Day 81 | Action | Open - Two mages for the price of one
Who: Briar, Tris, and hopefully others eventually
Open: Open
When: Day 81
Where: The Skyway
What: Both of them waking up, trying to figure out where they are, why Tris is four years older, and finding their way to the Bastion (with or without help).
Format: action
Warnings: None yet
[The first thing Briar noticed was the daylight playing against his eyelids. The last thing he could remember was going after Evvy - Evvy. Where is she? If he got brained by a piece of stone from the building and passed out... Carefully he felt his skull. No cracks or anything. Why was it day now? Magic?
He tested his magical connections, starting with the girls, like always. Except...instead of them all being strained by distance, Tris' was thick. Like she was nearby. He sat up, finally opening his eyes and looking around. There, that looked like her, but...He blinked.]
Coppercurls? When'd you grow up?

Coppercurls? When'd you grow up?
no subject
[ Briar, you do remember how Tris is lovely with her temper? Its still true. There's a glass dragon that is chinking worriedly as Tris attempts to lever herself upright - with far to many grimaces for her to be perfectly fine. ]
no subject
He doesn't really expect her to take it, but an offer never hurts, right? She probably won't let of sparks or slap it away, anyway. Not if sitting up hurts.]
Must've been more rain where you were. [She looks way older than he remembers, but she probably would spark if he said that.]
no subject
Well. Suddenly his comment about "when did you grow up" makes sense. Briar doesn't have... that look to his eyes. The one that came from that war with the Yanjing emperor. ]
Your diet of grubs and leaves keeps stunting you.
[ Chime takes to the air in worried circles and she would continue to not take that hand but ah.
No she needs the help. Briar won't comment about that, beyond a 'what hurt you', right? Even if he's younger. ]
no subject
He plants his free hand on his hip.]
I haven't been eating just grubs and leaves; I like my food. You know that.
[There's a pause as he watches Chime.] What's with her? And what is she?
[He doesn't know if Chime's a guy or a girl, but she's making distressed sounds and Tris probably wouldn't like him to call her an it.
He keeps an eye on Tris as she gets up, before commenting:]
I'm still taller than you. Those grubs and leaves must be doing me some good. You should try them sometime.
no subject
A mage had an accident. That accident just so happens to be Chime.
[ Now that she's upright, why yes, Briar is shorter than she remembered. Still taller than her, which gets a flat look for the reminder, Chime settling carefully on her shoulder and... well, the dragon looks a bit needing of reassurance as it tucks up against the side of her head. ]
I can't live off of bird-food.
[ Annnddd.. anything more is going to wait. She is staring blankly at the surface they're standing on. This doesn't look like anything she'd expect to see in Namorn... or wherever it was Briar had been. ]
no subject
Huh. She's pretty though.
[Prettier than what would've happened if any of them had an accident.
He looks around more, trying to figure out if it's familiar at all, and where someone else might be.]
Never said you had to live off it; just eat some with the rest of your meal. Ever seen anything like this place?
[It doesn't look like anything he's seen before, but Tris had gone to a different place. Maybe she knows where they are. If not...he does have his mage kit.]
no subject
And she knows it.
[ Yeah.... Tris may tug a braid over an ear and lightly finger the end of it. ]
.... Not in Namorn or Tharios.
no subject
Not Chammur either. [A blink.] I thought Daj' went to Namorn. What were you doing there?
[He adjusts his grip on his with a sigh. The plants talking to him weren't telling him anything useful.]
We gonna wait here or hobble off 'til we find someone who knows where we are? [And how to get back to where we were, he thought. I need to find Evvy.]
no subject
[ Tris would rather not go anywhere, with how much she aches.
On the other hand... ]
I don't like this place.
[ They should probably move. ]
no subject
[If it was the Empress...he's not that surprised. Nobles apart from Duke Vedris usually aren't that nice. Like Lady Zenadia.
Focus on the situation at hand. Evvy can handle herself for a little longer.]
Let's get to hobbling then. [He offers her his arm. He could try carrying her, but he doesn't know how long they'll be walking.]
A horse step all over you a couple weeks ago or something?
no subject
[ Don't make a habit of this, Briar. Tris takes that arm. ]
I made very good friends with a staircase. With the help of a curse.
[ Chime takes to the air, circling them once then flying a little ahead. ]
no subject
[Well, good Bags do exist...Sandry and her uncle are proof of that, even if Sandry can be awful stupid at times.
He frowns.]
