Let the Festival Begin [Day 143 | Day 144]

For the past week or so, it may feel like to some that the Bastion is gearing up for something. And not anything bad, either. Something good and oh so needed. It's not just the people, the Caels and the Ura that are aware of what the coming days would mean if the world was still intact. It's like the very Bastion itself has suddenly gained new life, and there's a power over it that's greater than any person, creature or Core.

Anyone who is still awake as dawn breaks over the Bastion may find themselves inexplicably tired for no reason at all, and unable to give in to an intense need to close their eyes, just for a moment.

When everyone wakes, and I do mean everyone, the Bastion will be transformed. Decorations, lights strung across every angle, wreaths, tables with colorful cloths over them, streamers and banners and so much stuff just seemingly out of nowhere! The entire Bastion, suddenly a vibrant, beautiful place for a celebration. And not just any celebration.

[That's an affirmative answer. She does know how to make pizza crust. This is a bit out of the blue (and her mouth is still full, sorry) but hey if it's for her dragon buddy.]

This is probably a really rude question, but this looks a lot like eating and playing games.

[ The knight indicates the chaos before them and the giant table behind with a head motion. ]

Trying strength against something meant to depict one, I can see that as a sort of honoring - showing you can give a good fight, I think - and I'll assume the provided food wasn't from our kitchens, so eating what they provide makes sense, but the gambling doesn't to me.

[ Its a waste of shards, unless the shards being "lost" go to the gods. Do the gods like shards?

Thinking on that is going to give Duke a headache, though.... ]

What I was thinking was... Pizza crust, mammoth flank steaks, a couple of heads of lettuce, a pound and a half of cheese, several turkey breasts, and... I honestly have no idea what kind of condiment to put on that, actually. Mustard is a given... Pepper would probably help it... And then top it with the other pizza crust.

ANYWAY! A giant sandwich for Paarth. Something he could really dig into. See what I'm getting at?

[To emphasize, Colin holds his arms out to signify the size of the thing in his mind.]

I realize it's probably not gonna be EASY... But I think Paarth deserves something good from us.

[ Not that the gathering feels particularly large to her. Maybe because it isn't terribly loud? ]

Do you think if I look through something, that would be cheating? No one else can search the way I would try.

[ She might be getting a little frustrated, but cheating is still pretty bad. ]

"Feel free. Chime may drop presents in your lap or steal off your plate." Tris picks a spot clear so he can sit nearby, and then has to scoot Chime out of the cleared place. The glass dragon has already been at the food, a golden streak of amber and honeycomb visible in her belly.

"That's fine," Colin said, smiling first at Tris, and then at Chime. "During a festival, I think Chime can get away with a little bit of banditry."

Colin grabs a seat, and reaches out to grab some fruit. "There seems as though there will be more than enough to go around, and then some," he added. "Are you two having a good time?"

[ She frowns at that. ]

Frederic ... you look like you're pouting.

But she does listening, trying to get her huge bite down to something manageable.]

The crust... [okay, actually swallowing that bite now] shouldn't be too hard. The wood ovens here are pretty big.

"At the very least, getting a gift out of it probably makes up for it." Chime preens under his smile, before taking off to study the rest of the table.

"Well enough - its better than all the parties I had been to recently, and some of this food looks like things we could make, if I knew how." The things Tris had picked out looked fairly simple. "Are you?"

[True. Allegretto had white-ish hair, too. Frederic still finds it startling, though.]

I don't dislike them, no. I'm far more used to entertaining them, though.

I know that these look like, so I can find more without looking under every bush.
