[Call it a strange sort of intuition, but when more locations were found out on the Skyway, Zayna couldn't help but feel like that was the end of it. Maybe not for good, but it just seemed sort of... final, the way things were arriving.

She didn't really speak this thought aloud to anyone but Zulf and her father, showing the new sketches to the residents of the Bastion once more without too much insight in to what was on her mind.]

"Maybe so, but that doesn't mean the sun doesn't like to hear it every now and then..." A wink and a smile. All right, so perhaps Kaoru enjoyed having his ego stroked every now and again. He couldn't help it. Who didn't enjoy being flattered from time to time?

"...maybe one day," he conceded, "But I'm happy with you and me, just as we are right now. Immortality doesn't have to come into it right now, surely..."

"I do not imagine so, no. The dangers of the Skyway are fewer every day, and you do not particularly care for venturing out needlessly so you are not at risk. I would say immortality and eternal youth are hardly concerns of yours," the onmyoji remarked with a shrug and smile, watching the boy thoughtfully.

"Should I be composing poetry for you on the way home? You know it is not a particularly strong skill of mine. I would rather you not grow ill."

"This is about as far as I dare go, even accompanied." He agreed with a nod. "Tama-chan's getting stronger and stronger, and she's tough and all, but I'm still reluctant to stray far with her. Even though she wants to go. The creatures close to home don't often present much of a challenge for her, these days. But if we went further out and she got hurt..." A shake of his head. No, that didn't bear thinking about. "...I just wouldn't want it to be somewhere we couldn't quickly get back from."

"You're more than proficient with your poetry, my love, trust me. I would be happy for you to surprise me sometime."

"Perhaps I will then," he mused, arching a brow and pursing his lips briefly, kissing the air between the two of them.

"Someday perhaps you'll be more inclined to go out, but for now, I must admit, I'm very content not to have to go chasing you both about. However, if you think she could use the chance to her advantage, I wouldn't mind taking her with me when I go out. Yata-chan and Tama-chan could work quite well together, given the opportunity to learn."

He laughed softly, leaning in a little closer to kiss Seimei properly.

"Well. Perhaps one day." Shaking his head lightly, "...and I would love to see how that combination would go down..." Theoretically it was a good one - what Tama-chan couldn't reach from the ground, Yata-chan could reach from the air. But putting them together? Sometimes it felt like the only reason Yata-chan put up with Tama-chan was because he could always fly away from her.

"Tama-chan is always willing to work with others - and you know she adores you, she'd follow you anywhere - but... you know how Yatchan is."

"He needs to learn to cooperate better with others. Peckers, by their very nature, are community animals that communicate well and work in large groups. We do not have a comparable flock in the Bastion. If he is to accomplish anything, he should learn with another native animal that has already adapted. I think they'll be fine," the onmyoji murmured with a shrug, smoothing a hand fondly over Kaoru's hair and pressing his lips to the boy's briefly.

"But come. The journey is not overlong, but we should get there at a reasonable hour. As much I would love to spend time alone with you, a graveyard is hardly romantic. Perhaps we will have an unlikely stroke of luck and the house will be vacant enough that we can have some time together. A leisurely bath sounds nice."

"...which is strange, no? That Tama-chan is so personable, given what you told me about her mother, and that Yatchan is so antisocial, despite the fact that he would belong to a flock under normal circumstances..." His eyes slid shut at the touch and the kiss, a smile lingering on his lips even as Seimei pulled away.

"Yes. Home." Even without luck they had locks on doors if they needed... A lightly impatient tug on Seimei's hand. Yes, everything his onmyoji had proposed was rather wonderful.