How'd you make someone mad enough to put a curse on you, Coppercurls? Usually you just scare them off with some of that lightning of yours.
no subject
[ And steadily walking after Chime time. ]
no subject
[There's something scary about all nearby plants trying to make someone plant food, including the vine tattoos on his hands, okay. It's just not as flashy as lightning.
Following the pretty glass dragon!]
no subject
She stopped walking, a worn leather bag over one shoulder, her regular, non-demon slaying sword in one hand. She cast her gaze upward, shielding her vision with a free hand.
Whatever it was, it didn't look to be a normal enemy, but it was getting closer.]
Oi! Bon! D'ya see that?
no subject
I do. Let's find some cover and scout it out first.
[If it is a foe, having cover will help to save their asses.]
no subject
[Rin didn't think it was an enemy, but she wasn't entirely sure she could trust her gut feeling this time around.
Nodding, she slipped her sword back in it's case at her hip and followed Bon to find some place to hide until they could figure out what it was.]
There is little tagging order-
People ahead. I think they saw Chime. I see a sword.
[ Tris brings a hand to toy with those loose braids by her ears, but... Well, they can meet Chime. ]
very little
What, can you see what she does or something? I thought she was someone else's accident.
[But if she saw a sword...he checks his wrist knives quickly. Still there. Hopefully it won't come to that or the red seed packets.
Finding out exactly how Tris saw them can wait.]
/FORCES TAGGING ORDER ON EVERYONE no I'm kidding
Ain't attackin'... ain't doin' much of anythin'...
You're the one who broke tagging order 8|
[Rin isn't the only one with a weapon. Bon has a gun tucked in a holster on his waist.]
I think we should follow it, and see what it's doing.
no subject
Chime circles and lands and makes chinking noises at Tris. ]
Do we want to wait here?
[ She doesn't think she needs to be sparking yet, but just in case it is needed they can go and stand off to the side. ]
no subject
Fine Tris. Don't answer his question.
He shakes his head though.]
Why wait for them to come to us? It's not like we can't handle ourselves.
I don't like this place either.
no subject
Whatever was out there, it wasn't the usual fare of monsters that they would normally face, and for all they knew it might not even be dangerous.
She was probably going to get yelled at for what she did next (well "probably" nothing, she would because it was being reckless again) but after a good five minutes of nothing happening, she had a mental "fuck it" moment and hopped over the wall, taking off at a running pace down the Skyway path in the direction she had seen the glimmer go down.]
no subject
Oi! Okumura!
[A few seconds later, Bon throws himself over the wall to go running after her. Hopefully whatever is down there is friendly.]
no subject
[ Expecting a short, plump redhead to be the perch of that glass creature, and a tall, dark haired tan-skinned boy to be helping her along? No? Too bad, they were expecting you. Even if Tris looks like she ought to be in bed yet... ]
no subject
Just the two of them?
[She'd never said how many she'd seen.
He's holding a cloth...briefcase-ish thing in one hand, but neither of them have any visible weapons. Unless they think Chime is one.]
no subject
[That was directed at Bon, seconds before she picked up speed. She could smell people - humans, survivors more than likely, now that she was finally close enough for their scent to come to her on the very light wind of the Skyway.
Rounding a corner, she stumbled to a halt. She didn't want to charge in there and startle them, but she wanted them to know they weren't alone out there, either.]
Heeeeey! Over heeeere!
[she called out, waving a hand in the air. She did have weapons on her - two swords even, but one was in a covered case on her shoulder - but they were all put away at the moment. She wasn't a threat, even if she did look slightly odd.]
no subject
But he nearly runs into her when she stops suddenly. He has to brace himself against the corner to keep from tumbling over her. Then he looks up, and he sees the two people.]
More survivors, I guess.
no subject
[ Yep two people and a shiny on one shoulder. Well, as Tris starts closer, and the space between the two groups grows smaller, Chime takes to the air again, circling out toward the waving (and weirdly dressed) girl and the boy with two hair colors. ]
no subject
Wanna bet they know what this place is?
[Different clothes don't matter that much, but he'll ask later just in case Sandry or someone else wants to know.]
no subject
[well that was a cheerful greeting from the girl with the tail]
Sorry if we startled you!
no subject
It's dangerous out here, which is why we were cautious. I'm Ryuuji Suguro, and she's Rin Okumura.
no subject
And Chime spirals about, studying the newcomers with curious clinking noises. ]
And that's Chime. How dangerous is 'dangerous'.
[ Other than this lack of ground under what they're walking on. That's always fairly dangerous. ]
no subject
You two been here long? Wherever here is, anyway.
[He wants to know the answer to that too.
The tail is interesting though.]
