I was talking to Nathaniel earlier, and he said you were the person to talk to when it came to magic. So... I have a lot of questions, and I hope that you don't mind if I ask you some?

[That earns a chuckle from Louise.]

He said that, did he? Clearly that boy doesn't understand what magic truly is.

I can try to answer your questions, but bear in mind that magic is different across worlds. The magic I know is vastly different from the magic the Bastion was built with, for example.

That makes two of us. [A bit of a sheepish smile at that. Osahar still only has a vague idea of what magic is, and as an engineer, not knowing is starting to bother him. At least Louise might be able to offer some answers.

The first one is a bit of a surprise, though.] Does that mean you've come from a different world? ...do you know anything about the magic Bastion was built with? It's all right if you don't, but right now I'm just trying to get as much information as I can.

All I know about it is what I sense about it. It's powerful magic. Very powerful. And it's very intricately built, and there was definitely more than one magic-user involved. It must have some kind of protection built into it as well, because magic is supposed to disappear when the caster dies.

But the most peculiar thing about it is how the zone of safety works. If there was ever a spell I wish I could dissect, that is it.

Huh... [He nods as he listens, paying close attention to what Louise says. It sounds complicated, but that, he believes, is just because he's proceeding from a base of no knowledge. Once he learns more, it should start to make sense. He just has to keep trying until it does.

Still, some of what Louise says confuses the man.] Well... why can't you take a more in-depth look at the spells? For that matter, are these spells... well, delicate? If that zone of safety goes down, we're all in trouble.
