[The urgency in Colin's tone was evident. He'd taken another bath to get the blood off him, but that scent was unmistakable.]

I need you, we need to hunt!




[Now that Colin had enlisted his air support, it was time to get a strike team. He had no snacks for bribery this time, just an eerie look of serenity on his face as he headed to the monument to track down some heavy hitters. He snagged his amplifier from his lab, so that when he speaks, he's not going to be hard to hear.]

HEY! I need our big guns out here, post-haste! We've got a mission, search and destroy time!

[Dare you approach?]

Thanks. When we put it down, I'm gonna make sure it stays down...I owe Rin and Night at least that much.

[There was that jaw tightening again. All the things he'd wanted to say...all the things he'd never gotten the chance to, everything wanted to come out as if voicing all his feelings would somehow bring Night back; but that was stupid.]

[Colin nods crisply at that.]

That said, this is not a murder squad. We're going out there for justice, and we're going out hard.

If it surrenders, we're bringing it back in one piece. Rin deserves to take it out more than any of us.

... And if it doesn't surrender, well... we're all gonna be there to make sure it doesn't leave unless it's in a casket.

[For a second, Ippo wanted to argue...but when Rin's name came up, those feelings were shut down quickly. Colin was right...if anyone had a right to end that...thing, it was Rin herself. Still, he felt a bitterness rise in the back of his throat as he stared down on his hands as they curled into tight fists.]

Does it...make me a bad person to want to see that thing murdered? Justice...it's a nice word, but that doesn't really mean anything to me right now...I just want to see it pounded into the ground until it stops moving. Is that wrong of me?

Not wrong at all.

[Colin shakes his head.]

It hurt ours, we need to hurt it. It's instinct.

And you know what? I will be more than happy to see this thing try to fight or run. I don't care if it dies fighting or fleeing.

I only want to make sure we do things right, rather than doing it rash.

Just don't lose yourself in those thoughts. Revenge only accomplishes so much before it goes horribly wrong.

[Ippo took a deep breath and placed his fists against his head lightly; something he'd taken to doing before a round to calm himself down. He counted to ten and finally lowered his hands, looking much calmer...though certainly no less dangerous; his anger wasn't gone, it had simply been toned down and focused.]

You're right. Let's do this right, together. We'll make that thing pay, one way or another.

[Colin grins slightly, and reaches out to clap Ippo on the shoulder.]

Go get a bite to eat, or catch a quick nap, or whatever you need. I plan to set out as soon as possible, but it still won't be for a few hours at least.

[He gave his friend a small nod and set off towards the kitchen; he wasn't hungry much, but he figured a quick bite would suffice before he brought Rin something. He wanted to make sure she ate before he left at the very least.]
