[Days 197 → 200] Goodnight song, played so wrong... [OPEN]
Who: Quarantined survivors who came back from the Radio Tower mission, anyone who wants to risk visiting them.
Open: Open
When: Day 197 → Day 200
Where: The Hospital, in the wing that Colin sectioned off
What: So that Radio Tower mission didn't exactly go according to plan, did it? Despite Rin's efforts to cleanse everyone with her flames, Colin has insisted on Quarantine and has shoved everyone involved in to the hospital to wait it out and hope that no symptoms show up. Boredom, Pokemon egg hatching and other such shenanigans ensue.
Format: any
Warnings: The designated Patient Zeros are involved in this, and will beginning showing symptoms starting Day 200, kicking off the second part of the Sickness Within plot.
[Basically what it says at the top. Individual threads for the different days are set up below, so thread around as you see fit!]
NOTE: This comment has information about the disease that can be used during this event.

Day 197
[He'd also made a diversion to the monument in order to buy something that would let him move with less worry. It just had the unfortunate side effect of making him look like a space-man.]
[So here he is, wearing a white suit and helmet with red trim, standing inside the quarantine zone with a small stack of assorted items that everyone there might need for their stay.]
I just need a few minutes of everyone's time, and then we can go about our business. I'm sure after all that operation, we all want to get some rest.
I've picked up a couple of pads from my workshop, they have access to my entire library on them. There are books, movies, games, and music available to us on them. Most of you don't know what movies are, that's fine, I'll be happy to show you. Suffice it to say, we should be able to keep entertained with them. Unfortunately, there's only two of them, so we're going to have to share them.
We're going to be shut in here for the incubation period of the disease. If that expires and none of us get sick, we'll be able to leave then. So basically, just get some rest, and keep entertained. Keeping our morale up will help the time fly by.
If you've got any questions, I'll be happy to try and answer them.

Of course she's also cranky and can barely stand on her own and just wants to fucking sleep. At this point some one is probably going to have to give her a sedative to get her to, though, because as exhausted as she is she's too stubborn to admit that's what she needs right now.]
How long is that gonna be... ?
[She's leaving the kitchen in the care of others, which doesn't worry her too much. But this is still putting a lot of things on hold for her.]

Day 198
Closed → Yukio and Bon
Once they had her in the hospital, she had almost immediately fallen asleep, though if it was by sedative or sheer exhaustion was almost impossible to tell. And she stayed that way for almost a full 24 hours (making up for the day she didn't sleep on top of everything else) until something near by her shook and trembled, rousing her out of her groggy sleep.
Her head was pounding, her eyes hurt and she felt almost painfully overheated, and whatever was shaking next to her was only serving to irritate her right then.
She groaned at the bright white light above her head, vaguely recalling how she had woken up after the incident on the mountain. She almost wanted to laugh. Twice now she had to cleanse away something that could kill people with the very flames that had done just that the night of her birth. Twice now she had collapsed under the weight of her own power and strained control. Twice now she had woken up in a place she wasn't familiar with after the fact.
She half expected to turn and see Shiemi sleeping next to her, but it was a different face that greeted her.]
Ryuuji... ?

He had actually been there since last night, but she hadn't shown any signs of waking, so he had decided to stay there until she woke up. Obviously he wouldn't be able to stay all the time, since he hadn't been on the trip, he had to make sure he didn't catch anything from them. But he wanted to be there when she woke up. He had to be.
And as soon as Rin spoke, Bon woke up with a start, sitting up suddenly.]
I'm awake.
[Nope he hadn't been dozing off not him.]

help how be very best there ever was
[However, one in particular had managed to hatch perhaps a bit earlier than some of its peers and- miracles of miracles- escape the many watchful eyes of the latest daycare caregivers. It's had quite an adventure waddling throughout the Bastion looking for something. Eventually, however, it found itself somehow in the middle of a hospital hallway....]
[And threw its head back to start wailing.]
[Because
the munfate apparently likes to torment him, Zulf is the first one on the scene. Anyone else coming to investigate will find him holding an itty bitty Cubone up with a look of alarmed bewilderment and surrounded by about five white feathered birds with strange tails the size of dogs. One in particular is trying to clamber up Zulf's leg (with no success) because what iiiis it?][Zulf has no idea himself. But he can be heard saying something.]
Why is it wearing a skull on its head?
no subject
The loud banshee wailing catches her off guard and she stops—Zulf? Not Zulf—and, debating whether or not to investigate, she doesn't move until she hears Zulf's voice.
She hustles down the hall and rounds the corner, and wow, that sure is a lot of animals—wow, why does it have a skull on its head?]
You're awfully popular today! Why is it crying? What did you do? [With a giggle, she skips over and tentatively holds a hand out towards the Cubone—can she...pet its skull? Probably not? Okay, wait, what does she do.]

usually, in a sane worldblue? Why are there no mountains? Why is there a red-headed twin in a garish mockery of a Spiderman costume appearing at one of the windows looking into the hallway, with a grappling hook in his hand? He was going to pretend to have climbed up to the window, but that plan flew out the window the moment the intense wailing started.Being audible through the windows, Hikaru can't help but wince in pity for the poor person stuck inside with it. That thing must be really loud, and...]
Is that a skull on its head?!
[He doesn't expect his voice to be heard through all that, but maybe knocking on the window will get him some attention. He wants a closer look at that thing, and the weird birds as well.]

