In the time between morning and noon, Paarthurnax settles down by the river of Dragonfield where the usual stone tablet depicting all the letters of dovahzul is. It's a recognizable landmark, after all... Although he won't turn away new faces.

During the afternoon, anyone venturing nearby will be called to by the old dragon. Investigate?

[Paarthurnax listens diligently before he gives a nod. He begins to shuffle... and his claw begins to drag right through the stone like it's dirt. It's a loud and grating noise- Paarthurnax tries to make it quick.]

Ah... That would explain some matters.

[Neither of them seem to mind - they've heard worse.]

Sometimes, I have felt slight uneasiness by being near her. It has never been enough to truly bother me, however.

[gianthobo]

Ah.

[Floette frowns. She doesn't want to hurt you! In fact, she hugs the side of his snout gently before backing off.]

[He leans into the hug as best he can. Which is hard! But he tries.]

As I said- it has not been enough to truly bother me. More curious than anything.

Torkoal's body remains hot at all times, and many of his attacks rely on using his mass against an opponent. Stone Edge slams rocks into an opponent, Lava Plume spews incredibly hot magma, Body Slam has him simply use his own bulk to inflict damage, and Return... is a curious move, but draws on the power of bonds between a trainer and their Pokemon to inflict damage.

He's also the youngest of my Pokemon aside from Eevee.

How interesting, to hear bonds can do such a thing.

Bonds are... mm. I'm starting to re-learn the importance of them, but in my world it seems that... trainers who do not form bonds with their Pokemon - positive bonds - never reach the same kind of skill and understanding with their team that make certain trainers incredibly powerful.

It's not something that can be measured, only felt. In fact, there is a temporary type of evolution that relies on both trainer and Pokemon being incredibly close. I don't have access to that sort of power. Calem does, however.

It sounds fascinating. The relations between others could do fascinating things back in my land, but nothing like that.

It's difficult to find someone who is a good example of it, but there are some. It's... fascinating to watch, but difficult to understand.

But we both have plenty of time to see, don't we?

We do.

... Golurk has immense strength, fueled by a strange energy. Phantom Force is a Ghost-type move that slams energy against a foe, and Mega Punch is much like it sounds like, as is Heavy Slam. He also can use Return.

Meanwhile Sigilyph can use Return, as well as Air Slash which cuts with air, and Psychic which attacks a foe with mental energy. Cosmic Power boosts his defensive power. It's more useful than some people realize.

I have not seen a battle taken place in the Bastion that seems custom to your world.

No, not really. We don't really have much of a reason to battle.

What reason did you do so there?

[gianthobo]

Many people did what some called the 'gym challenge' - battle trainers authorized to give out certain badges that signified achievement. Many of them specialized in a single type, and there was a final challenge once all eight gym leaders in a region were defeated. Each region has an 'Elite Four' and a 'Champion' who are considered the strongest trainers in the region. These trainers usually make most of their money off of challenges, because it's customary and expected to give the winner a monetary prize.

Others do it simply in order to strengthen their Pokemon - not out of a need to challenge people, but simply because they're friends and companions and need exercise just as much as humans do. Still others do it in order to teach their Pokemon as many moves as they can in order to breed them with others to create strong Pokemon, either for themselves or for others. A few do it out of a need for survival, usually to fend off wild Pokemon.

I see.

There are many here who have taken in Pokemon who do not seem to know about such practices.

[gianthobo]

It's different here. There's no organized system. But the Pokemon here... most of them were born here, and this is what's normal for them. So it's all right.

I see. So they will have to adapt to this world and its order. With all that has happened, they still may have to learn to battle.

[gianthobo]

We can teach them, if they want. It's a matter of getting the word out.

I imagine it is merely a manner of time. They are becoming more and more commong as time passes on.

[gianthobo]

True. I'd put up a sign, but I don't know that everyone would be able to read it, even if I wrote it in your language.

In my experience, pictures often suffice as something that does not necessarily require knowing language.

True. I'll work on some signs. It might take me a bit to draw them out.
