Day 152 | Open
Who: Colin, and YOU! That's right, you.
Open: Open
When: Day 152, mid-morning
Where: At the monument
What: Setting up another expedition to the Observatory.
Format Can match.
Warnings: Standard Colin warning. Anyone involved may find themselves saying "Colin pls" or "Dammit Colin" without much warning.
Colin's spent much of the morning gathering food from the farm. Navits, donuts from the trees, and some fresh veggies as well. Normally, he'd take these to the distillery for Rin to work on, but today he's got a different plan. He's set up a table in front of the monument, and he's spread out the snacks on plates. Then, he's going to sit behind the table and start working on some electronics while he waits for people to approach him. He'd have done this sooner, but the past couple of days have been rough on the Bastion's inhabitants.
The food bribery method has worked for Tris, he's hoping it's going to work for him too. Of course, if it doesn't he'll track down a couple of select people. But he'll see how his fishing expedition goes first.
(OOC: In four days in-game time, Colin will be taking another group to the Mancer's Observatory. There's a giant plant that needs to be dealt with, and Colin wants to go through the Mancer's hangar to salvage ships or ship parts. If you want in? By all means, post here! There will be an OOC post a little later on to better organize things, but this will give us some IC time to prep for it.)
(EDITED: Per Mod request, the expedition will now take place on Day 156.

[If Donut Trees were a thing...then Ippo really needed to put his mind to this one; he needed to think of the absolute most insane thing he could think of...for science.]
What about a plant...that made little round ball-like fruits...and whenever you picked the fruit it would latch on to whatever food you were thinking about...and then the fruit would taste like that food.
[There we go, that sounded nice and crazy.]

[Yep, he's actually taking it seriously.]
Empathy is a trait inherent in many plant species, but telepathy... even selective telepathy. That would be a sight to see.

[Ippo has learned by now that if Colin is taking something seriously, it means that its at the very least worth looking into...and boy would he like a fruit that could taste like whatever he wanted.]

When you invent something, make sure you know how to use it. Or how it could be used wrong...
Imagining a food you don't like, or are afraid of, for example... could cause a bad reaction.
no subject
[That would be unpleasant and considering how easily a mind could wander...]
Well, where should we start then?

[Colin nods swiftly]
Some of the best inventions any race has ever come up with came from stories imagining things they don't yet have. Even food and drinks can be creative.
There's a terran vid that my wife introduced me too. Said it was terrifying in parts, but also appealed to the sweet tooth her family introduced her to.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, I think it was? With the multi-flavored gum, and ever-lasting jaw breakers? And the candy-stuffs that grow on trees?

That sounds like a good place to start! Or maybe something like from a video game! Like...a potion that restores stamina or something to that effect?
[His experience with video games was...limited but he'd played a few in his day.]

I know the Mrrshan have medicine from a seed-bearing flower that simulates adrenaline. They use it in a lot of combat situations and sacred rituals.
[He pauses, and realizes he should explain.]
... They're an aggressive species. Good people, honorable, but aggressive.
