[Day 205] It's the end of the world, get drunk

Who: Georges and anyone about
Open: Open
When: 205 sometime in the afternoon
Where: Around the Monument
What: The Cael way of celebrating everyone not dying involves booze, so drink up! (Fun fact: the Cael way of mourning may also involve booze.)
Format: Any
Warnings: Drunken shenanigans, likely. Also feel free to treat this like a mingle thread and not just talking to Georges! (Although he'll try to chat with everyone if he can)

So, just to double check: A cure has been found? Everyone's recovered? No one's dead? It's safe to leave the house now? Excellent.

With this fact well known, one can find Georges starting off his morning not hanging about the bar (as is his custom as the only bartender in the Bastion) but in fact setting up something in front of the Monument. Tables, chairs, some blankets to sit on when those inevitably run out... There's also something of a makeshift bar area, a variety of liquor in fascinating bottles set up along with some glasses.

Everything is all finished up around the afternoon, and Georges goes behind his little makeshift table-bar to cup his hands around his mouth so he can yell-

"DRINKS ON THE HOUSE!"

...What do you mean he technically never makes anyone pay for booze at the end of the world? Just come up and have a drink, Georges will be happy to recommend something. Or maybe bother someone else having a drink?

[AZ will happily wander over to the 'bar'.]

... I take it you're in good spirits.

[Hooray terrible puns.]
gianthobo: (revolutionaries wait)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. But sure, why not? And you're right, it's a good reason to celebrate.

[He grins a little at the last comment, though.]

If only because there's more of me to hold it.
gianthobo: (feel the fear in my enemy's eyes)

[personal profile] gianthobo 2014-07-05 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not really familiar, though I usually go for the strong stuff.
gianthobo: (for my head on a silver plate)

There's smelling salts we use at home but I can think of a few drinks that would work, too.

[... Let's see. He takes a drink, and his eyes widen. His poker face is admirable, but when he lowers the glass he coughs a bit.]

I can see why.

[And he thought Pokemerica Unova's alcohol was weird.]

Don't tell Zulf that, though. I think the Rattle-tails like him.

[Oh look it's someone new. Rob's left his coat and backpack behind in an attempt to not sweat so much and has forced himself to come to this little event in an attempt to be social with his new neighbors. Considering his only previous experience with going to a bar was less than enjoyable it wasn't easy for him to come at all, but he's here now and wondering how long it'll be before he regrets coming.

For Georges:

Rob walks up to the "bar", takes one look at the actually really interesting bottles that back home he would probably collect the empties of and display but here knows that they'll need to be reused, realizes he has even less idea what any of them are than he would in a bar back home, and decides to ask the bartender. When he does speak... his voice is low and kind of hard to hear, regardless of how much background noise there is.]

Hey, um, are any of those sake, mead, or vodka?

[For everyone else:

New guy. At the farthest table. Watching the goings-on and taking occasional sips from a glass. Alone. Go say hi.]
coolerthansora: (guess so)

[Roxas looks like someone who's just on the other side of an illness, possibly more than some of the others, still a little pale and tired. His mood hasn't been helping his recovery any, which is part of why he's here. He wouldn't be old enough to drink in a lot of places, but he's tried it before and he remembers it made thinking somewhat difficult. That sounds like a good idea right now.

The farthest table also seems like a good plan. He nods at the stranger as he sits down with a glass of Bull Brandy, but doesn't say anything just yet.]

[Someone sat down next to him. Someone sat down next to him.

Rob tenses slightly. He hadn't been prepared for someone to just sit down here; there are plenty of other tables free that're closer to the bar. He came here to try and be social, yes, but starting conversations with random people is hard.

He sips his Mender Mead, a part of his mind wishing that he could be the kind of drunk that became extremely self-confident. Instead, alcohol's usual effect on him was to amplify whatever emotions he was feeling at the time. In this case, it's nervousness and anxiety. He'll just sit here quietly like a man waiting for his execution.]

[Rob furrows his brow as Georges speaks. The last part of his description makes it sound like...]

Is it magic?

[His volume's slightly higher, but still on the quiet side.]
coolerthansora: (isn't this what friends do?)

[personal profile] coolerthansora 2014-07-06 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Roxas is not the most observant, especially not right now, but he still manages to pick up on that.]

Um... Is it okay for me to sit here?

[Maybe he should have asked first.]
windgod: (Keep looking forward)

Open to All!

[From the entrance of the Bastion could be seen a lone figure approaching; considering the familiar nature of the hooded cloak, one might mistake it for Gasfella that had wandered a little too close to home, but closer inspection would find the individual to be distinctly more...human. A pair of metallic gauntlets attached to the person's hand might give his identity away to those who knew him, but now that he was home, he pushed the hood back and smiled as he took in a deep breath of that fresh Bastion air.

Ippo had left without a word nearly two weeks ago after his chat with Zuko. He was uncentered, unfocused, and at best a danger to others as well as himself. He had needed to isolate himself, to properly contemplate himself and his place at the Bastion; as well as to further hone his skills against the beasts of the wilds, and it showed on his person.

He was fortunate enough to have found a discarded gasfella cloak on the ground during his travels, and with his shirt having been utterly destroyed, he had opted to wear it and found that it was large enough to keep him warm. It did leave his shoulders and arms exposed, showing that he had three jagged scars running from the top of his right shoulder and down behind the cloak, possibly stopping at his chest; even under his left eye could be seen a rather straight looking scar that stopped just short of his ear. His hair looked even longer now, painting a messy picture that almost completely covered his eyes, and over all he just seemed...bigger, his muscles compact, but now bulging against his skin without any help from him whatsoever.

Much to his surprise, there seemed to be a festival going on...or at least there was a party of some sort. The boxer walked up to the makeshift bar that Georges had set up and gave a wave to the friendly bartender, taking the nearest seat that was available with an exhausted sigh.
]

I think...I'll have a Hearty Punch, if we still have some of that left.

[After all those cold nights out in the bushes...he could use something that would warm him up.]

Apart from that though...what's got everyone so festive? Did I miss something?
gianthobo: (revolutionaries wait)

[personal profile] gianthobo 2014-07-06 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe. I can't claim to speak for him.
dragonsorcsandwolves: (Default)

[personal profile] dragonsorcsandwolves 2014-07-06 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
[He probably should've, but Rob's going to try and be polite.]

Yeah.

[His voice is low and a little hard to make out. He manages to not look quite so tense but can't get rid of it all. But a conversation has been started, so now all he has to do is continue it, right?

...How does he small talk?]

So, uh, what're you drinking?
dragonsorcsandwolves: (Default)

[personal profile] dragonsorcsandwolves 2014-07-06 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
I know alcohol can be useful, but not most of the ones you can drink. 'Cept brandy.

[He takes a sip from the glass.]

Different than the mead I've had before. Then again I've only ever had one brand, so maybe there's something like this back home.
coolerthansora: (simple tragedies)

[personal profile] coolerthansora 2014-07-06 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. It's, um, Bull Brandy. It's the only kind I've had before.

[The one time that he ever drank.]

Some stuff just doesn't taste that good.
dragonsorcsandwolves: (Default)

[personal profile] dragonsorcsandwolves 2014-07-06 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I've had that before. Brandy, not Bull Brandy. It's kind of interesting once it goes down. Can see how'd clear your head. I don't really like most alcohols that much, but this is one I'm okay with. "Mender Mead", he called it.
