Day 309 [Open]
Who: Anya, Ibuki, Patchouli, and anyone else!
Open: Open! Mostly.
When: Day 309
Where: All over the Bastion
What: SNOW!
Format: I'll match
Warnings: It's Anya.
[For Ibuki and Patchouli]
[Sometime after lunch, Anya takes off to look for two of her best lady friends with a spellbook under her arm and some key ingredients in her pockets.
She's quite cheerful about it, a little oblivious to whatever else might have been going on lately. Cheerful, and insistent. She will track you down.]
[Open to All]
[Later in the day, Bastionites may be surprised to look up and notice that... it's snowing. Not only that, but the temperature has dropped.
At least in the more southerly parts of the Bastion. The farmlands might get a few sporadic flurries, but it isn't cold enough there to stick.
So if you've been missing snowmen or snowball fights or any of those activities that require winter to happen, now's your chance. It's probably not going to last very long.]
((OOC: And feel free to just use this post for mingling!]

No.
[See how her black scales stands out against the snow? She can't blend in well with this shit, man]
This weather is unusual for this place, then?
[If this is just a one time thing, she can live with that]
no subject
Also the idea of a dragon blending in and being stealthy doesn't even cross his mind.]
Weather of any kind is unusual here. In the time I've been here it's remained the same temperature the entire time. I'm guessing that someone artificially created this weather somehow.
no subject
Hmph. Magic or technology could create this phenomenon.
[Mitellux was not terribly familiar enough with either to know much more than that, though. In the end, she was really just an assassin]
[Well, she has another way of blending in, but she's not ready to let people know about that just yet]
The core hunts appear to always be a dangerous endeavor. Why did you accompany the group?
[... yeah sorry, she's a bit blunt and wasn't terribly impressed by your contributions to the fight against the anklegator]

...Gotta make sure I'm doing something useful around here.
[It's not the whole truth but it isn't a lie either. It probably says something that this is the answer he feels most comfortable giving to a stranger.]
no subject
And was that display evidence of how 'useful' you normally are on the battlefield?

...
How long has it been since you've taken up the sword?
no subject
A bit over three months now? I started a bit after I came here. It's not something I ever had a chance to try in my world.
[Depending on how much Mitellux saw and how much she knows about swordfighting, she might have figured out that Rob has been getting instruction but has no actual talent for fighting. If she's very good, she might have picked up on the fact that the sword isn't the weapon he has the strongest affinity for; based on how he instinctively tries to wield a sword, that weapon would be a two-handed axe.
Also the mun just realized he never mentioned Rob's glowing-eyed rabbit skull necklace, but Mitellux is probably one of the people in the Bastion who cares the least about what humans wear.]no subject
Three months time is not nearly long enough for anybody, human or dragon, to be a reliable fighter. Not without natural talent, at the very least, or assistance from an unnatural source.
[She narrows her eyes down at him]
I have seen your kind before, and I have-[killed your kind before, she almost says]... seen the likes of you fall before, and they often end up dragging at least a few of their allies with them to their deaths.
You do not even wield the sword semi-appropriately, but as if it were a heavier weapon meant exclusively as a two handed weapon.
[She then lowers her gaze slightly, taking note of the necklace; yes Mitellux does care what humans wear, because you never know what might turn out to be a weapon. She'd question him about that later]
no subject
I, uh, I started out trying to use a sword and shield, but after Zuko started teaching me she said that I'd do better with a two-handed sword. It seems like she was right; I was having a lotta trouble making my hands do two different things while fighting, but swinging just a sword around is easier for me.
[The glow comes from a shard hanging in each eye socket. Other than that it's the skull and six largest legbones from an ordinary housecat-sized rabbit, exactly like the ones she may have seen around the Bastion, strung out on a cord made from brain-tanned rabbit hide. There is not a whiff of magic on it, unless the shards themselves count.]

because she has rogue levels with points in Use Magical Device-, but she certainly can't tell if something's magic or not by sight]There are other ways one can serve a community than through combat. Be thankful that this Bastion does not appear to be in the midst of war, rather than trying to plunge yourself recklessly into danger.
But should you still wish to serve this place through combat, know that time and patience is key to becoming an effective fighter. Spar, train, and learn. Only when you can hold your own against the other warriors of this place should you feel comfortable accompanying them on such dangerous ventures.
no subject
[Still not the whole truth, technically, but a good chunk of it.]
no subject
Do as you wish, then, but know your limits.
[She doesn't care about what Rob does outside of combat, honestly.]
no subject
I try to.
[Doesn't mean he's good at it, but he tries.]
