[Day 229] Well some one has to stay behind [Open]
Who: Everyone who didn't go on the trip
Open: Open
When: Day 229
Where: The Bastion
What: Not everyone is going to go search for the Core. Some people have to stay behind and tend to the daily things in the Bastion, after all.
Format: Any
Warnings: n/a
[Regardless of the Bastion's current state, there are still things that need to be done from day to day. Some one has to attend to those things, and not everyone can just up and leave. Some people might not even want to leave, and there are even a select few that just can't.
So for those of you staying behind, make sure you're not strangers to your fellow survivors!]

[Thank goodness for the partition, though he audibly slaps a hand over his own eyes and drags it down his face. Nice one, Kaoru.] That is… uh. In the sense of finally stopping thinking that one relationship has to be sacrificed for the other; and to stop caring that they've… still not entirely warmed up to each other yet. And trust that he'll get there eventually.
[he heard that burble :/]
…everything all right in there?
no subject
She comes up enough to mumble:]
Yes. And I know what you meant.
no subject
[…thank goodness you got it, Rin-chan. Thank you for not teasing him :/]
no subject
Nah, he's doin' okay. Tama-chan's got that handled pretty well. I'm just feelin' like an ass for gettin' so upset...
no subject
[that kind of shows, though, that he's not quite aware of how ugly things got]
…though I am grateful. That you tried to fight my corner.
no subject
[She was friends with Seimei, too, but he was the one saying he would leave Kaoru for frankly really stupid reasons.]
... I know I ain't always the nicest person around and I probably said some things I shouldn't have to him but I just didn't wanna see him make a really dumb decision that was gonna hurt you.
no subject
…I just don't think you were ever going to be able to talk him through He needed someone to, certainly, but it was probably only ever going to be me or Hikaru who would manage it. And even then… [a slight shudder, not that Rin can see it. Thank goodness they didn't have to see that particular scenario go down] Even then, it would have to be Hikaru on a very good day. Even I know he can be kinda... volatile. He might not have fared much better...
[He never kept anything from his brother but he had certainly… edited his account of events a little, when they had talked about it later. The relationship between Hikaru and Seimei was getting better, albeit gradually, but it didn't need any other cause for tension. Besides, everything had cleared up and they were back on solid ground. Figuratively, if not literally. The residual shock from a few days ago was still keeping him awake at night]
no subject
[Even if she had gotten emotional and upset with him and the end result had been the two of them stomping out of the lobby, irritated at one another for different reasons.]
no subject
[though there is a slight, uncomfortable pause, before he asks]
…there was something I wanted to ask you, actually. If you don't mind? I only ask now because I'd be embarrassed to bring it up under other circumstances...
And it's just us here, right? Nobody on the other side there with you?
no subject
[And he is one of the few people left from her early days here. She's grateful that they've managed to maintain their friendship this long.]
... yeah. 'course. Just us and the Pokemon and Tama-chan.
no subject
So, uh… [and that sure is an uncomfortable clearing of the throat there…] …if you don't have any experience with this kind of thing it's quite okay but…
Do half-demons usually grow extra appendages after, uh...
[come on, Kaoru. You can ask the question. Be a man]
Relations?
no subject
[WELL this... turned interesting.
Rin lets out a cough, but no words come out for a good minute.
How the hell is she supposed to respond to that?!]
Iiiii... can't... say it happened to me but uh... I don't know that much about other demons.
no subject
Well. I guess in some ways that's good to know. And yet not helpful at all. I'm just as foxed as Seimei is, at this point.
[realises what he's said and quietly presses his face into his knees. Wow. Good one, Kao-chan…]
no subject
Fo--
[Snort.
And now she's laughing.
Really hard.]
I-I'm sorry--!
no subject
Yes. Yes. Now literally as well as figuratively.
no subject
Heehee... you walked right in to that one...
B-but. Seriously. Every demon is different so... I'unno. If it worries you maybe you should ask him about it?
no subject
I'm not so much worried, I just wondered if it was normal, is all. But at least the fluffy ears and the tail look cute on him, even if he insists on hiding them.
no subject
[Oh no, that is cute!]
My tail is already out, and I don't think I'm gonna get any other uh... parts any time soon. Seimei-san and I are two very different demons, though.
no subject
They make him a little more readable, which is always a plus. [he should enjoy it while he can; before Seimei figures out how to keep the new appendages in check. It's kind of adorable, when his tail flicks, or his ears swivel about like little radar dishes. And it gives Kaoru an excuse to rearrange Seimei's hair when it shifts along with them]
Who knows how it works? It might work differently on different people.
Though… was it hard? Having to hide it all the time? [He is grateful that Seimei didn't have to deal with this until now - he can't imagine how much trouble it might have caused]
no subject
[Oops did she say that out loud?
cough.]
It was, yeah... I had to wrap it around my stomach and hide it under my shirt. It was uncomfortable as fuck, especially right after it came in. My lower back hurt for a good week afterwards.
no subject
[fear not, Rin, you have an ally here in vehement agreement]
Seimei will be Seimei and try to hide them, but I'm glad that at least he doesn't have to.
…I will keep an eye out for lower back pain, though.
no subject
Yeah. It's a lot easier to be ourselves here.
If it starts botherin' him just but somethin' hot on his back and give him some pain pills. It didn't last too long with me.
no subject
I'm glad that in this place, nobody really needs to hide anything. If anything good came out of the end of the world, I guess there's that.
no subject
[Not that he'd ever admit it aloud.]
Mn. Yeah. I'm still kinda upset that I never really got to prove to the Order that I wasn't gonna turn out to be like my dad, though...
no subject
…perhaps you'll get a chance somehow. Someday. You never know who's going to land on their ass out there next.
