Day 323 (Open)

Who: Colin, anyone interested in what he's doing.
Open: Like a convenience store.
When: Day 323, all morning. (BACKDATED)
Where: Several key locations around the Bastion.
What: Setting up surveillance systems
Format: Action to start, but anything's good.
Warnings: A short-tempered Colin.

[Just the other day he had been speaking with Nathan about the thefts that had been taking place. They'd agreed that some sort of surveillance system would be necessary in order to better defend against the thief.]

[Then the party came back, minus two souls, and Colin's mind went straight into defense mode. Cameras were purchased, sites were chosen, and plans were put in motion.]

[This morning Colin is moving from place to place, setting up cameras and wires as appropriate. Some of the cameras are huge, blatant affairs that can't help but be noticed. Others are tiny, designed to be hidden.]

[He's stopping by most of the buildings in the Bastion to set up at least one camera. If anyone has an opinion on big brother, now's your time to express yourself.]

[Apparently a dragon has similar concerns about security and is just... sitting there at the entrance to the skyway, standing guard]

[She turns her head when she notices Colin setting up a camera and... well, slowly nods approvingly]

[Surprisingly, the one person who usually has something to say about Colin's behavior...

doesn't actually have anything to say.

Or rather, she doesn't seem present to do so when he comes by the Distillery/kitchen. In fact the entire kitchen appears deserted. Not even the usual scent of cooked food is in the air, and while a couple of pots and some food is out, there's no sign of Rin.

Except for the pantry door being slightly open. If Colin can pull himself out of distress mode long enough, it might be worth investigating.]

[The cameras by the storehouse are not the ones Bon objects to. There had been thievery lately, and the best defense is making people think they are watched.

Nor does he object to the ones in the main areas, like by the Skyway bridge and the hospital and such. Those are common areas, he can deal with that.

It's when the cameras get to the more residential areas that he finally speaks up.]

[The dragonfield, where Myrrh has been spending most of her time since arriving—she's fond of the company there; it's safe and familiar—may be off limits, but she notices the buzz of activity on the other side of the lake. Eventually, she gets to wandering, and gets a better look at its source as Colin sets up a camera by the hospital.]

Excuse me, Colin? [She comes close enough to get a good look at them, speaks loudly enough to be heard; he is a friend, and has always answered her questions before. Every day, she finds something new here in this world so ahead of her own.] What are those?

[... there's no hint of disapproval at all in her voice, just an observation-]

[He comes out of the communal hive for once, and look what the hell is going on. He pauses to watch Colin set up a camera and, instead of trying to play pictionary again, actually tries to speak.]

[...It's not successful. Not really. But Colin can probably make out the vague attempt at "what the fuck".]

[Rob notices the appearance of a few cameras with confusion, annoyance, and discomfort, and sees who the source of them is while Colin's at the Distillery. He heads over, with bandages and taped-down squares of gauze on his injuries still, a few of them darkened with tiny spots of blood.]

Uh, what're you doing?

[He knows exactly what Colin's doing, and doesn't like it. Colin likely knows that Rob understands what's happening here. Rob just isn't sure how else to start this conversation, at least not without coming off as aggressive and hostile right out of the gate.]
