[Day 189] OPEN
Who: Bon, Yukio, and Everyone else
Open: Open
When: Day 189
Where: one of the corners of the dragon field
What: Dumb exorcist boys got a bazooka. They're blowing stuff up. It's loud.
Format: action
Warnings: explosions
[If anyone is outside during the day today, they may see Bon and Yukio dragging a few things over to one of the open corners of the dragon field. Those things happen to be targets from the training building.
Shortly after they have finished dragging the targets to where they need them, a very distinctive sound can be heard. At first it is a loud fizzle, like a bunch of steam had been left off, but it is quickly followed by a loud, ground-shaking BOOM
Should anyone go investigate, they will find Bon holding a smoking bazooka, while both he and Yukio inspect the crater where one of the targets used to be. The boys have ear protection, thankfully, but they did not see fit to warn anyone else.
It's Bon who speaks first.]
That was bigger than I thought it would be.
[All Yukio does is facepalm and sigh.]

[The monsters are too big, and too fast. With only a portion of the Bastion residents able to even take on the big ones, Bon wants to be able to do his parts too. Handguns are not effective against Gasfella.]
Standing up it is, then.

Just keep your stance as steady as you can. The recoil on this weapon should be negligible as long as you keep the barrel as steady as possible.
no subject
[This time he braces himself long before he fires, and his shot is a lot more accurate. Fewer large pieces of wood are left.]
no subject
Much better. Good job.
no subject
Thank you, Sensei.
[But now that they've got the practice taken care of, it's time for another subject to come up.]
Can I ask you something?
no subject
Of course.
no subject
Does it bother you that I'm dating Rin?
[He's watching Yukio carefully, to gauge his reaction.]
no subject
A fifteen-year-old boy who's prone to getting dragged into awkward emotional situations just as every teenager is.
BUT things are what they are, and he might as well be honest since Bon went to the trouble of asking.]
It doesn't upset me, but it's... strange.
no subject
[it was strange for Bon too, at first, but time has made it less strange. It helps that he's had a lot more time here in the Bastion to grow used to the idea of Rin as a girl, too.]
Because Rin is a girl here, and you're still imagining her as a boy?
[That was Bon's big hangup about it at first, so he's thinking it's the same for Yukio too.]
no subject
[After all, adjusting to something like that after fifteen years of the opposite takes time. He's gotten better about accepting the situation as it is, and as he spends more time with this Rin he can see that anatomy is pretty much the only difference. Things are slowly getting a little easier between the Okumuras.]
It's a bit difficult to explain to someone who doesn't have any siblings...
[Looking thoughtful, and possibly even more awkward than before.]
no subject
[So it's a sibling thing. Bon kind of gets it, he remembers how much Mamushi's siblings protested when she and Juuzo go engaged. But Yukio is right, Bon couldn't hope to understand it perfectly, not without any siblings of his own.]
Well, I was wondering, because if it bothers you I can get Rin to tone down the lovey-dovey stuff.
[When Yukio is around, of course. When he's not, it's none of his business what Rin and Bon do.]
no subject
As long as everyone practices common courtesy, I'm sure we'll manage.
[It'll still be weird, but Yukio assumes he'll get used to it in time.]
