[A delicious smell begins to waft out of the Distillery in the early afternoon. Anyone who investigates will find that Mireille has baked a rather large cake, topped with bright yellow frosting and blue flowers.

Also, whoever enters the Distillery will be asked a question.]

Waah... cake... it's been forever since I've seen one!

I almost wanna eat it right now!

[She chuckles.]

It seemed like the right time to have cake. I might not be able to make one when it's time for the festival, so why not make one now?

Festival? What festival?

Where I come from, we have a midsummer festival. Even though we don't have seasons here anymore, there has been talk of celebrating anyway. Esther and Nathaniel seemed interested.

It is still some days away, at least a month or more, but I may not be available to make desserts then.

[She pats her very large stomach as she says that.]

H... heh. That's... kinda funny. Before... everythin' that happened, our school was gettin' ready for a festival.

[Rin fidgets a little, looking down at her hands with a sad smile. A huff, and she straightens, looking brighter.]

You should teach me how to make the food for it!

I think I could do that. If I can't prepare the traditional dishes, then I might as well make sure someone else can.

Hey, y'know I'm good for it! Whatever happens, I can handle the Distillery when you need time off.

What about babysitting duty? I don't think Sam will take to that job very well.

Uhm... w-well... yeah, I guess so. I'm pretty good with kids.

[Her only worry was that an infant might be freaked out by her non-human traits, but that's a bridge they'll have to cross when they get to it.]

[Mireille chuckles.]

There's no need to look so worried. Babysitting wouldn't happen for many months, not until my child is old enough to walk.

Hehe... I'm sure I can handle it! It's just been a long time since I did anythin' like that. And little kids don't always react well to... well...
