Day 321 | A Walkabout

Megaera had been thinking about things recently. About where the Bastion was headed, and what hope that might entail. While she'd come to accept that her former world was lost - and her world before that in turn, almost assuredly - it was still difficult to accept some of the things that were lost.

People were one thing. But the knowledge lost - and how much of the world's magic was going to be possibly forever crippled by not having enough arcane energy to cast more than three times per day without special tonics... That hurt more than anything. To someone who placed her identity as a wizard first and moremost, the idea of an entire world's development being lost - so much beyond her ability to know what to ask for, let alone to comprehend and use it - was really starting to get to her.

So she walked. Through the new forest, to the hot springs, to the very edges of the Bastion, out on her usual shard run... She'd been moving basically nonstop.

Patchouli found Megaera in the forest. She hadn't even known about the forest and decided to take a look around. There wasn't much terribly of interest, but she came across her friend pretty quickly.

It was nice to see one of those again.

"Hi," she spoke, approaching Megaera from behind.

Megaera jumped a bit - her thoughts really WERE distracted if she hadn't noticed Patchouli coming.

"Uh... Hi, Patchy," Megaera responded, turning around. "You doing well?"

"Pretty much," she replied. "I hadn't really bothered to investigate this forest, though.

"And you? Have you been here before?"

"Nope. Someone wished it up, I guess. Looked like a nice place to try and get away from a few things..."

"I guess so," Patchouli stated. "It seems like a very quiet place."

She could certainly appreciate a quiet place, of course.

Zuko catches sight of Megaera as she's coming out of the forest, and she may not be the most perceptive person, but the other woman looks like she's got something on her mind.

"Everything all right?"

Megaera stopped, looking towards Zuko and half-heartedly waving before hearing her question.

"... I guess? I just... Have been thinking about something."

[daughterofursa]

"You need someone to listen?"

Megaera's lent an ear and her advice in the past, and while Zuko isn't sure she can return the favor in terms of advice, she can at least listen.

"... That'd be nice."

Megaera leaned by a tree. "I... Guess I just kind of realized something I've not thought about in the time I've been here until now..."

Zuko settles back against a different tree and gives a nod, waiting for her to continue. She guesses it probably has something to do with Megaera's home, but she can't really be sure.

[The edge of the Bastion would include one swamp, where a certain dragon rises her head from the murky depths to eye the succubus]

I would ask what brings you to my swamp, but you appear rather distracted to have any sort of destination in mind.

[Megaera stops. She's seriously considering just teleporting to the other side of the Bastion after a hurried apology. For now, though, she'll slow down.]

... Pretty much. Sorry. Didn't mean to intrude.

[As much as Mitellux had a inclination toward distrusting humanoids, she had to acknowledge that she was stuck with them. Probably for a good long while. Perhaps it'd be prudent to establish some rapport... ]

Something is bothering you, Megaera. Do you care to speak of it?

... Thinking of things that were lost. Knowledge, in particular.

There's been so much that's been destroyed by this Calamity...

[she paused for a moment, briefly considering how much she has lost herself, before shaking her head]

Knowledge... of the arcane nature, or something else?

[darkshooter]

[Usual shard run, you say? Well, here's someone just coming back from it. The pack she's carrying has her usual score within it.]

[And when she notices you, she makes it a point to approach - and then to stop and nod.]


Greeter.

[Megaera slightly nodded to Shooter, sighing.]

Good evening. Good run today?

[darkshooter]

[She turns slightly, putting the aforementioned pack in full view.]

The same.


[A normal take, just the amount she's used to.]

.... Good thing to observe. Hopefully I'll be able to get my stack together here...

[And another shift, back to the previous posture. She says nothing, but remains still while watching you.]

She had come to realize that staying at the apartment and sleeping all day was probably not the best idea, no matter how wonderful it sounded. So, Takane had been trying to take fairly regular walks around the Bastion.

And that happens to be where she noticed emo Megaera.

It wasn't any of her business as to why Megaera was emo. Still, Haruka may have been rubbing off on her a little bit. (Or a lot, considering how much he hugged her--)

So, with a bit of hesitation, she made her way over to emo Megaera.

"Um ..."

She took a moment. Thought about her words.

"What's your problem?"

Smooth, Takane. Smooth.

Megaera stopped, looking towards Takane with a blink.

"... Just... Thinking about things," she said, sighing.

[headphoneactor]

Oh. Okay. Things.

But again, Haruka was rubbing off on her.

"What kind of things?"

[twinked_witch]

"... About things we've lost. Things I wish I had done. Where I go to get past those memories. All that."

[headphoneactor]

"Oh."

How does she personal conversation. Takane shifted a little.

"I try not to think about it."

By which she means she sleeps the depressing stuff off.
