Anya does not normally spend much time on the Skyway, but anyone might have noticed she's been going out more than usual over the past week. Sometimes alone, sometimes dragging certain Nobodies along because it is in their best interest.

The goal of all this? Safety and education. She is being awfully generous and using the resulting shards to buy a large quantity of condoms. Not just for herself, but for the Bastion's population of should-be-hormonal teenagers and the like.

If you look like you've been through puberty, Anya is liable to approach you. She's not going door-to-door or anything (she doesn't care that much), but if she sees you around the Bastion, better be prepared for a probably awkward conversation.

Well, you shouldn't feel pressured to conform. Just because they like to be dishonest about things and call it "tact" doesn't mean the rest of us have to follow suit.

Most beings that you'd classify as demons were originally from various hell dimensions, or descended from ones that were. A lot of them are considered evil because they don't have souls and enjoy preying on humans, but it's a matter of perspective, really.

Well, people call them that because some of them resemble the human idea of hell-- you know, fire and brimstone, eternal torment for sinners, that sort of thing.

But they aren't all like that.

I don't... what's a sinner?

Someone who does bad things, basically. I'm sure I qualify.

[His expression darkens for a moment.]

You don't need to be a different class of person to do that. But you don't seem like a bad person. I've met bad people before.

"Sinner" is a religious term anyway. Morality is subjective.

[amnesiadragon]

But bad people who do bad things... that's not really something that's - 'subjective' is something that is different from person to person, right?

It is subjective.

Say in order to save ten lives, you have to kill one person. No matter which choice you make, some people are going to think you're a bad person for making it. You were willing to kill someone for any reason? Terrible. You let people die because your morals prevented you from making a sacrifice? How dare you.

You might think there are scenarios where no one would disagree with you, but a lot of "bad people who do bad things" don't see it that way.

[Now he just looks distressed. His expression flattens, and he jerks his head to the side like he's been punched.]

But... they were...

[... The memory of killing those people, of losing control, is still fresh and it still hurts.]

[Anya looks at him for a moment before she thinks she's figured it out. She reaches over to pat him on the shoulder.]

There, there.

I'm sure you haven't killed as many people as I have.

... I didn't mean to. I didn't want to! I wasn't... I couldn't control it!

[Okay. "There there" didn't work. Now what?]

It sounds like you have plenty of excuses that would absolve you morally. I'm sure it's fine.

[He takes a deep breath, trying to squash down his fear.]

But maybe you should talk to a friend about it. Or a shrink. I hear that helps.

How would shrinking help?

It's a colloquialism for a psychiatrist. Literal shrinking would only help in that someone might squish you, and you'd probably be facing different problems once you were dead.
