Let the Festival Begin [Day 143 | Day 144]
Who: EVERYONE
Open: Open
When: Day 143 & 144
Where: All over the Bastion
What: The first two days of the Harvest Festival
Format Any
Warnings: None
For the past week or so, it may feel like to some that the Bastion is gearing up for something. And not anything bad, either. Something good and oh so needed. It's not just the people, the Caels and the Ura that are aware of what the coming days would mean if the world was still intact. It's like the very Bastion itself has suddenly gained new life, and there's a power over it that's greater than any person, creature or Core.
Anyone who is still awake as dawn breaks over the Bastion may find themselves inexplicably tired for no reason at all, and unable to give in to an intense need to close their eyes, just for a moment.
When everyone wakes, and I do mean everyone, the Bastion will be transformed. Decorations, lights strung across every angle, wreaths, tables with colorful cloths over them, streamers and banners and so much stuff just seemingly out of nowhere! The entire Bastion, suddenly a vibrant, beautiful place for a celebration. And not just any celebration.

[ Don't mind the knight. Duke just stops nearby, watching that chaos. ]
That's why you're betting the bull wins?
[ SPolite curiosity. Duke is from a sad, sad world without gods, okay? ]
no subject
[Zulf shakes his head somewhat, a flicker of a dry smile appearing for a second.]
The bull is in the decorations because this is Micia and Pyth's festival, however much the other Gods are part of it. I'm simply siding with him because Pyth is the God of Commotion- it will take someone very talented to stand up against him.
I suppose you don't know much about the Gods here?

[ A little bit of a sheepish smile. ]
My world didn't exactly have anything in the way of the religion beyond "Do bad things, you wind up in a bad place." There's a nameless goddess, but my twin studied her a bit and found nothing that indicated she was around more than a couple generations ago.

[ The knight indicates the chaos before them and the giant table behind with a head motion. ]
Trying strength against something meant to depict one, I can see that as a sort of honoring - showing you can give a good fight, I think - and I'll assume the provided food wasn't from our kitchens, so eating what they provide makes sense, but the gambling doesn't to me.
[ Its a waste of shards, unless the shards being "lost" go to the gods. Do the gods like shards?
Thinking on that is going to give Duke a headache, though.... ]

[Oh boy, explaining the Gods time, Zulf's reason for living.]
Micia and Pyth oversee the festival, and it is generally acknowledged as theirs, but all the Gods have their days. The first day is also for Roathus and Olak. Olak governs over gamblers and risk takers. To partake in something in which there's a risk is also to honor him.
Of course... [He sighs and purses his lips.] The Caelondians have always been more... easygoing when it comes to the role of the Gods.
[That's a polite way of saying it, right?]
no subject
[ Zulf, you don't really have to be that polite. The pursing of lips when you said that kinda hinted to the knight that.. yeah, you'd like to use stronger words. ]
You do know this means I have to ask what you would consider proper, if this is considered the Caelondian way.

Well- you must understand that the Gods are not meant to be trifled with. Certain Gods are more lenient than others, but, say, making a toy out of Pyth would be seen seen as inviting trouble into your life and household. He is the God of Commotion after all, and, well... [He gestures into the ring.] Even just his avatar is quite strong.

Making a toy out of? We're talking... figure, or plush for children to hug and maul about and drool on?
[ Vaguely incredulous is the knights tone now. ]
That makes less sense. A small figure to sit on a mantle makes more sense, like the symbols inside the shrine, that seems respectful.

A plush. A figurine is fine, as are symbols of them.

[ One hand goes up and scratches under the loose ponytail of white hair. ]
I would be surprised it there was over-exaggerations, that seems far more likely to happen with something powerful and not exactly knowable ... unless they are knowable.
[ A thin smile. ]
I'm going to put my food in my mouth if I continue, aren't I?

[ And scratching the base of the ponytail again. ]
... Everyone on two legs. A dragon is a dragon.

From a physical stand point, Ura tend to have very dark hair and extremely pale skin- I imagine I'm only darker because I've tanned a bit from living in Caelondia for a short while. We tend to live underground instead of above it. Caels are of darker skin, and they tend to have either brown or blond hair. On occasion, you might see white. My friend is a good example of white hair.
While we are the same... species, 'race' is something a bit different in this context. There's also the culture, too..

Culture makes sense. Humans are humans, but Guild and Empire are very different, in terms of how things work and attitudes.
Thanks for your time, and I hope I didn't ask anything terribly uncomfortable.
