[Day 196 and 197] Seconds march into the past [OPEN
Who: Everyone!
Open: Open
When: Days 196 and 197
Where: Skyway
What: The last locations have arrived
Format: Any
Warnings: N/A
[Call it a strange sort of intuition, but when more locations were found out on the Skyway, Zayna couldn't help but feel like that was the end of it. Maybe not for good, but it just seemed sort of... final, the way things were arriving.
She didn't really speak this thought aloud to anyone but Zulf and her father, showing the new sketches to the residents of the Bastion once more without too much insight in to what was on her mind.]

But aside from an apologetic glance before he knelt he didn't let it show. The biwa was set to one side carefully and the bones gathered into his arms, taking great pains not to drop any as he stood to follow.
"Outside?"
no subject
"It was a pleasure meeting you, child. And good to see Seimei. I wish you both the very best in your future. Your compassion will not be forgotten," he murmured, closing his eyes and seeming to evaporate from the feet up until just the skull hovered there. The shikigami inside abandoned the bones and drifted off, presumably returning to Seimei. Without the magic possessing it, the skull dropped unceremoniously to the ground, clattering against the other bones.
Seimei had exited the cave as well, following quietly at a polite distance, a bag of things recovered held at his side. He said nothing, only watching as Kaoru did whatever he intended, waiting patiently to be needed or wanted.

Further promises to protect Izumo's legacy were pointless, now. It was Kaoru's actions that mattered.
He knelt, extracting the bones bit by bit and laying them on the ground, before picking up the skull and setting it on top of them before pressing his palms together like he had inside the temple. Rising to his feet and turning, he realised Seimei was behind, and closed the distance with a small smile.
"...the biwa. I should take the biwa."
He hadn't the faintest idea how to play the instrument but it wouldn't do to abandon the instrument completely.

Likely he would be reliant on the boy, as ever, for guidance with things he couldn't seem to fathom.
"I have everything I can carry right now. If you are done, we can return home and I can make arrangements to recover as much as possible.

The accumulation of Skyway odds and ends in their home had multiplied greatly recently, what with all the things they had hauled back from the Host Club, and now from Izumo. He hoped they would always have room for them, given the rate at which their household was growing, too.
"Mm. I'm ready to go, too." He slid his arm through Seimei's, the biwa held carefully by the neck in his other hand, "What did you find?"
no subject
"A few pieces of jewelry relevant to our history, kept secret from the people. Scrolls, books. Paintings. Art and history. Things that might matter to no one or may matter to everyone. It depends entirely on perspective and a desire to learn. There is a wealth of knowledge contained here regarding the art I practice. People may learn from these. I suspect Rin, Bon and Yukio in particular may like to have original copies of the first scriptures of Onmyodo. Aside from that, the rest may seem like no more than fables, but I am pleased to have it, nevertheless."
no subject
"…are you ready to go home now? You're sure there's nothing I can take?"
no subject
"Would you perhaps wear this for me, sometime, with traditional clothing?" he asked, arching a brow and holding the necklace of tiny glass beads and a solo magatama stone. "It belonged, once, to the goddess Amaterasu. I think it suits you."
no subject
He blinked at the proffered necklace, a little startled. The beads Genkaku had offered were one thing, even though Kaoru had had his misgivings.
"O-of course, but…"
But… would it really be all right for him to wear something that had once belonged to a god?
no subject
"But?" Seimei questioned, distracted by the tone. Ah. He smiled, shaking his head slowly. "She would have liked you, and you would have liked her. I doubt she would mind at all, dear prince. At any rate, she wore is when she was mortal. You would not be wearing something divine itself...only touched by the divine and thereby a precious relic."
no subject
He would hate for Seimei to find his own home that way.
And there Seimei went, showing off his mind-reading skills again. At least, Kaoru attributed it to mind-reading. He refused to believe he was that transparent.
He accepted the necklace quietly, carefully, with a nod, a small smile, and no more excuses.
no subject
"A little divinity for my prince could go a long way. Who knows."
no subject
"Oh, I see, I see. I'm not divine enough for you?" Tugging on his sleeve teasingly so Seimei knew he knew it wasn't what he'd meant at all. "I get it now. You think I need all the help I can get, is that what you mean~?"
no subject
"You are, at the end of the day, a mortal boy," he replied with a gentle sort of gravity. "If I could find a way for you to be more like me, I would use any means possible to achieve it."
no subject
"You'd have to be very careful with that. It's a lovely idea, but there's a lot of myths around the world where that doesn't end so well…"
no subject
"But you are quite right, and I have worked no magic upon you in my selfishness. The necklace is a matter of faith and heart - a charm against ill-spirits, more than anything else. I do not imagine it will extend your life unnaturally. Besides, if I wanted to do that, its a rather simple thing."
He tilted his head, arching a brow at the boy curiously before shaking his head. There were things he wanted out of life, but his desires were irrelevant when another opinion would be tacked to them. He could not think solely about himself.
"Someday you may wish it of me, and if you do, I will attend the matter. For now, you are young and we are happy without those concerns."
no subject
"...maybe one day," he conceded, "But I'm happy with you and me, just as we are right now. Immortality doesn't have to come into it right now, surely..."
no subject
"Should I be composing poetry for you on the way home? You know it is not a particularly strong skill of mine. I would rather you not grow ill."
no subject
"You're more than proficient with your poetry, my love, trust me. I would be happy for you to surprise me sometime."
no subject
"Someday perhaps you'll be more inclined to go out, but for now, I must admit, I'm very content not to have to go chasing you both about. However, if you think she could use the chance to her advantage, I wouldn't mind taking her with me when I go out. Yata-chan and Tama-chan could work quite well together, given the opportunity to learn."
no subject
"Well. Perhaps one day." Shaking his head lightly, "...and I would love to see how that combination would go down..." Theoretically it was a good one - what Tama-chan couldn't reach from the ground, Yata-chan could reach from the air. But putting them together? Sometimes it felt like the only reason Yata-chan put up with Tama-chan was because he could always fly away from her.
"Tama-chan is always willing to work with others - and you know she adores you, she'd follow you anywhere - but... you know how Yatchan is."
no subject
"But come. The journey is not overlong, but we should get there at a reasonable hour. As much I would love to spend time alone with you, a graveyard is hardly romantic. Perhaps we will have an unlikely stroke of luck and the house will be vacant enough that we can have some time together. A leisurely bath sounds nice."
no subject
"Yes. Home." Even without luck they had locks on doors if they needed... A lightly impatient tug on Seimei's hand. Yes, everything his onmyoji had proposed was rather wonderful.
