[So hey. There's this girl. She's been in this place for a while, helped out with a lot of things, and today she got to help do something awesome! Cores are important to the Bastion after all, so that's a good thing.

Except she kind of... lit herself on fire and a lot of people saw it.

Anyone want to talk to her about that?

In all seriousness, Rin can be found after all that hubbub taking a break near the apartments, outside because she really doesn't want to be in her room right now. She's nursing a bit of a wound on her thigh from sliding on her legs under the bird earlier, but whatever road rash she got from doing so is starting to fade finally. Her sword is lying next to her in the grass, and she's just on her back, watching the odd sky above the Bastion quietly.

Mostly because her ears are still kind of ringing from what Crona did.

Ringing ears won't stop her from holding a conversation, though, if anyone cares to bother her, and she's in a decent mood given their accomplishments.]

Ahh, I wouldn't know the differences in our worlds, but it has to do with our creation. Hundreds of years ago, a Witch merged human and inanimate weapon together using a the sacrifice of another Witch's soul.

[ She recites it like she's giving a quick synopsis of a much larger lecture. ]

There are some nuances, but 'demon weapon' is an apt term for people like myself.

[amazingly, she actually did. A quick explanation like that was just what she needed for it to make sense.]

Demons in my world are just that - demons.

[ She's... not connecting those dots at all, not in relation to Rin. She's thinking of an entirely different type of concept in this case. ]

It's really like something you'd read in science fiction, parallel worlds where little things differ and change how everything else is. But, even then, people are still subject to their own nature anyway.

[There's another fidget there, and she glances around, gaze eventually falling on where Bon was some distance across the Bastion.]

Bon and I are classmates except... I'm a boy in his world. Kinda like how Maka is supposed to be a girl for your world.

That really is odd, but it's just one little genetic detail.

[ She follows Rin's gaze. ]

It has no effect on your soul, I imagine, and I don't think it should have one on your relationship in the long run.

Of course. Maka's soul is the same, so it stands to reason that yours would be as well. All of your elemental traits...

[ Marie doesn't mean to laugh, but a light giggle escapes her which she is almost immediately sure is entirely the wrong response. She quickly gets a grip on herself, coughing into her fist. ]

Everyone has a soul. Even cats have souls.

[ At least she's caught onto the sensitivity of the subject, though she doesn't agree in the least. ]

You should ask Maka if your soul has a tail. I'll bet you that it does.

[ Marie can't even begin to think that something was wrong with Rin on a spiritual level. ]

I'll put any more of those shards I get towards one thing you'd particularly like to see. That's how that works, right? But souls reflect the person, so I'm probably safe there.

[ Her voice is particularly gentle now. ]

Maka's Soul Perception is very keen, he'll see whether that tail of yours is there or not. [ A brief pause, then: ] I bet it's very cute.

[Wow her face is suddenly really red. She's... not entirely sure how to deal with this.]

[ Her smile is particularly sunny now. ] Thank you, Rin.

[ Marie requires a manual of her own to be understood sometimes. It's clear that she feels like something went quite well here, but what exactly that could be is much less obvious.

She stays quiet now, still smiling. ]
