Who: Colin, anyone interested in what he's doing.
Open: Like a convenience store.
When: Day 323, all morning. (BACKDATED)
Where: Several key locations around the Bastion.
What: Setting up surveillance systems
Format: Action to start, but anything's good.
Warnings: A short-tempered Colin.

[Just the other day he had been speaking with Nathan about the thefts that had been taking place. They'd agreed that some sort of surveillance system would be necessary in order to better defend against the thief.]

[Then the party came back, minus two souls, and Colin's mind went straight into defense mode. Cameras were purchased, sites were chosen, and plans were put in motion.]

[This morning Colin is moving from place to place, setting up cameras and wires as appropriate. Some of the cameras are huge, blatant affairs that can't help but be noticed. Others are tiny, designed to be hidden.]

[He's stopping by most of the buildings in the Bastion to set up at least one camera. If anyone has an opinion on big brother, now's your time to express yourself.]

[Colin glances over at her and smirks teasingly.]

Exteriors only, and only on vital locations, unless someone requests observation on something of theirs.

Meaning... I won't set a camera up at the Daycare unless you want it. ... And I'd probably find a better observation point than the shower.

I really don't like the idea of anyone peeking in on me in the shower, really, so thanks.

[ N would be an exception, if he were into that. She smiles. ]

I'll let you know if we need one, but we seem to be doing fine. Besides, I think it'd hurt Emboar's pride if we put one up. He's Daycare Security, after all, and he does a really good job.

[ Zorua barks, to emphasize how cool her big bro is! ]

[Colin smiles warmly at her.]

I'm actually quite confident that you're safe. Between Emboar and Zoroark, and Zorua too, I think you all have some of the best security in the Bastion.

You'll sniff out anything that doesn't belong, won't you Zorua? And Emboar will give it a whooping?

[Can't forget the little one, can he?]

[ Oh no, her tail's a-waggin'!!! Zorua is happily barking back at Colin. Yes, I'll keep Mama and everyone else safe!! ]

Careful, her ego can only be stroked so many times a day ...

[ She does pet the little fox, though, because she's a cutie and she's a good girl. Zorua enjoys the pettings. A lot. ]

Yeah, but you know me. I spoil the kids as much as I can without getting them into bad habits.

[He smiles a little wider. He really does like Zorua and the others. They do a good job of raising his spirits.]

I hope everyone's as open-minded about this as you are, though.

I can imagine there might be some opposition .... but given recent happenings, it's really not a bad idea to take extra precautions.

[ Zorua's back to being totally confused about the situation. Why weren't they praising her still? She was here for praising! And petting. ]

[He would totally be petting you if he didn't have to work, Zorua. You'll get pettin's later.]

That's putting it lightly. I wholely expect to have at least some of the people here to raise a fuss about it, demand I take everything down, and then some.

Probably. Just remind them that this is for the safety of the Bastion and don't budge on it. You're stubborn, you've got this.

[ She really doesn't want to be around when some of the louder, more opinionated people learn of this ... ]

Oh, don't you worry. I've faced down louder, angrier voices than anyone here.

[He actually laughs at that, not a dismissive laugh, just one of fond memory.]

[ Hilda can't imagine a fond memory involving loud, angry voices, but Colin's always been a little strange. ]

As long as you can handle that responsibility, I guess.

[Hilda's never been in a spirited debate about hyperspace physics and engine efficiency with leading authorities in the Psilon academic community. She should thank Arceus and Reshiram and Zekrom for that one...]

The responsibility's fine. Everyone likes yelling at the people who actually do the work that inconveniences them.

How are you and N holding together? And the kids, for that matter.

[He gives Zorua a look.]

Both of us had some hospital time recently.

[ That was awkward. And painful. ]

We're okay, though ... or, as okay as we can be. N's emotionally scarred from what happened.

[ Then again, when isn't N emotionally scarred. ]

The kids are fine, though. Worried about us, but otherwise okay.

[Colin sighs quietly.]

Why couldn't the calamity have sent us a therapist?

Is there anything I can do to help either of you?

Even if they had sent us one, I doubt N would want to talk about his feelings. He seems to have trouble with that a lot ...

[ Which isn't surprising, given how he was raised. ]

I really don't know what help can be given, but I'll let you know if we need anything.

[He sighs, and tries to smile. It's a little lacking.]

Maybe see if AZ can get him to open up? Or perhaps Floette?

[Yeah, N's issues with words are a bit of a problem...]

Anyway, yeah. I'm always available to you. Are the kids wanting for anything? Other than pettin's for hours on end?

I guess that's a possibility. I think Floette would have a better chance at it, though. N seems to respond better to Pokemon.

[ She shrugs. She's worried, but ... Not much she can really do. ]

Well, I know this one will always want the petting.

[ Zorua leans up and licks her mama's cheek. Love meeeee Mamaaaa ... ]

And Floette is definitely wise enough to have some idea of what she's dealing with, too.

Maybe bring it up with them next time you talk to them?

[He smiles, and he reaches over to scratch Zorua's back.]

I'll be sure to.

[ She sighs. She's clearly worried. But she also understands this isn't quite the sort of thing that can just be gotten over in a matter of days.

Zorua, meanwhile, is distracted by scratches. She likes that a lot. ]

Can I offer you a hug in the meantime? You sound like you could use it...

[Still scritchin'. Yep, he's a Zorua-spoiler.]

A hug would be nice.

[ She really did need a hug, truth be told. ]

Come 'ere then.

[He sets his tools aside and he stands, opening his arms for Hilda to step closer.]

You too, Zorua. You're both getting such a hug.

[ She steps closer to him at that. Zorua is very confused, because why did he stop scratching her, but she figured this was more for mama than for her. She was okay with that. ]

[Yeah, Hilda. You're getting a tight hug, practically lifting you off the ground. You too, Zorua, you're in here, you're getting held close to him.]

If you think of ANYTHING you need, anything at all, just ask. I'll do whatever I can.