Later in the afternoon - Open!
She was up and about, though, because boy that Tepig sure had a lot of energy.
Through most of the afternoon up until evening whenever food finally comes around, Rin can be found with said excitable Tepig in the halls of the quarantine area, running about and playing with him.

Well, grappling hooks are totally what they are. Coming up them are the two most ridiculous twins in the Bastion, dressed in gaudy - but well-stitched - costumes reminiscent of especially confused and flamboyant spiders. 'Uki Doki Manspider' is carefully sewn across the left breast of each outfit, and hell yeah you can bet these two have been bored out of their minds
and more than a little worriedfor the last couple of days.Hikaru's head is the first to pop up in front of the window, and he lets out a cheer of success at seeing Rin inside. She wasn't their intended target, but, well. She's a good person to see anyway! And is that a pig with her? Man, why does quarantine look like so much more fun than being out here?]

Seimei get in here!
He anchors himself carefully, pulls out a pack of chalk markers and starts doodling a rather cutesy landscape on the window - the kind that has big puffy clouds and a sun with a smily face and a rainbow and lots of flowers. And a couple of pink circles for cheeks, and sparkles, and cat ears, strategically placed to make it look like they're on him.
In case the slight squeaking of his markers hasn't drawn Seimei's attention, he taps on the window lightly. Look up, Seimei. Look what your silly Hitachiin has gone and done.]

Day 199

Throughout the day - Open
In all seriousness, the second day here is... pretty boring. There's so little for Rin to do, and she's not allowed anywhere near a kitchen until they get cleared.
Anyone wandering about will likely find Rin either sleeping in bed or a chair with her recently hatched Tepig, reading off one of the data pads, or...
hanging upside down on one of those chairs groaning about how much this sucks with said Tepig apparently deciding it's a good idea to chew on momma's hair.]

He skips breakfast.
He skips lunch.
Dinner is coming around before too long and Seimei hasn't bothered to come sweeping imperiously through the halls to grumble about the nerve of some people not serving sake with a meal just because he might be sick.
In fact Seimei hasn't bothered moving from bed today. He's huddled under a blanket - or three that he might have sniped - and curled in the fetal position because guess what: he's never been sick before. And guess who's a big fat baby? This guy. Clearly he's dying over a little fever and cough.
Oh wait. ]

[But he's not sick. Those who had to deal with him around Raile's injury and Night's funeral will recall that his methods of coping aren't exactly the best.]
[However, in the enclosed space of the hospital wing, he can't exert his avoidance tendencies to their fullest, so he's really rather easily found. Anyone who needs him can find him seated in one of the halls with a photo ablum in his lap. He's a bit lost in thought staring at one of the first pages.]
[Feel free to interrupt him, or even just pass by. Either one will earn a worried stare, brows drawn together and lips drawn thin.]

OOC note
This is how the disease progresses:
Days 1-4: There are no symptoms present.
Day 5: The infected starts to carry a fever of roughly 100 degrees Fahrenheit/ 37.7 degrees Celsius. Despite running a fever, they will feel chilly, have a constant cough, and be very tired. They will also suffer from a loss of appetite.
Day 6: The fever increases to 102 Fahrenheit/38.8 Celsius. Along with the chills and loss of appetite, they will be extremely lethargic, and unable to get out of bed or move around much.
Day 7: The fever stays steady at 102/38.8, and the symptoms persist. By the end of the day, either the person will be dead, or the fever will break.
Days 8-10: If the person survives, their fever will gradually go back down to normal. Appetite and strength will gradually return, and they will start to sleep less. By day 10, the person will be back to how they were before being infected.
Day 200 is the day that symptoms will start showing up for Patient Zeroes, and anyone infected after that can start showing symptoms on Day 201 or after.
As for how to get your characters infected, you have a few choices. The first one is obvious: if your character was in the first log post, or went to the hospital at any time during the quarantine, they will have come in contact with the disease. Besides that, here are a few others ways for your characters to get sick:
- Coming in contact with anyone who went on the trip/visited the hospital (currently Colin, Bon, Zahi, and a few others are coming and going from the hospital, so there's a few choices there for people to come across)
- Coming in contact with anything that has been in the hospital, such as linens, clothes, and dirty dishes.
- visiting shared spaces in the Bastion, like the Distillery, the monument, the general areas of the apartment buildings, and so forth.
- Generally just being anywhere near the hospital, since the disease is an airborne one.
The next post (for finding the cure) will be going up within the next couple days, so be sure to keep an eye out for it!
