his fault, before taking a look at the monument again. Was this thing supposed to be why the ground here wasn't falling apart? Oh come on...
Come to think of it, that amulet she had been given did have a suspicious gem-like shard in it as well. She was about to point out that, surely, if you could add shards, then substracting some shards should be fine, possibly, maybe, but then he dropped a fact that she had tried to NOT think about. That shut her up for a moment, clearly making her look for words.]
...What, all of it? I don't believe that for a second! It was a blasted wasteland to begin with, it's probably... Just missing the parts I was on...
[Then why was her family not here with her?]
no subject
[He'd never been a tactful individual, but only in the vein that he didn't see a reason to beat around the bush. You couldn't really hotfoot around "your world blew up" at any rate. At the very least though, he wasn't above showing some sympathy for someone going through a hard time.]
'M sorry fer yer loss.
no subject
That's... just fine. It was going out with a whimper to begin with, now it went out with a bang, instantly.
[As obvious as a way if coping it was, Maya simply had to turn it around like this. ]
...You said this monument of yours makes things with some shards or whatnot. What's stopping me from finding an amazingly big one and just making a big thing - like my world?

What are you doing?
no subject
What does it look like? I'm inspecting this gemstone here, it's the one noteworthy thing in this place.
[Well, it was... if one ignored the collapsing ground, the donut tree, or the random assortment of buildings.]
no subject
It's not just a gemstone. It's important to all of our well-being, including yours while you're here, so you're better off leaving it alone.
no subject
Bah, that's something only a scaredy-cat would say. Nobody should worry so much that they can't even inspect a pretty gemstone.
[Well, unless that someone actually knew that the 'gemstone' really held the Bastion together, of course. Then it would be perfectly reasonable.]
no subject
Maybe you can fly or something, but for most of us, that's a big problem.
And I must curse at my timezone now! I hope you're fine continuing tomorrow.
I collect gems, I know exactly how to extract them without damage. Damaging them would defeat the purpose of gathering them in the first place!
always!
What would you do with it anyway? There's no one to sell it to and no better place to display it.
:) *wave*
[She smiled on that question. That was an easy one.]
I'd gather it, of course, for their sparkle. I wouldn't sell them.
