What: After returning with two new arrivals, Rin decides to break out some food and a table to mingle around so people can get to know each other. Meanwhile she's acting a little... spacier than usual.

[With two more new arrivals to the Bastion, Rin has gone to the trouble of setting up a small table just outside the Distillery kitchen, covered with a cloth and laid out with several different kinds of food.

There's not a lot of variety, since they're still running on finite resources, but there's enough there for everyone to have a good amount of food, especially since their two new survivors are probably hungry.

There's some grilled fish, steamed rice, corn and a few other vegetables and fruits, as well as some various drinks (no Spirits, though) take from the distillery itself.

Hopefully this will prompt a few people to mingle about and get to know their new neighbors.]

Rin in the kitchen

[Should anyone poke their head in to the kitchen, they might find their resident cooking half-demon working on a few more dishes to put out. But she seems a mite distracted...

Obviously something is on her mind.]

[Well, Ippo had said he wanted to help Rin around the kitchen; and this seemed like as good a time as any once he caught the smell of food on the wind. He quickly dressed and made his way to the kitchen, poking his head in through the door with his trademark dopey smile]

Rin-sempai? I smelled food and thought you might like some help!

Ah--!

[Oops you startled her. For some one who could usually hear people coming, that's a little... odd.

She nearly drops the pan in her hands, but at the last second she catches it before it hits the ground.]

Eheh... y-yeah I might... need some help.

[Well...that was odd enough to pique Ippo's curiosity as he entered the kitchen. Rin-sempai wasn't usually so on edge...let alone having a stutter to her speech...]

Rin-sempai, is everything okay? You seem...a little off...no offense.

It's nothin'! I'm just tired, that's all! Gettin' those two new people here was kinda exhausting.

[half a lie. It was something that could wear people out, but she usually had an abundance of energy when she wasn't upset over things.]

[Something wasn't quite right here...call it his boxer's instinct, but something was nagging at the back of his head that just told him things in this situation were well out of the norm]

I imagine it would be...but you seem like you're thinking really hard about something. Coach used to get that distant look in his eyes whenever he watched me training.

[Maka is pretty shitty at socializing in actuality, it's probably why he hangs out with cats. Any excuse to keep from mingling is good, so naturally the next course is to bother Rin.]

Maybe I'm not trying hard enough. [But she puts the fish down.] What else ya cookin' in here?

[ Tris still wobbles quite a bit, and really probably ought to be taking a nap somewhere, but she is rolling up her sleeves to look about the kitchen.

Because yes, the two newcomers are hungry. And Tris actually likes cooking. ]

[Rin looks up from her current task, obviously not all mentally there]

oh, uh yeah I am right now. Mireille is restin'.

If there's an oven, I can get some bread started. Maybe some spicecookies.

[ Because Tris knows Briar loves those. The redhead rolls up her sleeves, twitching some of the breezes she keeps to make the kitchen have better airflow as she looks to see what there is. ]

There's an oven! Its that big wood oven in the wall behind me! What ingredients do you need?

[ Tris will explain what she needs as she heads over to check how much wood it has, because the mun isn't exactly sure what's needed for either. But she can apparently make them in a few hours so its all good. ]

Where do you keep the things for baking?

[Kaoru slides in with a little something he made earlier~!]

Rin-chan... ta-da~! [you are now the proud owner of a new, handmade apron. He couldn't find enough trims to make it too horrendously girly so be thankful it is not more frilly than it already is. It's not pink, either, which can only be a good thing...]

[Rin turns around from her work with a slow blink--

until she sees the apron.

Girly or not, she still lets out a loud squeal because apron yes please.]

Kaoru-kun! It's lovely!

[can't resist flourishing it a little bit. He's glad to get a happy squeal out of her, after the time she's been having lately]

[Rin happily and excitedly takes the apron, slipping it on and tying the back ties with practiced ease. She's been missing her aprons, though the ones she had back home were all plain, solid colors and decidedly utilitarian.

It's actually nice to have something personalized, for once.]
