What: The past few days have been difficult, but Rin is in a surprisingly good mood today. Apparently that's enough to warrant randomly singing??

Warnings: Rin being Rin is a given by now.

[The past few days had been a whirlwind of emotion. Some good, some bad, but all of it actually fairly exhausting. In it, though, Rin had gotten out some much needed things that had been bottling up for some time, and in a stark contrast to the anger that had nearly destroyed the kitchen, she found herself in a surprisingly good mood this day.

Like. Really good mood.

Good enough to apparently sing. Which she didn't do very often at all. Sometimes she could be caught humming a song while working, but actually singing something?

Well, she did used to be in the church choir growing up, so it wasn't that far fetched of an idea. But it had been years since then, and her voice was a little out of practice.

Still, something about that good mood compelled her to make her way over to the gazebo where the piano was. She couldn't play (Yuki could, but even she had fallen out of practice with that in recent years, too) but she knew enough to strike a note and start from there. She wasn't singing to anyone in particular, and the song that came out of here surprisingly wasn't a church hymn.]

[It didn't quite sound the same without some accompaniment, but she still got rather in to it. Enough that she probably wouldn't notice if some one stopped to listen...]

Some better lockpicking tools. Handmade ones are fine, but I miss having my whole set.

You never know what you're going to find out there, right? And it feels weird not to have them.

I haven't found anythin' locked yet, but... I'unno I could be lookin' in the wrong places.

It's good to keep in practice, though. As long as they're not electronic locks - I don't really have the stuff for those.

If we found anythin' like that here it'd have to be on somethin' left over from a world that ain't this one.

I doubt there's anyone left to steal from out there, but uh... who knows. This place can be pretty unpredictable.

Well, no. Not in here. But even if I'm not a fighter, I can get in and out of places.

No one can do everything. It's not a skillset meant for everyone.

I'unno if throwin' myself face first in to things is really a "skill set".

Well, yeah. Demons ain't built weak or anythin'.

Yeah, true. Some are just focused on things other than combat.

Really? Where I'm from most of 'em are pretty ready to jump in and tear some one's face off...

I guess it depends what you count as a demon. Do kitsune and tanuki count? What about oni? Are they even in the same category? Hell, we argue about labels all the time. Even 'supernatural creatures' is enough to get some of the more touchy ones going.

Technically. They were usually regarded as guardians where I'm from, though. Same with certain Oni. If they lost control though, we had to take care of 'em...

Really it depended on the demon, I think... I've met some that weren't nearly the assholes that bothered me every day.

Oni mostly end up working as security for the people in the Underground who actually have some kind of political office. ... Taro had a habit of jumping on their backs and treating it like a rodeo.

[She smiles a little bit at that. Taro... what an idiot.]

I think Oni were kinda guardians in a lot of Buddhist stuff. 'least that's what I remember from the things my boyfriend told me. So, makes sense.

Yeah, true. I mostly stay away from myths and stuff. Making a living just keeps me busy.

... And every so often I'll get the documents to do another round of high school or community college, just to keep myself up to date on things. And before you say "why would you do that", keep in mind that high school is a pretty good deal if you grew up without even really knowing how to write.
