I-I can't--... that smell--!
no subject
[But he stays by her, not caring about the smell of vomit or anything else. His hand keeps rubbing at her back.]
Do you think putting the handkerchief over your nose will help?
no subject
[She nods, fumbling around until she can find it again, shaking hands trying to tie the knot underneath her pigtails again.]
no subject
[After a moment of watching her fumble, he moves in to do it himself. The smell is still there for him, he knows it, there's no escaping it, but it feels... not there at the same time. Maybe that's why he's so calm right now.]
It might only get worse from here on out.
no subject
She shakes her head, though. If nothing else there really is very little left in her stomach to get rid of.]
No... but--... d-don't split up, right... ?
no subject
[There's a painful ping in his chest before he takes another breath.]
Stay close, alright?
no subject
I will.

[The sooner they get through these rooms the better.
Besides, Nathaniel should be bursting in at any moment to yell at them once Yuki has successful ratted them out for being foolish.]
no subject
[With that, he heads back into the room, glancing back at her just to make sure she's doing alright.]
It looks like this was converted to a sleeping area...

They found shelter and used what they could I guess... I wonder if any of 'em ever even got that tower workin'.
no subject
We'd have to ask Colin or Nathaniel on the state the tower is in... I didn't read anything in the letters that made mention of it. They were mostly farewell letters, like I said.
Do you think it would have done them any good if it did?
no subject
[But that's a thin, useless hope for a group of people who have already perished.]
I'unno...
no subject
Just let me know if you start to feel sick again, okay?
no subject
Slowly. And not without a little bit of reluctance to believe it.]
I will...
no subject
[Aaaand time for another search check!]
no subject
[She has to ask.]
no subject
But- as long as it doesn't spread, I think I'll manage.
no subject
[Damn it, Zulf.]

[The same as what happened to his parents, to his people.]

However, you must understand something- things like this weren't an uncommon sight in the Terminals during the plague. Perhaps not always in such number like this... But I can't count the number of times I'd make my way into an abandoned den hoping for a bit of food or a blanket only to find an entire family dead.
That was "normal" and you got used to it after a while until it became strange when the temple finally got it under control and were able to start clearing out the bodies of the dead.
I suppose it's easier to slip into old habits than I thought.
[The entire time he talks, his shoulders are a bit slumped and he keeps his face away from Rin. There's a kind of dullness to his tone.]
no subject
That ain't gonna happen again.
