When: Day 81, late evening after Bon and Rin get back with Tris and Briar

What: After returning with two new arrivals, Rin decides to break out some food and a table to mingle around so people can get to know each other. Meanwhile she's acting a little... spacier than usual.

[With two more new arrivals to the Bastion, Rin has gone to the trouble of setting up a small table just outside the Distillery kitchen, covered with a cloth and laid out with several different kinds of food.

There's not a lot of variety, since they're still running on finite resources, but there's enough there for everyone to have a good amount of food, especially since their two new survivors are probably hungry.

There's some grilled fish, steamed rice, corn and a few other vegetables and fruits, as well as some various drinks (no Spirits, though) take from the distillery itself.

Hopefully this will prompt a few people to mingle about and get to know their new neighbors.]

[ Chime lifts her head and swallows anyway. Is that the grains of rice going down her throat? Why yes it is. ]

She doesn't listen well, sadly. It will be back in a bit.

[ Guess who didn't look up from her plate? ]

[individuates]

[laughs anyway at the little dragon's blatant disregard, turning toward the speaker. Oh, hi. You're new...]

Well, she's small. She won't eat a lot anyway, right?

My name's Kaoru, by the way. Kaoru Hitachiin.

[ Very new. And a little worn looking. ]

Not a lot. And its a little helpful, sometimes.

Trisana Chandler. Tris, please.

[individuates]

[tilts his head to the side as he considers nicknames. Trisana. Tris - Tris-chan didn't have a ring to it. Miss Tris? Yikes...] Just Tris, then.

[looking back towards the little dragon] She's cute. Where did she come from? [he's quite curious about it - he's no idea what his egg will hatch into so he's hunting for possibilities] And what about you?

A glass-mage got struck by lightning. He had an accident when I wandered by, and that accident flew around and followed me home.

[ A short version. Keth had tried to smash his creation, but then again, when the glass you were blowing starts moving and flying about, you might want to smash it before it burns too much too. ]

I was supposed to be in Namorn, heading to catch up with my siblings at the border.

[ Chime has recognized she is being talked about - and more importantly praised, so she takes off again and circles Kaoru. If there's room, the dragon is going to land and inspect him more closely - and of course, gain some more praise for how pretty she is. ]

[individuates]

[with an apologetic, self-conscious chuckle] ...I understood about half of that. I've never heard of anywhere called Namorn, but then I doubt you'd know where I'm from, either. [though he does get that you're one of those magical types. There do seem to be a lot of you in this place...]

...yes, cute thing, I am talking about you. [his chuckle turns into a delighted laugh as the dragon flies around him. He reaches out to make some space, but really, land where you like!]

Then explaining will only be useful if you really want to know.

[ Tris will turn back to her food for a moment, trying not to think on what being here with Briar and only Briar meant.

Chime will land on a leg, if its available. And why yes, she is posing to better catch light through her wings. ]

[individuates]

[his knees are free, though his lap is a little taken up by the egg he's holding there. He reaches to touch her gently - that... that really is glass. That's pretty cool, but... how can she move?!]

It's kind of interesting though, that we all come from different worlds. I'd like to learn about it sometime!

[stormsinbraids]

[ Lightning and magic. Fortunately, the first isn't readily visible. And if Kaoru really wants to see the second, they can help with that. Chime gives a musical tone of a purr, turning to lean into the fingers. ]

Whenever you like, I can help with most of Emelan. If you want to know about plants, you're better asking Briar. He's the boy off...

[ A light mental touch. Oh, she should have guessed.

The dark haired boy across the food table who was running his hands over a tree glanced over his shoulder. ]

Inspecting all the trees.

[ And a second touch, but its more of a quick thought. Mentioned you, just wanted to know where you were. ]

If you know any good books, I would consider a trade that way.

[vinesinskin]

[He rolls his eyes and turns back to the trees. Where else would I be? Let me know if you want me to come over.

Maybe his gaudy hands would provide a distraction if she doesn't like the questions, or she wants something from his mage kit. His has more than power stored in it, after all. Like medicines and potions to let others see magic.

It's good to know the connection still works like ever for all she's older though.]

[individuates]

[a raised-hand wave toward Briar before he continues touching and stroking curiously... what are you, dragon? Part cat?]

...you may have to begin at the beginning, given that I have no idea what an Emelan is either. [another easy laugh] We can have lessons another time, perhaps?

I'm sorry to say I haven't come across many books at all during my time here. There may be a way to get hold of them, but I don't know it yet.

[ Chime is Chime, it is hardly her fault she knows that people want to adore her. ]

Probably. I need some time to rest, anyway.

[ She looks tired for more than 'I just got off the Skyway' reasons. ]
