Let the Festival Begin [Day 143 | Day 144]

For the past week or so, it may feel like to some that the Bastion is gearing up for something. And not anything bad, either. Something good and oh so needed. It's not just the people, the Caels and the Ura that are aware of what the coming days would mean if the world was still intact. It's like the very Bastion itself has suddenly gained new life, and there's a power over it that's greater than any person, creature or Core.

Anyone who is still awake as dawn breaks over the Bastion may find themselves inexplicably tired for no reason at all, and unable to give in to an intense need to close their eyes, just for a moment.

When everyone wakes, and I do mean everyone, the Bastion will be transformed. Decorations, lights strung across every angle, wreaths, tables with colorful cloths over them, streamers and banners and so much stuff just seemingly out of nowhere! The entire Bastion, suddenly a vibrant, beautiful place for a celebration. And not just any celebration.

[He's heard kicking machines sometimes help them to work, but he'll withhold on that action until he sees if Francis wins or loses horrible.]

[That gets a bit of an eye roll. There's a reason she's so protective of her kitchen. If Mireille would let her she would have a test to see who is and isn't worthy of entering her domain.

But as it stands all she can do is give orders when she's actually present.]

[And with that she shoos him to a corner. Stay there, Colin. And don't touch anything.]

[Rin makes a 'come on' motion with both hands, and that seems to wake the sleeping bull. It lets out steam through it's nose with a snort, glowing red and shaking just before it charges at the teenage half demon. Rin waits, crouched in a ready position, and only when it's inches from her does she jump.

Not to the side, but over the bull at a height that would be impossible for anyone not like her, landing with a skid and a turn behind it.]

... no. ... not... for the entire festival, no. I will find my footing again soon enough.

[Or one of his three will force him to finding his footing again. Whichever comes first.]

Well, I won't deny that's a wise choice. When the Gorging Host gets to be generous, the chance shouldn't be ignored.

[He starts to reach for some beef- it seems appropriate given the festival.]

[The tumblers eventually stop spinning, landing on two BARS and a cherry.]

... well that's not... terrible. [he says, glancing at the key at the top of the machine.]

Then I think I'll stay with mine, if it is all the same to you. This whole situation is... complicated enough as it is.

[That's a sight to see.]

[Zulf raises a curled hand to his mouth, watching careful as can be. That sort of thing isn't what he was expecting, and it certainly means no chance of Pyth turning his head too sharply and getting her with one of his horns. However, it might tire her out a bit more.. He keeps watching, because Pyth isn't done yet.]

Is that going to happen anytime today?

[Rin gives a rueful smile at that. Oh if those people in charge had any idea of what was right behind them all the time...

Though that's a thought that holds no weight now.]

Especially the way we've been eatin' before this. Man, I didn't realize how much I missed!

[She has a learned a thing or two in her training. The only reason Pyth got the upper hand on her before was because she wasn't expecting it. Now, though, she knows the bull a little better.

Won't stop her from getting too cocky the more this goes on.

It's already kind of starting, too. Not enough to be a detriment just yet, but there's a bit of heat rippling off her exposed skin, and her tail starts to take on a blue glow. She's getting worked up, and chances are this will bite her in the ass soon enough.

Pyth trembles and snorts and bellows, wheeling around on the girl. She gives it a sharp-toothed grin from where she's crouched while waiting for the next attack. This time, though, when Pyth gets close she launches herself up on top of his head and throws herself at the low pit wall, latching a hand on to the fence to keep herself up there.

Basically, she's going for the "monkey in the cage" approach.]

[Colin does as he's told, without complaint. He's in her work area. If she came into his lab, he'd expect her to act the same way.

That doesn't mean he won't prank her HARD sometime in the future, that just means that he respects that this is her territory.]

[Good boy. And yes, she would do the same in his lab.

But this is her place and she runs this kitchen whenever Mireille isn't around. The way she works is practically professional, expert, measuring and mixing and rolling out until at last there's a crust going in to the oven to bake.

She comes back to the other side to start working on getting the filling ready, and allows herself to be a little more distracted by that point.]

I'm actually rather relieved at the timing, if I may be honest. I found a friend just yesterday who managed to survive... Although I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at all. [A slight smile.] He is.. hardy, you could say.

[That is a nicer topic. Rin's tail even starts to wag a bit. She always loves to hear that some one else from another's world made it safely there.]
