Day 77 :: Event - Finding a Core
[Day 77 is the day for the 'fine Marie' mission, and at first that is what everyone was supposed to do. But once out on the Skyway, the familiar twinkle of a Core can be seen in the distance, off in a direction that's nearly the opposite of where the group needs to go.
So, everyone has a choice to make: do they go after the Core, or keep looking for Marie?]

((OOC: Everyone can participate in the planning thread, but your character ultimately must choose to go with Group A or Group B. For players with more than one character, we ask that they don't put all of their characters in one group.
And remember, the group going after the Core has until 11:59 PM est on Sunday, June 16th, to obtain the Core.))]

[ The knight does want to go off to find one of the few other adults for this place, even if Marie seemed to be a bit ... spacey. Magical healing might be needed, when, because if was not going to come into the thought process, they found her.
On the other hand, the last time they went after a core, there had been a large creature intending to attack them. And with that snake-thing that had attacked them in the farm. Duke has a few tonics, and that means more healing, and more Blade Rolls just in case that works the way the knight meant to.
... Dammit. This is a hard choice. ]

Anyone got any ideas?

[Rin's suggestion comes quietly, but it's there. She hadn't been entirely herself lately, and it was showing more and more. But like always she keeps pushing forward, refusing to slow down and stop when there were things to be done.]

[ A grumpy sigh from the knight. ]
Did you guys have a big creature to beat down last time you were out for a core, or was that big pecker a strange thing.
[ Rin, Duke also isn't certain the snake is gone. That's what this is. ]

Obviously, he wanted to know the plan of action.
Upon returning to the Bastion and discovering a resident was missing, he had displayed obvious irritation; he was tense, his attentive gestures practically reptilian in their slow, predatory way. He had paced the entire Bastion in search of details and come up with nothing. Eventually he had returned to the central area, eavesdropping on conversations and concluding that a retrieval was being staged.
This made him angry.
People needed to stay in the Bastion. Stay safe. Build. Let those qualified to be in the Skyway go. Those, like himself, who were both expendable, and least likely to perish.
Unfortunately emotional investments tended to make people less than willing to adhere to common sense. So he had followed, determined to protect who he could.
Then, the revelation that a core was nearby. Cursing silently to himself, the German waited, listening to debates and concerns with little interest. What he wanted to know, was where he would be needed most. He wanted that core more than anything - building the new Eden was his primary goal - but what good with the core be if there were no people to reap the benefits, because they had all gone on some idiot crusade to save a dumme schlampe that shouldn't have wandered off in the first place!
It was enough to make his blood boil...had he any to do so.
No he was stuck with two unsavory choices, left at the whims of those around him, awaiting direction. ]

[Three guesses which group Alucard's planning on joining, and the first two don't count. It is worrisome that one of their number is missing, but at the risk of sounding terribly cold, his concern is more with the overall survival of this little community than the loss of a single person.]

Fuck... what would Koneko do if he were here... ?]
Then... then some one who can fight needs to go with the group that looks for Marie, and the rest of us that can fight need to go find the Core. I'unno if anythin' is gonna show up, but most of the time it's not an easy grab at all.
And... [God, it hurts to say this] as much as I wanna find Marie, the Core is important for the ones that are left... isn't it?

[And that's Crona, sounding a lot more firm and looking a lot more determined than usual.]
I can fight.

Along with that, he wants to keep an eye on Rin, so.]
I'll go with Okumura, then. Monsters seem to be drawn to the Cores, so we should have more fighters on that team.

[Not to rush everyone, but there is theoretically a time limit on both of these missions.]

[ Duke shifts, looking irritated. ]
If its something big, like that snake thing, I have magic that can keep it still. And healing. So that's a good idea to go with the core hunt.
[ And another shift. ]
But if Marie's been out there for this long, she might need healing. Which I can do as well.
[ Dammit, its hard to decide things like this. ]

You should come with me.

I have numerous magical abilities as well. Many of them are still effective, and I know healing arts, up to a degree. Provided Lady Marie is not mortally wounded, I can be of assistance. However, the core group will not be without its pitfalls. They may also require medical aid. Is anyone else versed in surgical or magical healing?

There was no question as to what his next course of action would be. He takes a step forward and speaks assertively - the way he used to to his students.]
Those of us with the ability to sense souls should lead the search.

I am more than happy to seek out the young woman. [ He remarks, bowing politely and heading off towards the inner city.]

[ And so the knight looks between the two groups again. At the moment, it looks like the group for the core doesn't have any healers.
Dammit. But Duke doesn't know how to search like the guy with the screw in his head - didn't that get a moment's blank look, was it actually all the way through and how was he living if that was the case - or search with magic, so that made stepping toward the core-retrieval side a bit easier. ]

[And that's Ax, approaching and joining in the conversation.]
