[Day 189] OPEN
Who: Bon, Yukio, and Everyone else
Open: Open
When: Day 189
Where: one of the corners of the dragon field
What: Dumb exorcist boys got a bazooka. They're blowing stuff up. It's loud.
Format: action
Warnings: explosions
[If anyone is outside during the day today, they may see Bon and Yukio dragging a few things over to one of the open corners of the dragon field. Those things happen to be targets from the training building.
Shortly after they have finished dragging the targets to where they need them, a very distinctive sound can be heard. At first it is a loud fizzle, like a bunch of steam had been left off, but it is quickly followed by a loud, ground-shaking BOOM
Should anyone go investigate, they will find Bon holding a smoking bazooka, while both he and Yukio inspect the crater where one of the targets used to be. The boys have ear protection, thankfully, but they did not see fit to warn anyone else.
It's Bon who speaks first.]
That was bigger than I thought it would be.
[All Yukio does is facepalm and sigh.]

Yukio drops his hand and steps away from the crater, moving several feet away and bending to pick something up off the ground. He's got a large chunk of splintered wood in his hand when he turns back to Bon. A piece of their first target.]
Your aim was a little off. Most heavy weaponry isn't exactly made for perfect accuracy, but we can still improve.

Fortunately, Bon can take the criticism from Yukio, since Yukio is his teacher and is just trying to help him. So he nods in response to what Yukio says.]
The kickback surprised me, and the shot went a little high. Is there a better way to brace the barrel?

/eyebrow waggleYukio tosses the wood aside and walks back, glancing at the bazooka and nodding. It's been a while since he's needed to handle anything but his own personal weapons. His specialty has always been precision shooting, but Shiro had been pretty thorough with his training once Yukio had grown strong enough to handle it.]
Show me your stance again.

Like this?

You're a little too relaxed. When you fired, you tensed up to compensate and it changed your trajectory.

That's Rin's first thought when she feels the faint vibrations from the blast and hears the concussive noise from the kitchen, damn near dropping the pot she was holding at the time. She puts it on the counter a bit too hard and runs for the window, staring out to try and see what the source of it was.
The kitchen is a good distance from the Dragonfield, but after a bit of squinting she can see two fairly familiar figures and what looks like smoke rising from something near the ground.]
... what the hell are those two idiots doin'?
[Weird to be calling Yukio of all people an idiot, but an explosion being involved can't be something smart, right?
Huffing, she jerks off her apron, gathers up the Pokemon egg she had sitting near the brick oven for warmth, and stomps out there.]
What the fuck was tha-- ... is that a fucking bazooka?!
no subject
He looks down at the bazooka in his hands, then back up at her.]
Yeah? Okumura-sensei was teaching me how to use it.

[LOOKING AT YOU HERE YUKIO]

[Yukio reaches up to adjust his glasses, incredibly unimpressed with Rin's disapproval. Not seeing what the issue is.]
He is a dragoon in training.

They may not have guns--and certainly not bazookas--where Zuko comes from, but the Fire Nation has developed plenty of other ways to blow things up, and she knows an explosion when she hears one. It actually sounds a lot like the abilities of that Fire Nation assassin she hired.
Whatever the cause, it is not something she wants to be hearing inside the Bastion. She rushes out towards the source of the noise, but her alarm quickly turns to annoyance as she sees that it's not an attack but two of their own with some other strange-looking weapon.]
What do you two think you're doing!? You think this world needs more holes in it?
no subject
[He's pulling the earplugs out so he can talk for a minute without having Zuko's words muffled. He looks entirely unapologetic, by the way.]
Would you rather I took this thing out on the Skyway with no practice at all and just missed every time I shot it?
no subject
A weapon like this can't be used without preparation.
no subject
At least on the Skyway you'd have some chance of hitting something that isn't the rock we're living on.
And what kind of preparation doesn't involve telling people you're going to be testing some kind of... bomb-thrower?

<Warn people next time. Some of us have sensitive hearing!>
[Sorry for the sudden telepathy?]
no subject
I thought it'd be far enough away that the sound wouldn't hurt anyone.
no subject
... Is the hawk talking?

[He balances on one leg and reaches up to scratch his beak.]

[So, Yukio, Bon, have the resident mad scientist wandering out to see what you two maniacs are up to.]
no subject
That said, Bon is still raising an eyebrow when Colin approaches. He knows Colin's world has some crazy shit in it, so a bazooka shouldn't be that impressive, right?
But he'll offer Colin a wave, letting him know it's okay to approach.]
no subject
Explosives training, I take it? Or are you two just blowing off some steam?
no subject
Training. Better to do it here than to risk an accident on the Skyway.

[The voice rings out from a swirling vortex that opens behind Yukio and Bon. A tired looking teenager steps through the portal and it closes.]
You know, some of us are trying to catch a few winks. I need my nine hours of beauty sleep...
[His eyes widen when he finally sees and registers the weapon.] Is that what I think it is?
no subject
Sorry. [He pulls out his earplugs, looking vaguely apologetic.] It's a rocket launcher. Or a bazooka, if you'd prefer.
no subject
It's two in the afternoon.
[Clearly the perfect time for blowing things up.]
no subject
You guys got a rocket launcher? Cool! Can I give it a try?
