Day 244 :: This is not a proper wasteland, damnit! [OPEN]
Who: Maya Schroedinger and anyone
Open: Open
When: Day 244
Where: Around the monument
What: Maya Schroedinger tries tosteal inspect the monument.
Format: Will match yours.
Warnings: N/A
It hadn't been Maya's day, that was for sure. Waking up in what looked like a dried-up wasteland was, well, normal for her. Not waking up with her team at her side, however, was not.
Nor was discovering that the world had been torn apart, that there were only patches left! And the only remotely stable place might as well be on another continent, with the constant shifting of this sorry excuse of 'ground'!
Traversing this all had been a much needed distraction, though. It had forced her to move ever forward, to put her worries about Alfred, Todd, even Shady, not to mention Virginia and some others on the back of her mind.
And it had left her angry, really angry. Her only wish: To have a very stern talk with whoever was responsible for this, all of it. And then shoot them in the face!
After quite an odyssey, she had finally arrived at what was apparently called the Bastion. It didn't even look like anything from her world, and the crazy rambling of the only person she had met so far (the poor NPC mentioned in the FAQ) hadn't helped at all. At least he had given her an amulet with a pretty gem embedded into it, that alleviated her mood somewhat. What she had spotted shortly afterwards, though... that was different and immediately distracted her from everything else, including the toll the travel had taken on her.
The monument. Or, rather, the fact that a part of it resembled a large, pretty gem. Pretty much a mystical mega-sized gem, practically asking for her totake embrace it!
And thus, she started circling the monument. Could it be transported? What about the people that no doubt lived in this blasted place? Maybe a distraction would be needed...
[Your character can spot her walking around the monument, poking it, trying to climb it, trying to take a sample, in other words being totally suspicious and/or nuts.
Alternatively, she might spot your character, in which case she'd shout a "Hey, you! Yes, you! Get over here!" and point at them - Maya is anything but shy when it comes to requesting information on gems and gem-like objects!
And she'll likely continue to do all of this even after the first person tries to tell her off. She can be pretty persistent!]

Maybe you can fly or something, but for most of us, that's a big problem.
And I must curse at my timezone now! I hope you're fine continuing tomorrow.
I collect gems, I know exactly how to extract them without damage. Damaging them would defeat the purpose of gathering them in the first place!
always!
What would you do with it anyway? There's no one to sell it to and no better place to display it.
:) *wave*
[She smiled on that question. That was an easy one.]
I'd gather it, of course, for their sparkle. I wouldn't sell them.
o/
That's stupid. It doesn't even mean anything to you.
Re: o/
[Maya considered the Gem-like things here to be like those from her world, after all. As silly as it was.]
I've travelled one world in search for them, and I'm not going to let being on another stop me from that!
no subject
You want to search for shards, fine, but the Monument isn't some prize to collect.
no subject
[Oh, it had hit her hard for sure - having her family and
friendsteam around her had been something she had gotten so used to that not having them close by was just... wrong. But that was something she would definitely not show if she could help it.]As for those shards you mentioned, aren't they just a shabby imitation compared to this thing?
[At least the term 'shard' made them sound like it. Well, if one wasn't someone used to the Bastion.]
no subject
I don't care if you sulk or not, but you should understand the rules here are different from what you're used to.
Shards are what help us rebuild. I guess you could use them to have the Monument make you some real gems, if that's the only thing that matters to you.
no subject
[She shook her head.]
Using those shards to make gems... where's the point in that? Something that wasn't won or found is meaningless. Everyone can just buy things.
[Says the girl from a rich family.]
no subject
How should I know? The whole thing seems pretty pointless to me.
no subject
[She sad that without even a hint of irony and an entirely straight face.]
I don't care if you get it, but nevermind. I guess I could leave this 'monument' here for now.
[Not as if she could manage to move it in the first place right now...]
Surely there must be other treasures worthy of going after around here, or is this place so run-down you've run out of those entirely?
no subject
[All the skepticism of her first remark... and kind of the second, but at least she's leaving it alone for the moment.]
I guess there might be "treasure" out on the Skyway somewhere. Most of us are more interested in practical salvage.
no subject
[Maybe going for a particularly large one could be a start...?]
no subject
[She says this, however, as though she is not one of these people.]
no subject
So what do you do, then? Other than trying to prevent newcomers with perfectly legitimate reasons to take the monument from doing so, that is.

So you're too worried to go out yourself and instead send other people to do the dirty job.
[Which was still more useful than hunting treasure...<(small>]

Do you think I'm not capable?
*Disagrees with Maya*
Don't know, haven't seen you in action. But you don't look like much more than monster fodder, really.

Feel free to try me, you'd be in for a very rude awakening.
