Day 88:: Can you hear me, I know I'm just a whisper...
Who: Everyone!
Status: Open
When: Day 88
Where: The Bastion
What: NPC and PC mingling
Format: Action
Warnings: None
[The excitement of the day before moves in to the quiet of the day after in the Bastion. It's fairly calm after all that, and the two new arrivals have been mostly healed. Current residents will find the once-armored woman bandaged still but in surprisingly good spirits, and the male with the guitar skittish and likely to jump at the smallest thing.
This would be a good point to talk to them, other NPCs or even your fellow NPCs.]

[Ippo hadn't even given it a second thought, now that he actually put some thought into it. It had just seemed...right to him, it wasn't anything he felt the need to be praised over, especially in times where life was even more valuable than ever. Ahime's words practically turned poor Ippo's face every color of red in the spectrum as he let himself be guided to a sitting place, and his waved his left hand as if trying to push the praise away]
You don't need...to thank me at all...I'm just happy it all...worked out for the best.

[says the warrior who was trying to protect
derpface mcgeea man she had just met as well.]I'm going to thank you whether you want it or not, I'm afraid.

I don't...think I'm all that brave honestly...I just...I just couldn't stand there...and let you and your friend die... Everyone's lives...are important and if...I can help preserve them in any way...then its worth a few bumps...and bruises.

[Ippo looked rather pensive as he thought on those words; he himself had been in trouble so many times in his life and had been helped by someone else. Now that he had the ability to...there was no way he could turn a blind eye to things like that any more]
I don't want to lose my life...but...if I don't do what I can...to help...then how can I possibly call myself...someone's friend?
no subject
But we do have you to thank, for still being alive.

[Ippo smiled and rubbed the back of his head with his good hand; still not ready to let himself be fully complimented. It was a group effort after all, he was just glad no one died and everyone was back safe and sound]
no subject
[Sorry, Ippo. She's insisting on it.]

[Ippo...hadn't given much thought to the merit of his strategy. He knew he could hit the thing hard enough, but he had just needed a boost getting there. Surely that wasn't that brave of a thing to do]

You think on your feet very well! You must be a great asset tot his place.

Oh hardly...I only just arrived...not too long ago myself...I owe my quick thinking...to Coach Kamogawa and everyone...who taught me how to box at my gym... I...I owe them more...than I'll ever be able to repay...but I'll make sure to honor their memories...the best I can...
[Take a good look Ahime; this is as confident and determined as you're ever going to see Ippo around here. Enjoy this brief look into the kid's head]

Box? What is that?
[It's nice to see him like that, but she doesn't know what he's talking about.]
no subject
Oh...sorry...I'll explain. Boxing is...a sport where two people...in the same weight class get...in a ring and fight hand to hand...until the end of a set number...of rounds...or until the other person is...knocked out. The oldest known form of boxing...that we know of comes from...Ancient Greece...and was known by the name...Pygmachia...which just roughly translates to...Fist Fighting. As well...the earliest record of...it being an Olympic sport...started in 668 BC.
[He's definitely smiling like a dope right now; raspy voice or not, if you give him a chance to rattle of his knowledge of boxing, its a good day for Ippo]

[she chuckles quietly, fingers to her lips]
I feel silly, asking questions like that. From what I understand though, varying time periods and worlds are common here.
