Light years away from home, just my demons and I alone
Who: Rin Okumura and anyone else in the Bastion
When: After Groups A and B return and the Core is installed
Where: Near the apartment building
Style: [these fun things]
Status: OOOOPEN
[So hey. There's this girl. She's been in this place for a while, helped out with a lot of things, and today she got to help do something awesome! Cores are important to the Bastion after all, so that's a good thing.
Except she kind of... lit herself on fire and a lot of people saw it.
Anyone want to talk to her about that?
In all seriousness, Rin can be found after all that hubbub taking a break near the apartments, outside because she really doesn't want to be in her room right now. She's nursing a bit of a wound on her thigh from sliding on her legs under the bird earlier, but whatever road rash she got from doing so is starting to fade finally. Her sword is lying next to her in the grass, and she's just on her back, watching the odd sky above the Bastion quietly.
Mostly because her ears are still kind of ringing from what Crona did.
Ringing ears won't stop her from holding a conversation, though, if anyone cares to bother her, and she's in a decent mood given their accomplishments.]

[No really she can't argue with that because she has no idea what 'contest' means.]
Weeeell... it's not just that I'm half, it's cause of who my real dad is.
no subject
[If he's really as bad as Rin says, and all...]
no subject
[And more for Maka's benefit than her own, she clarifies-]
Lord of Gehenna and father of the Eight Demon Kings.

That guy?
I thought he was a myth.
[...Oh he said something...blunt and insensitive again.
Maka clears his throat and clarifies himself--]
Look, I...my dad is a womanizer and an alcoholic, but at the same time he's the strongest Demon Weapon in Death City--no, the world, even. All my life, people have expected me to be just as much of a "charmer" as him, and it...made me scared to interact with people.
[Read: Girls.]
I'm not saying this is the same or anything, just that...I dunno, I feel you.

[Rin pulls a face at that because really, it does. Sure things have sucked for her but still, she wouldn't know what she'd do if she had to live with that ever day. At least Yuki was some one worth aspiring to be, even if it was annoying that everyone expected more of her for it.]
It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for what happened when I was born.
no subject
[Well duh, of course it was something bad.]
I know you're not asking for my opinion on the matter, but the circumstances that happened around or on your birth have nothing to do with you as a person. Um--I've read the Bible a few times, even though Christianity is kind of an ancient religion in our world...there was a verse that said "the son shall not suffer for the sin of his father."
...I mean...obviously you're not a son, you're a daughter, but you get what I'm saying? You shouldn't carry the guilt of that just because your father is some demon king. Kick his ass for being shitty, that's what I'm aiming for with my dad.

Funny thing, that... Exorcists deal a lot with religion, but everyone seems to ignore that one passage when it comes to me.
no subject
[Pffft. Religions that don't have balance, how silly.]
Lord Death wouldn't allow something like that to happen. We eventually allied ourselves with the Witches to fight a common enemy, that's how laid back he is.

The night Yuki and I were born, hundreds died from the same blue flames you saw earlier. The old man-- ... Father Fujimoto rescued us, basically goin' against the orders of the Vatican, which were to kill us and our mother.
I'unno what happened to her. I guess she died, but he refused to talk about it. Our family name is Okumura because he tried to raise us both as human for fifteen years. Yuki didn't get the power from Satan, but I did, and the reason my sword is the way it is, is because it sealed my power and made it so I could be human.
But... I didn't know all this. Not until last year. And I didn't know about Blue Night until then either. So once people found out I was the daughter of Satan, they turned their hatred of him on me.

[Of course that's easy for him to say, but besides that, there are several associates of his in his own world that...]
My friend Black*Star, she came from the Star clan of ninja, they were assassins for hire and eventually became Kishin eggs themselves because of their love of killing--that'd be sort of like a human actually becoming a demon to put it in your terms. She was taken in by the Academy and raised to be a Meister just the same as the rest of us. Yes, people accuse her of being just the same as her clan, but she's nothing like them and she doesn't let that get her down. She made people respect her and see her for who she really is.
So--don't say that it "doesn't work" like that, people can change their minds, and--
[Ugh he's just--
Yeah, going to hug her now, this is ridiculous.]
no subject
She wasn't expecting that at all, so her initial reaction is to tense up, but the surprise fades after a second and she slumps.]
Did she grow up knowin' about it, though?
no subject
...Yeah. She wasn't insulated as easily from that as she could have been...especially not since she was adopted by an Academy official. Everybody challenged Sid on doing that since the day he took her in.
Ah, that and she wouldn't have been able to avoid it anyway...the mark of the Star clan was on her at birth.
no subject
I think that'd be easier. Knowin' your whole life instead of findin' out on accident after fifteen years. I'unno... how to deal with it all the time. Only thing I can do is move forward, become an exorcist and finally kick Satan's ass for all the things he's done.
no subject
[Actually this is pretty nice, he hasn't had a good hug session with someone since he came to Bastion.]
no subject
You really think so... ?
no subject
[WELL even if she does he can just carry her back so no biggie.]
no subject
[Good thing she doesn't weigh much, even if she's strong as hell.]
no subject
[It sure made him feel less anxious about the whole sensing a ton of monsters just below the surface, even if he's not going to say so.]
no subject
[Oop. Yep. Starting to fall asleep.]
no subject
Well. You'll be hearing it a lot from me, I think.
[He really believes in his friends, okay.
Oh but--]
Ah--I'm going to take you back to the inn, okay? You've had a long day.
[And he'll just lift her up and carry her back if there's no argument.]
no subject
[Rin doesn't put up any argument to being picked up. All there is, is a quiet mutter of 'thank you' as she rests her head against his chest tiredly.]
