What: After returning with two new arrivals, Rin decides to break out some food and a table to mingle around so people can get to know each other. Meanwhile she's acting a little... spacier than usual.

[With two more new arrivals to the Bastion, Rin has gone to the trouble of setting up a small table just outside the Distillery kitchen, covered with a cloth and laid out with several different kinds of food.

There's not a lot of variety, since they're still running on finite resources, but there's enough there for everyone to have a good amount of food, especially since their two new survivors are probably hungry.

There's some grilled fish, steamed rice, corn and a few other vegetables and fruits, as well as some various drinks (no Spirits, though) take from the distillery itself.

Hopefully this will prompt a few people to mingle about and get to know their new neighbors.]

[The primary reason Bon doesn't freak out, or even look surprised, is that he had seen it coming a mile away. Back at True Cross, girls had confessed their feelings to him before. He's not always the best at expressing himself, but he isn't stupid.

Or maybe he is, because instead of trying to comfort Rin and make her feel better, he just gets annoyed at her. Why would she say something like that and just run off? He had meant to give her the option to flee before confessing, or to stay and talk it out.]

So you're just going to run away from it like that?

[He might also be trying to provoke her a bit, to get her angry and yelling. That is a Rin he knows better.]

[That got her to stop, at least, but she refused to turn around, hands visibly trembling at her sides.]

I just made an ass of myself, why shouldn't I run away?!

[Well she's yelling but probably not in the way Bon was hoping for.]

Because that's not the Rin I know.

[Guy or girl, they're they same personality-wise, so seeing Rin like this is almost painful. And as much as he tries to avoid starting fights with Rin, he's doing exactly that right now.]

Running away doesn't solve your problems. What if I ended up liking you too, but you never found out because you ran away instead of taking responsibility for your words?

[But she hasn't been herself lately, and while finding Yuki is to blame for some of that, her feelings for him haven't exactly helped, especially when she was trying so hard to ignore that they were there.

She doesn't turn, but she does look over her shoulder, her mess of a pony tail hiding her face slightly. She's still red, but it's starting to fade.]

I bet even he's afraid of bein' rejected. It's not the 'what if you did' it's the 'what if you didn't' that I'm afraid of. Tell me you wouldn't be scared of that, if you were in my place.

Of course I'm not scared of that crap. If you get rejected, then you get rejected. All it means is that they weren't the right person for you.

[Yeah, he doesn't get very emotional over liking people, sorry.]

Besides, if you can't take the risk of being rejected, then you don't deserve to have someone like you back.

[Well THAT finally got a reaction that wasn't just quietly muttering.

She wheeled around on him, face and ears going red again, but not from embarrassment this time.]

FINE! Then maybe I don't deserve you! Maybe I don't deserve anyone! But I said it so just fuckin' tell me what your answer is!

[Rin... that is really not how you do this sort of thing...]

Well if I didn't like you back, I'd say so! So since I'm not saying that, it should be pretty obvious that I'm okay with it!

[Which...isn't really admitting his feelings. But it's a start.]

[which wasn't a total lie, but her stomach had been doing flipflops for the past half hour, so eating might not have been the best idea]
