[OPEN!]
Who: Rin + open mingling
Open: Open
When: Day 81, late evening after Bon and Rin get back with Tris and Briar
Where: The Bastion, near the Distillery
What: After returning with two new arrivals, Rin decides to break out some food and a table to mingle around so people can get to know each other. Meanwhile she's acting a little... spacier than usual.
Format: action
Warnings: None
[With two more new arrivals to the Bastion, Rin has gone to the trouble of setting up a small table just outside the Distillery kitchen, covered with a cloth and laid out with several different kinds of food.
There's not a lot of variety, since they're still running on finite resources, but there's enough there for everyone to have a good amount of food, especially since their two new survivors are probably hungry.
There's some grilled fish, steamed rice, corn and a few other vegetables and fruits, as well as some various drinks (no Spirits, though) take from the distillery itself.
Hopefully this will prompt a few people to mingle about and get to know their new neighbors.]

[ He trailed off for a moment, watching Kaoru do Kaoru things, amused at himself for homing in on one of the few natural human survivors. Evidently his mother was right about some things. ]
As Night clasped her hands behind her back, Seimei folded his into his sleeves in front of himself.
Perhaps that is the reason for the Bastion. It is not impossible to imagine that the forces of creation were dissatisfied with the directions their children had taken, and they have chosen to start afresh. Though I suppose it would be sheer arrogance to assume one were worthy of being chosen to set the new standards.
[ Sure Seimei, why not wax poetic about the mysteries of life when you were supposed to be having snacks and getting to know neighbors? ]

She looks over at Seimei, curious.]
Maybe it's punishment, in a way. I don't know what else it would be if we didn't survive completely by random selection. [She thinks back to Monaka and her expression falters for a second.]

Insofar as punishment...No. I don't think so. Too many people here do not rationally deserve punishment. And this place has the potential to become a paradise, which no manner of Hell would.
If I had to guess, and I really despise supposition without factual evidence, I would say it was not planned or intentional or anything of the sort. It really was just a calamity. A terrible, inexplicable event that we must all work to survive, and if possible, fix.
The simplest proof being so many people coming from the same worlds, or worlds very much alike, or people coming from different times in the exact same world. Some people are arriving here that know one another, some are complete anomalies, like the blue-skinned youth with hooves.
If anything we should compare the Bastion to an island where the shipwrecked wash ashore. [ The onmyoji nodded, withdrawing his fan from his sleeve and tapping it thoughtfully against his lips. That food was becoming increasingly more enticing. ]
