[Day 153] I understood the meaning of love... [OPEN]
Who: Rin and YOU!
Open: Open
When: 153, afternoon
Where: The Gazebo
What: The past few days have been difficult, but Rin is in a surprisingly good mood today. Apparently that's enough to warrant randomly singing??
Format: Starting in action, but I'll folow
Warnings: Rin being Rin is a given by now.
[The past few days had been a whirlwind of emotion. Some good, some bad, but all of it actually fairly exhausting. In it, though, Rin had gotten out some much needed things that had been bottling up for some time, and in a stark contrast to the anger that had nearly destroyed the kitchen, she found herself in a surprisingly good mood this day.
Like. Really good mood.
Good enough to apparently sing. Which she didn't do very often at all. Sometimes she could be caught humming a song while working, but actually singing something?
Well, she did used to be in the church choir growing up, so it wasn't that far fetched of an idea. But it had been years since then, and her voice was a little out of practice.
Still, something about that good mood compelled her to make her way over to the gazebo where the piano was. She couldn't play (Yuki could, but even she had fallen out of practice with that in recent years, too) but she knew enough to strike a note and start from there. She wasn't singing to anyone in particular, and the song that came out of here surprisingly wasn't a church hymn.]
Kuon no shijima yagate sora ni
aoku aoku tokete nijinde
mahiru no tsuki no usui kage wa
sugu ni sugu ni mirai wo yobu...
[It didn't quite sound the same without some accompaniment, but she still got rather in to it. Enough that she probably wouldn't notice if some one stopped to listen...]

[... She eyes Rin's tail carefully, but doesn't say anything yet. Hmm...]

I've lived in the same city my whole life... until here anyway. I guess I just stopped thinkin' about all that after a while...
[It was easier that way]
no subject
[... Yeah okay she has to ask.]
... What are you, by the way?

[From the way she says it...]
I'm guessing the Christian kind. Otherwise you'd probably have specified.
[She relaxes visibly, expression softening.]
I'm half-kitsune.

[That earns a curious look, and for a moment she was reminded, for some reason, of Izumo.
It was just because she had fox familiars, right? Had to be it...]
A friend of mine said half breeds weren't that odd in our world...

[She knows a lot of them, though.]

[What? Sounds like some Yakuza shit.]

It's the network that we nonhumans hang out in. You're not exactly going to get by walking down the street if you're an oni or something. So we've got safehouses in the bigger cities. And for those of us who can pass as human we've got networks set up to get you fake IDs or something.
... I mean, people are gonna notice if you live in the same place for twenty years and don't look like you've aged a day.

[Okay suddenly her life under the thumb of the Order doesn't seem all that bad.]

Look. I don't like to get people down, but my best friend got killed right before I woke up here. He was the only person I gave a shit about. When you move around so much you don't make friends so easily.

[Shiro died even before the Calamity happened.]

[The last few years had been difficult. Her and Shiro fought all the time, she was constantly getting in to trouble, being compared to her sister who had done so much better in life.
And then there was the night she found out what she really was...
"Don't you ever call yourself my father again!"
Pain flashed through Rin's eyes at the memories. She could cry for days about what had happened, but no amount of tears were ever going to make those last words to him sting any less.
That was just something she had to live with.
But the days before then... her childhood, those days had been wonderful. And she wouldn't have traded it for anything.]
... yeah. Yeah, I was.
no subject
... Hold onto that.
[She hunches her shoulders a bit, before letting out a breath of annoyance.]
It's kind of weird here. Not too bad though, I guess.
[Forced subject change go.]

It used to be a lot smaller. We didn't have much startin' out so... you're seein' it a good time, I think.
