Let the Festival Begin [Day 143 | Day 144]

For the past week or so, it may feel like to some that the Bastion is gearing up for something. And not anything bad, either. Something good and oh so needed. It's not just the people, the Caels and the Ura that are aware of what the coming days would mean if the world was still intact. It's like the very Bastion itself has suddenly gained new life, and there's a power over it that's greater than any person, creature or Core.

Anyone who is still awake as dawn breaks over the Bastion may find themselves inexplicably tired for no reason at all, and unable to give in to an intense need to close their eyes, just for a moment.

When everyone wakes, and I do mean everyone, the Bastion will be transformed. Decorations, lights strung across every angle, wreaths, tables with colorful cloths over them, streamers and banners and so much stuff just seemingly out of nowhere! The entire Bastion, suddenly a vibrant, beautiful place for a celebration. And not just any celebration.

I figured we'd just be able to turn it off and push it back to the Bastion. [ She shrugged. ] It can't be half as hard as wrangling a real bull.

[For a moment, The Kid returned her stare...without the red eyes, she almost looked like his mother, albeit much younger. Eventually though, he'd break the silence as best as he knew how.]

[ Here is one small child, quite happy with that red cloak. Then again, Anna still has her red dress, so she probably looks like little red riding hood at the moment.

Anna peeks under a bush, debating how many gears she could find if she used her marbles. Would it be more than peeking about by herself? ]

[Pyth charges again, and Saix lets go of his claymore so that he can roll to the side to avoid it. He's not worried that he's let go of it.]</small. -obvious enough!

I see. Well, if you want company, I don't have anything better to do. I've already gone up against that mechanical bull and I'm not particularly one for gamlbling.

Yeah...tends t'do that.

[He tore into a turkey leg nearest him and began to devour the unfortunate bit of bird. It tasted absolutely delicious and he almost lost himself for a few moments before he realized he was gnawing on a bone...food was going quick, but there always seemed to be more hiding behind it.]

At least 's a nice surprise this time.

[He's trapped himself in that reputation. Such tragedy.]

I hardly do as well, but this is a festival. Drinking isn't particularly unusual.

If this continues to go as well as it has been today, then we may see more nice surprises in the very near future. [He watches Kid carefully, just to make sure he doesn't choke, before picking at his own food.] The Harvest Festival typically lasts for five days, after all.

[If you counted the Day of Rest anyway. Zulf has too much of a connection to the Lorn Mother to want to keep it out.]

Yeah... Though I'm not sure exactly what we're celebrating.

[ Only being able to see red makes food look terribly boring most of the time. ]

I overheard from the natives here that it has something to do with harvest time and the Gods. Beyond that, I don't have any idea.

[He starts to look over the various different bottles that are on offer.]

For the most part, I've been managing that quite well, thanks.

[He sits down and takes a sweet roll from somewhere in the mass of food.]

Besides when I've visited the hot springs, at any rate.

I will admit crimes being committed against me did indeed never once cross my mind.

My world didn't exactly have anything in the way of the religion beyond "Do bad things, you wind up in a bad place." There's a nameless goddess, but my twin studied her a bit and found nothing that indicated she was around more than a couple generations ago.

Interesting. [He can't imagine a life without the presence of the Gods to comfort him in some strange way.] Well, the Festival is meant to honor Micia the Lorn Mother and Pyth the Wakeful Bull. They govern over the entire festival, with the other Gods attending with different ones on different days. The daytime has them and Pyth ruling. Micia's presence becomes stronger during the night.
