Megaera had been thinking about things recently. About where the Bastion was headed, and what hope that might entail. While she'd come to accept that her former world was lost - and her world before that in turn, almost assuredly - it was still difficult to accept some of the things that were lost.

People were one thing. But the knowledge lost - and how much of the world's magic was going to be possibly forever crippled by not having enough arcane energy to cast more than three times per day without special tonics... That hurt more than anything. To someone who placed her identity as a wizard first and moremost, the idea of an entire world's development being lost - so much beyond her ability to know what to ask for, let alone to comprehend and use it - was really starting to get to her.

So she walked. Through the new forest, to the hot springs, to the very edges of the Bastion, out on her usual shard run... She'd been moving basically nonstop.

The most important? Zuko's put other things before her friendships in the past. But then, things were pretty complicated and she didn't know a lot about friendship to begin with.

"Maybe. It... gets too hard doing everything on your own."

"Yeah. We're... None of us are alone here. Even if sometimes it feels that way, we have one another."

Zuko nods, considers for a moment, and then asks, "Is this an ice cream situation?"

"... Probably. Among other things."

"What are the other things?"

Should she be hugging you or something?

"I just... Need to figure out how to not think about this too much," Megaera observed. "Focus down on the goals, in hopes of some serious advancement on some of the troubles I have that way."

"Giving yourself goals you can still accomplish here is good. And hobbies, right?"

Not that Zuko is very good with those, but everyone tells her she needs them. Megaera included.

"... There's some irony hearing that from you, you know," Megaera chuckled. "Though the point still stands..."

"Yeah, I know."

At least she's considering people's advice?

"Do you like to swim?"

"... Never really had a lot of chance. The village water was from a well, not a river, then academy training, then, uh, well you wouldn't want to swim in the rivers of the Vanguard even if you're immune to poison..."

Megaera blinked. "... Never had the chance to do much past bathing..."

"Well- Aoi's always looking for people to join her team, if you're interested. She can teach, too."

Plugging the girlfriend's swimteam.

"That... Might not be a bad idea. Mind, I'd need something appropriate to wear for that..."

One power Megaera did not have was breathing underwater, so being able to move was a good thing...

"The Monument can make swimsuits. It shouldn't be a problem."

Although some of them are... cut differently from what Zuko is used to.

"Makes sense. Should probably use some of my Shard stash anyways..."

"I haven't been sure what to do with those lately."

At least it's never a bad idea to have some on hand in case the Bastion runs low on power again.

"Hrm. Could do all sorts of fun things... The monument's capable of quite a lot."

"I guess I've gotten used to not having a lot."

Or maybe she's just unimaginative?

"True. But we can get more over time."

"After a certain point, it's just useless junk."

"Nah, it's only useless if it isn't fun," Megaera countered. A flatly materialistic view, but also a suitably simplistic one.

If only Uncle were here, they could go on a shopping spree together.

"You must have something in mind."

"... I wish. That's the hard part."

"I don't think I can help. Uncle used to buy a lot of junk, but... it really was just junk."

Unless you're into fancy pots and monkey statues.

"But did he enjoy getting it, and enjoy having it?", Megaera asked in turn. "If so, then that, itself, was what made it be more than junk."

"Uncle could enjoy just about anything..."
