Day 244 :: This is not a proper wasteland, damnit! [OPEN]
Who: Maya Schroedinger and anyone
Open: Open
When: Day 244
Where: Around the monument
What: Maya Schroedinger tries tosteal inspect the monument.
Format: Will match yours.
Warnings: N/A
It hadn't been Maya's day, that was for sure. Waking up in what looked like a dried-up wasteland was, well, normal for her. Not waking up with her team at her side, however, was not.
Nor was discovering that the world had been torn apart, that there were only patches left! And the only remotely stable place might as well be on another continent, with the constant shifting of this sorry excuse of 'ground'!
Traversing this all had been a much needed distraction, though. It had forced her to move ever forward, to put her worries about Alfred, Todd, even Shady, not to mention Virginia and some others on the back of her mind.
And it had left her angry, really angry. Her only wish: To have a very stern talk with whoever was responsible for this, all of it. And then shoot them in the face!
After quite an odyssey, she had finally arrived at what was apparently called the Bastion. It didn't even look like anything from her world, and the crazy rambling of the only person she had met so far (the poor NPC mentioned in the FAQ) hadn't helped at all. At least he had given her an amulet with a pretty gem embedded into it, that alleviated her mood somewhat. What she had spotted shortly afterwards, though... that was different and immediately distracted her from everything else, including the toll the travel had taken on her.
The monument. Or, rather, the fact that a part of it resembled a large, pretty gem. Pretty much a mystical mega-sized gem, practically asking for her totake embrace it!
And thus, she started circling the monument. Could it be transported? What about the people that no doubt lived in this blasted place? Maybe a distraction would be needed...
[Your character can spot her walking around the monument, poking it, trying to climb it, trying to take a sample, in other words being totally suspicious and/or nuts.
Alternatively, she might spot your character, in which case she'd shout a "Hey, you! Yes, you! Get over here!" and point at them - Maya is anything but shy when it comes to requesting information on gems and gem-like objects!
And she'll likely continue to do all of this even after the first person tries to tell her off. She can be pretty persistent!]

[She shrugged.]
But I don't meet musicians much, ruins don't have good acoustics.

Ibuki can handle a lot of instruments! But she's usually the lead singer and guitarist!
No, Maya, that's not the kind of guitar you're thinking of
[Then what were you doing in them, Maya?]
Bit nostalgic, that kind of music.
no subject
And then, when Ibuki's band is ready for the stage, I'll put on the best performance the Bastion has ever seen!
[... she might be getting a bit distracted from her cooking...?]
no subject
Makes me wonder what that music of yours is like, though. Can't imagine to be THAT different from what you'd hear in Gunner's Heaven or the like.
no subject
Once we finish eating, Ibuki can-!
[That reminds her... she checks her cooking-oh, looks like it's ready (probably realistically it wouldn't be that fast but-idk)!]
[She'll serve up two servings, one for herself and one for Maya]
Mammoth steak, steamed carrots, and Ibuki fries!
[... those pan fried potato slices? They were cut into a shape somewhat resembling Ibuki...]
no subject
Is that... kinda... you? The horn things are like your hair, and the overall shape...
[That made her giggle, then immediately cough to cover that up. Sheesh!]
no subject
Just don't mistake the real Ibuki for potatoes!
[she will sit down to eat, too]
no subject
That's... not bad!
no subject
Hm... but Ibuki believes she still has plenty of room to improve!
[She slices open her mammoth steak... not quite done how she'd like, but at least she hadn't overcooked it]

Ibuki's pretty sure her world didn't have any of those! Just normal cats!

The strangest animal Ibuki has met was a black and white bear, but Ibuki would rather not think about him as much as possible...
[Though it was hard not to think about that bizarre situation at times...]

[She padded her side, apparently trying to imply that she included herself there, as she had, well, padded the place she kept one of her pistols, a gesture that made more sense among desperados than, well, highschool girls...]
no subject
...
What's Maya patting?
[Even less among Japanese highschool girls, given that guns were practically outlawed where she came from. Quite the opposite of gun crazy 'merica]
no subject
[Maya blinked. She then looked at her side. At this point it dawned on her.]
...Oh!
[She twisted a bit, showing her holster. One of them, anyway.
She actually sounded a bit surprised.]
Not normal where you're from?

[And now, in this place... she could very well end up in a position where she might need to defend herself. That run in with the ghost earlier, after all...]
Can you teach Ibuki?
no subject
[Maya wasn't really fond of people that got themselves into danger and risked getting themselves killed. Not at all. But Ibuki, at least, didn't seem like that. Hopefully. ]
I suppose I could. But keep in mind that you're still better off staying in a safer area if you're not used to danger.
no subject
Don't worry, I'm not going to run off just because I know how to fire a gun... I've seen a few people fight and... I know it'll be awhile before I can even think about running off on my own.
Not that I want to run off on my own even when I reach that kind of level, Ibuki prefers to keep company with other people whatever the situation!

[Maya was in a bid of a bind here. On the one hand, the whole hard-ass attitude she was cultivating clashed a bit with, well, just helping Ibuki. On the other hand, she felt bad for a person that had probably been whisked from their world after it got destroyed - and couldn't even defend herself!
What would her heroine have done if that had happened in a novel...?]
F-fine, I'll try. But once I do, you better follow what I say to the letter, guns aren't toys!

Ibuki will be your friend forever!!
