Day 244 :: This is not a proper wasteland, damnit! [OPEN]
Who: Maya Schroedinger and anyone
Open: Open
When: Day 244
Where: Around the monument
What: Maya Schroedinger tries tosteal inspect the monument.
Format: Will match yours.
Warnings: N/A
It hadn't been Maya's day, that was for sure. Waking up in what looked like a dried-up wasteland was, well, normal for her. Not waking up with her team at her side, however, was not.
Nor was discovering that the world had been torn apart, that there were only patches left! And the only remotely stable place might as well be on another continent, with the constant shifting of this sorry excuse of 'ground'!
Traversing this all had been a much needed distraction, though. It had forced her to move ever forward, to put her worries about Alfred, Todd, even Shady, not to mention Virginia and some others on the back of her mind.
And it had left her angry, really angry. Her only wish: To have a very stern talk with whoever was responsible for this, all of it. And then shoot them in the face!
After quite an odyssey, she had finally arrived at what was apparently called the Bastion. It didn't even look like anything from her world, and the crazy rambling of the only person she had met so far (the poor NPC mentioned in the FAQ) hadn't helped at all. At least he had given her an amulet with a pretty gem embedded into it, that alleviated her mood somewhat. What she had spotted shortly afterwards, though... that was different and immediately distracted her from everything else, including the toll the travel had taken on her.
The monument. Or, rather, the fact that a part of it resembled a large, pretty gem. Pretty much a mystical mega-sized gem, practically asking for her totake embrace it!
And thus, she started circling the monument. Could it be transported? What about the people that no doubt lived in this blasted place? Maybe a distraction would be needed...
[Your character can spot her walking around the monument, poking it, trying to climb it, trying to take a sample, in other words being totally suspicious and/or nuts.
Alternatively, she might spot your character, in which case she'd shout a "Hey, you! Yes, you! Get over here!" and point at them - Maya is anything but shy when it comes to requesting information on gems and gem-like objects!
And she'll likely continue to do all of this even after the first person tries to tell her off. She can be pretty persistent!]

Re: 2/2
Are you trying to make me the bad guy here?! I'll just make it mine... Where it is, right now. So it can stay here, for now?
[It was one thing to smack down some self-righteous loon talking about justice, but another to do the same with someone who, well, seemed quite scared and helpless. That wasn't something the 'Disaster Girl of the Wasteland' would've done!]
no subject
Ibuki doesn't mind if you claim it, as long as it stays where it is. But does Ibuki still get to use it?
no subject
[Maya brushed back her hair. It was nice to get some proper recognition for one!]
no subject
In the meantime, Ibuki thinks she's hungry! Are you hungry? Ibuki thinks we should go get some food!
no subject
What do people eat around here?
[She hadn't even thought of that yet...]
no subject
[She'll start leading the way to the kitchen]
We eat a lot of things!
Chicken, beef, eggs, donuts, mammoth, tomatoes, corn, bread, mammoth, donuts...
Real mammoth!
no subject
I wonder if any of that is fit for my tastes...
...and what is a Mammoth, of all things? Some sort of local delicacy or what?
no subject
[Actually now that she thinks about it-]
Do you have elephants where you come from? If you don't, Ibuki's not sure how to explain them properly... but Ibuki can show you to them after we eat!
no subject
Though if one were to attack, I'd deal with it swiftly.
no subject
But you're right! Paar-ojiisan the dragon is a lot more impressive! But he's not for eating!
no subject
[She paused as Ibuki mentioned the 'dragon'. Maybe this world wasn't so different after all...]
...Dragon? Are we talking the beasts from the myths here? Huge horns, hoards, the like?
[Maya was reminded of her encounters with a dragon, the one Virginia's entourage had used back then...]
no subject
no subject
[There couldn't be... right?]
no subject
Did Mayay have a run in with a sheriff riding on a dragon or something?
no subject
no subject
Ibuki senses a deep rivalry between you and the rambunctious lassie!
no subject
Not that she managed to, of course.
no subject
Mayay must have scared her off with her impressive skills!
But anyway, we're here! [in the kitchen] What would Mayay like Ibuki to prepare? Ibuki's not the best cook, but I think I'm at least decent!
no subject
...
[The kitchen was... ...well, a kitchen. Maya wasn't sure what she should have expected. Well...]
How about something with Mammoth? Can't be worse than vulture stew with beans.
[She still wasn't sure on why Ibuki was saying her name so oddly. Ibuki had an odd way of talking, maybe it was that...?]
no subject
[She'll get some mammoth meat and start preparing it]
Just mammoth?
no subject
Something filling would be good too. Maybe some carrots or potatoes or whatnot.
no subject
[after a bit of searching, she holds up a pair of potatoes as if she made a great discovery]
Yes! Potatoes!
Would Mayay like her potato baked, mashed, or other?
... Ibuki strongly suggests other!
no subject
[What did you do with potatoes, really? Well, probably more than just the usual 'throw them into a pot and cook for a while' thing?]
no subject
[okay it won't be much of a surprise for long. She'll cut them into slices and then... proceed to cut them into specific shapes? but before Maya can see just what those shapes are, she tosses them into a pan. Pan fried potato slices!]
[... also, she's steaming the carrots and ovening the mammoth steaks]
[This'll all somehow come out at the same time don't worry about timing]

No, Maya, that's not the kind of guitar you're thinking of
